Love is in the air and it is exhausting. It seems everyone is so excited to meet someone new and see if they 'click'. To the point where this new trend has spread across Tendaji - Blind Dates.
The concept is pretty simple - you have a friend (or a matchmaker) set up a date with someone you've never met before. Some find this exhilarating - a chance to go beyond the same old and meet someone new. But others see this as unnecessary anxiety forced upon them by their friends or society's pressure.
Either way, you find yourself set up on a date not of your choosing, with a stranger who you've never met before. This could either be the person of your dreams...or a big mistake. Guess the only thing you can do is see where this date takes you.
---
For those who are already in a relationship, it's hard to host a 'blind date', but you can get close. It's time to surprise your significant other with a night date, just the two of you. No family, no children, just a chance to spend time with the one you love.
[ It's date night! This prompt should include a date with a stranger, either set up by your friends or by a matchmaker. If you're RPing your character with another, we ask that it be someone new (within reason to where your character is currently located). If you're RPing alone, create a new NPC and see where the night takes you.
Who knows, maybe this will be your character's future partner...or maybe an awkward enemy. What's the harm in the name of love?
For those who have characters already in a relationship, we're instead looking for a "Surprise Date" where one of the partners surprises the other with ad ate experience. ]
Xenia really shouldn't have been there. It was getting riskier by the day to mingle with the common folk, but with her experiences came a certain sense of confidence. She walked with her head up these days, a smile nearly permanently placed beneath her glasses and the tiny yaeli just couldn't keep the light from her heart. For the first time in years she didn't seem trapped and maybe as stupid as it was, she was ready for a little excitement!
So when a friend - acquaintance? - who just so happened to own a general goods shop came up with the grand idea to set up blind dates she'd signed up. After all, why not? Of course it was a way for those in the community to see their unmarried sons and daughters settle, and she really shouldn't be here....
But, well, it wouldn't hurt to try now would it? So, here she was, sitting atop a stone wall near the edge of town with her best outfit on. Her curls were pulled back into a whimsical ponytail and she had a few bangles around her thin wrists. All she knew was that her daughter would be a girl - or so she hoped, she'd marked it on the sheet! - and that could be just about anyone around here.

A pout rested on her lips as she walked to where she'd been told to go. Siofra was fuming on the inside. Zohra had signed her up for some blind date thing stating 'it would be fun!' Of course she'd given him the most deadpan look in existence when he'd said that because hello! Sio didn't talk! People sorta needed to be able to talk to have a good time on a date! Her cousin had helped her dress up, not without some fighting of course, and then dragged her out.
She was busy fidgeting with the hem of her shirt as she looked around nervously. Sio wasn't even sure what she was gonna do. What if the person didn't understand her sign? What if they laughed at her for not talking? There were so many things that could go wrong with this and she was sure Zohra hadn't thought that through!
Her eyes flittered around from person to person as she tried to find who she was looking for. Only thing she'd been told was she was looking for a Yaeli with a sleeve tattoo on their arm. Yaeli weren't that common so it didn't take long for Siofra to find who she was looking for. Of course that also meant she stopped right dead in front of the girl and stared for a few seconds before her cheeks felt way too warm.

Xenia kicked out her legs and stretched atop her wall as her eyes flitted over the passerbys. Every so often someone would look at her as they walked, but so far no one had bothered stopping. It would help if she knew what she was looking for and there was a part of her that worried her date wouldn't show up at all. That would be just her luck, wouldn't it?
That is, until a young hybrid stopped in front of her. For a moment Xenia had to wonder if she was going to ask for directions, but the way she was looking at her was so intent that Xenia's smile just brightened. "Hey there! Are you my date?" She was younger than Xenia had hoped for, but that didn't mean she would just walk away. A date was a date, and so when Xenia hopped down from her wall she...realized quite quickly that despite the age difference she was shorter.
You get what you get.

To say Siofra was staring was an understatement. Typically she didn't pay much attention to people and how they looked but for some reason she couldn't stop noticing how stupidly attractive the woman in front of her was. And the chipper greeting? Sio's little heart did a flutter. The heat in her cheeks got warmer and she wanted so badly just to fall into a sink hole at the moment.
She opened her mouth to say something but even without being selectively mute she found her voice failed. So instead her hands went from fidgeting with the hem of her shirt to coming up to grab the low collar and tug it up so that she could attempt to hide in it. The blush in her cheeks had spread quite a bit by that point and she felt it in her ears and down her neck. Despite her efforts to hide her face from her date she did nod in response to the question so that the woman would know that she was in fact her date.

Is something on my face? Xenia reached up to adjust her glasses in a casual attempt to also brush a hand across her features. A few curls had escaped, but it didn't feel like there was anything stuck to her. The added attention was making her own skin flush out of embarrassment.
"Oh no, don't do that, you'll stretch out the neckline," Xenia tutted and gently reached forward to put her hands on the girl's forearms. "It's such a lovely top and besides, isn't much a date if I can't see your face, right?" Poor girl must have been horribly shy if she couldn't even find her words. She was literally trying to hide from Xenia and her heart went out to her.
"I've got an idea." Reaching around to her side, Xenia dug around through her hip pouch and pulled out a little journal. It was dog eared, clearly well loved and stained, but a few pages in the back were empty. She handed both it and a stick of charcoal to her date. "Maybe you can write on this? To at least tell me what your name is?"

With her arms being touched she paused in her attempts to hide. The woman was right, she would stretch out her shirt. So she let go of her shirt. Looking at the Yaeli in front of her she watched as she pulled the journal out of her pouch. She was so considerate! If Siofra didn't find the thought absolutely humiliating she might have fainted right there.
Instead she took the journal and charcoal so that she could write her name on the page for the woman to read. Since she was used to writing to others often her letters were pretty and legible. Siofra turned the journal around so that the woman could read it but she still avoided direct eye contact.

Xenia had been awkward at a point in her life, but certainly not this shy. It made her think that this girl hadn't chosen to come on the date, but she was here now which showed some pretty big strides! Looking over to the journal, Xenia couldn't help admiring the way she wrote. "Siofra? A lovely name for a lovely girl." When Xenia looked up her eyes sparkled over the rim of her glasses as her smile brightened. They were finally getting somewhere!
"My name's Xenia and I thought we could could go to the flower festival together." It was a smaller activity, with a few vendors passing from town to town not only picking up local fauna but selling more exotic ones. "Buuuuut now I'm thinking maybe we could go to a teashop instead? Which would you prefer?"

Being called lovely should not have caused her blush to come back with a vengeance but alas, she had no control over that. Siofra looked down at the ground to try and hide a bit of the coloring in her cheeks if possible. Of course her hair was up in the usual ponytail so she doubted it would help much.
At the offer to pick the activity she rushed to write in the journal. 'Flowers.' Was all it said and it was underlined. The thought of seeing Xenia with flowers was too tempting. If the woman's tattoo was anything to go by then the sight would be well worth it. Normally Siofra might have liked something as calm as drinking tea but for some reason she wanted to spend time with Xenia actually doing something and having fun.

Xenia once again peeped over to look at the journal and couldn't help hiding the way her smile blossomed. "I was hoping you'd say that. I'm really looking forward to seeing them, and I heard they would have some of the larger ones from Jauhar. I've heard they're as big as your head." She gave a little laugh just imaging it. As much as Xenia liked to read about the rain forests she didn't think she could ever stand visiting. It just seemed much too humid for her.
Looking back to her date, Xenia gave a little 'hmm'. If she were a little older then she might have offered to hold her hand, but at this point it felt a little...odd, especially given her shy nature. Instead, she started to walk and decided to leave the journal with Siofra instead. "Do you like to come to events like this? With your friends or family?"

Hearing that there would be flowers that bloomed as big as her head she went a little wide eyed. When Xenia started to walk she did as well, following along though keeping as beside the woman as she could. Siofra tilted her head at the question though. So she wrote in the journal. 'Blind dates or the flowers?' before showing it to Xenia.
If that were the even she was talking about then she'd shake her head no. She'd only been pushed into it by her cousin. Though right now she was thanking Zohra for it mentally. But if Xenia were talking about the flowers then she'd give a nod. Of course both would be given a written explanation as well. Dating would mention her sibling pushing her to join and the flowers would mention all of her siblings going.

The concept of looking up to others wasn't new to Xenia so she walked at a particular angle; close enough that she wasn't avoiding anyone, but enough so that neither had to crane their necks.
Seeing the question caused Xenia to make a little 'o' with her mouth and let out a whistle,"Well, now that you mention it, both. As much of a stunner as I'm sure you're going to be, you don't seem like the type of go on many blind dates." If it took this much just to get some sort of communication out of the girl then Xenia just couldn't imagine her doing this regularly. The flowers, maybe, but dating strangers? Nah.
"I don't get to do fun things all that often myself so this is a first for me."

She gave a small giggle, proof that she had a voice at least, and shrugged a bit. She went to festivals and events with her siblings. Friends weren't something she really had but that was alright for now.
With the mention of this being Xenia's first time doing a blind date she nodded but had to tilt her head some. Now that she thought about it. Xenia was gorgeous. Enough to make Siofra question some things. So why was she doing a blind date? Why was the woman single!?
Sio decided to ask and wrote it down in the journal. 'How are you still single? You're beautiful and kind.' While it was a bit embarrassing it was still the truth, so she showed the written words to Xenia.

The flower festival was well within sight now, and the colorful displays warmed Xenia's heart. It was so nice just to spend a nice, relaxing day perusing nature's beauty with good company. She was happy enough to keep walking, just jabbering on about things when she saw Siofra writing out of the corner of her eye. Once more the yaeli looked toward the journal, but this time instead of brightness there was a hint of something darker in her smile.
Something far sadder.
"I travel a lot for work, so it's hard to make connections." Which wasn't untrue, though it did omit a fair deal. "I appreciate the compliments, though. You made my day, Siofra."

So she travelled a lot. It made sense if one really thought about it. Not being able to stay in one place for long and having to leave that person behind. Siofra frowned a bit before she looked at Xenia. "Sounds lonely.." She finally stated with her whisper voice.
Getting some courage up and wanting Xenia to at least have a good time before she had to leave and go wherever she was going, Sio grabbed hold of the Yaeli's hand and walked toward the prettiest flowers she could spot. Her face was blushing something fierce but she was determined to be okay. They would get to enjoy the flowers without having to worry about anything!
