A new craze is sweeping across Tendaji and everyone from the rich to the nomads are finding themselves swept into the excitement. Even you have heard about this new trend of going out into the world and hunting for treasure.
For the seasoned treasure hunters, it's a bit laughable to think it's just that easy to go and get rich, but they can appreciate the enjoyment many are getting from wading into the rivers and streams, sifting through stone, and occasionally pulling up a precious treasure to call their own.
But how easy is it, really? And are you lucky enough to strike gold?
[ IThis event prompt includes an extra step - you will need to roll a dice and react to the result. Will you be lucky enough to find something precious? Or just come up with a few rocks and cold feet?
Only the gods of luck will know - but fortune always favored the bold. So head on over to your local body of water, bring a sifting tool that many have claimed works like a charm, and see what comes up with this hot new craze. ]

When they arrived in Tendaji, it was a bit of a whirlwind to say the least. It took no time to get his "land legs" again, especially since Matori was a place full of water not unlike Hapuna. It was different, for sure, but still a refreshing reminder of home. Pello both felt homesick but reassured that this land was something worth exploring, especially with his friend by his side.
Speaking of which, he had approached Etana a few days prior begging her to go off on their first treasure hunting adventure. A Matori man, delightfully blue with unique coloring that he couldn't stop admiring, had explained a new trend sweeping across the land. The use of a pan to sift away the dirt and see if one could find any treasure in the waters and streams.
Maybe, if Etana was up to it, they could try their hand and see if luck was on their side, or at least she'd let him wander about as they moved more inland and toward the other wonders of Tendaji.
Etana gathered up the pan that Pello had gotten for her and nestled her bag further up on her shoulder. ”Are you sure you want to do this?” She asked Pello. It seemed silly. To look for treasure on the shallows of some river with these little pans. What kind of treasure would they even hold?
”That flyer you told me about seems like it was an interesting prospect.” Pello had told her about someone who was looking for sunken treasure and that was supposed to happen the very next day. It was more along the lines of what the two had been looking for coming to Tendaji.

If anyone knew Pello, they would describe him as excitable and agreeable. He was always the first one to jump in and say yes, be it to try a new food or test a new product. So when Etana approached him with uncertainty, he quickly turned to her with bright eyes and a little pout, like a young child.
"Oh please, it's like our very own treasure hunt. Imagine if we found some gold, or lost treasure." He said quickly, "It reminds me of growing up...shifting through the low tides to see what was hidden in the sand."
He was giddy, but added quickly, "This wont take too long, we still have time to prepare for that expedition!"
Etana looked at Pello and how excited he was and reciprocated his energy with a smile. “Well, it’s not like we have to prepare for tomorrow all day. You’re right, there will be time.” She looked at the mesh pan and back to Pello. “Do you want to lead the way?” She assumed he had a spot in mind when he bought these pans.

Pello nodded, "I was told the rivers leading into the water are the best place, lots of things get swept into them and caught in the dirt. You'd think we would have heard more about it back in Kahikina, with all the rivers we have."
He babbled along the way, ready for his first big treasure hunt with Etana by his side, until they landed in a wide river, the waters clear in the warm light.
"Well...let me think what they said to do next..."
Etana felt the warm sun soaking into her dark skin and the smell of the water under her nose and she took a content breath. It wasn’t home, but it did feel relaxing here. She looked to Pello and tried to focus on what he was saying. He… didn’t know what to do?
“Well the water looks very nice here. I think it seems a little straight forward, yes? We put some sand on top and shift away?” She asked him. Maybe there was a trick to it, maybe they had to be picky about where they got their sand from?

Pello was looking at the item with contemplation, before Etana's suggestion rung true. "That's right!" He exclaimed, before all but stomping into the water.
"Wow, it's pretty cold..." He replied, surprised as he dug his toes into the sandy bank before bending over and scooping up the dirt and some water.
"Now I...sift..." He said slowly, before wiggling it. And wiggling it some more.
Etana dipped her feet into the river and winced. It was cold. Colder than the Haukea waters. “You weren’t kidding.” Etana pushed the pan under the surface of the water, looking to see what Pello was doing before picking up her own sand and piling it on top. She wiggled and wiggled and waited to see if there was something for her to find. When all her sand was gone, she was left with just three little pebbles. She came up empty.
“What about you? Any luck?” She asked Pello.

The shaking was almost soothing, and Pello was a bit sad that it was over. But something shiny caught his eye, and he let out a little woop.
"Treasure, ahoy!" She announced quite loud, mimicking one of the sailors as he turned toward his partner, "I've found some gold! We're going to be rich!"
Etana’ s eyes popped wider at Pello’s exclamation. She wouldn’t have believed it had it been anyone else. “Is this what the Tendajian’s call beginner’s luck?” She joked to Pello. The phrase wasn’t used on Kahikina but she was starting to see it’s usefulness.
“Do you think it’s worth a lot?” She asked Pello, wading over in the waters to check it out.

"Hey now," he said with a teasing grin, "I was born to do this. Clearly the gods of this land have sponsored me!"
He moved to brush off the remaining muck and looked at the pretty golden pebbles, before shrugging, "Who knows...think there might be more?" This must be the so-called gold rush they were talking about, the excitement of finding one and the potential for more.
Etana peered over Pello's shoulders at the stones before poking at one. "There has to be I think." She agreed. She stooped over and shoved more sand onto her pan before continuing to sift. "You know, this is a little relaxing as well. A nice way to spend some of the day." She mused aloud, her way of thanking Pello for picking the activity for the morning.

As soon as she said relaxing, Pello dropped his sifter into the water again, scooping up eagerly to find more. He laughed, "I think it's more fun than relaxing. But it is nice being back in the water...reminds me a little bit of home." He added thoughtfully.
As he continued to work, he didn't find much else in terms of treasure. He was sweaty and covered in mud up to his knees, but the grin on his face was larger than normal. He was absolutely satisfied with the activity.
"I really hope all of the adventures we go on are as fun as this one." He finally said at the end, moving forward to plant a kiss on Etana's cheek, grateful she was his partner in crime each and every day.
Etana felt the blush flush under her dark skin. She still wasn't used to that, but she enjoyed it all the same. "I feel like they will be." She answered him, her smile matching his. She didn't know what Tendaji had in store for the two of them, but she knew that she was with Pello and there was no other place to be for her.
