Date Night

Love is in the air and it is exhausting. It seems everyone is so excited to meet someone new and see if they 'click'. To the point where this new trend has spread across Tendaji - Blind Dates.
The concept is pretty simple - you have a friend (or a matchmaker) set up a date with someone you've never met before. Some find this exhilarating - a chance to go beyond the same old and meet someone new. But others see this as unnecessary anxiety forced upon them by their friends or society's pressure.
Either way, you find yourself set up on a date not of your choosing, with a stranger who you've never met before. This could either be the person of your dreams...or a big mistake. Guess the only thing you can do is see where this date takes you.

For those who are already in a relationship, it's hard to host a 'blind date', but you can get close. It's time to surprise your significant other with a night date, just the two of you. No family, no children, just a chance to spend time with the one you love.
[ It's date night! This prompt should include a date with a stranger, either set up by your friends or by a matchmaker. If you're RPing your character with another, we ask that it be someone new (within reason to where your character is currently located). If you're RPing alone, create a new NPC and see where the night takes you.
Who knows, maybe this will be your character's future partner...or maybe an awkward enemy. What's the harm in the name of love?
For those who have characters already in a relationship, we're instead looking for a "Surprise Date" where one of the partners surprises the other with ad ate experience. ]

They had arrived on the shores of Matori, having taken a few stops along the way. The sands were different here, coarser, and the waters didn't seem to have the reefs that were such a big part of their home. All the earthlings enjoyed living in homes further up the beach, though they had settings along the sands and often spent nights among the stars. It was so different, though he could envision living here just as much as back home.
Either way, he was now with Etana among the earthlings, catching their stares as so few Kahikinans had made the trip so far. They were still so rare, so unique, and the earthlings would gape. It was cute with the younglings, but the adults were just strange.
So when he had the chance to find a cozy little firepit closer to the caves on the beach, Pello decided to go make some trades to prepare a nice meal. At least the fish here were a nice sentiment of the home they left behind.

Etana held her bag closer to her as she made her way back from the market. Her and Pello had reached Tendaji just a day ago. After finding a place to stay Pello had come up with the idea of splitting up for the day and exploring the town that they were in. Etana would be lying if she said that she could remember the names of any of the places that they were in right now, but this one had earthlings that lived near the beach and it made it feel a little more comfortable to transition into.
She didn’t feel quite comfortable traveling through the market by herself, but with the sun dipping father toward the horizon she was a little relieved to be on the way back to meet up with Pello again. He was always much more friendly and probably didn’t have issues with speaking with the natives. Etana on the other hand just felt like she stuck out like a sore thumb. Tall and very very dark compared to the races around her, she felt like there were eyes on her at all times.

As the fish began to cook, propped up by sticks near the fire, Pello settled down and leaned back on his hands, looking out across the beach and to the waters. It was quiet, calm, and soothed him. Sure, he would have liked to be in the water, but he knew that he needed to get used to being on land. It was a bit dry, but not too terrible for the reef dweller. And the waters were beautiful, against the sunset.
It wasn't long, however, until his mind began to wander and he eagerly looked around every few minutes for Etana. They were always together, and he found himself missing her quite a bit the occasional times they parted ways.

Etana skated down the sandy bank leaving town and could see Pello’s red hair in the distance. She could feel a weight lifting off of her shoulders as she neared their camp and nearly heaved the bag off of her shoulders as she sat down next to her Hapuna partner. “Thank Iokaila, I’m finally back.” She stretched out her legs and looked to Pello, who seemed already relaxed.
“I know it’s only our first days here, but you seem to already be taking to it well. Maybe I’ll feel more adjusted tomorrow.” She mused. It’s not like being on Tendaji was bad, just different.

As soon as he caught sight of Etana, a bit after she saw him, he straightened up and evaluated if she might need his assistance. He understood she was more of an independent sort, and so it was his job to be there to help only if it were necessary. Honestly, more often than not she was the one stepping in to help him. Maybe it was the Hapuna in him who tended to procrastinate and leave much too much for last.
As she settled down next to him, he relaxed and smiled at her return, "It's easy when it's so familiar to home. Though it's a shame they tend to live so far away from the waves..." He mused, "Such a missed opportunity, these Earthlings. I thought for sure they would be more like the ones we met on the boats...passionate about the sea."

Etana listened keenly to Pello’s words before nodding her head. “The ocean here is beautiful, even if it’s not the same as home. The water doesn’t seem quite as warm.” She noticed aloud. “I’m surprised these earthlings aren’t more suited for water. They look like they would be more aquatic, don’t you think?” She asked Pello. The water earthlings that they had mostly seen in Matori has fin-like ears, something she was all too familiar with being so close to Pello.

"They do seem more keen to it compared to the ones with stone...almost as if they are Kahikinan..." His eyes brightened as he leaned forward to tend to the meal, confirming it was cooked and pulling a stick away to hand to his partner, "You think maybe they are from Kahikina? They could almost be Riverfolk based on their coloring..."
It was an interesting thought indeed, and Pello wondered if maybe they could find some ruins to confirm if they were the same. Maybe they had traveled over ages ago and lost track of their history?

Etana accepted the fish from Pello, breathing in the scent of it with an 'mmmm'. It smelled wonderful and had her mouth watering. "This looks delicious." She blew on the meal, turning it slowly in her hand before nibbling off a small piece. It tasted as good as it smelled. She hadn't realized just how hungry she was before the first piece hit her stomach with satisfaction.
"It's an interesting thought but they are so strange I don't know if I would believe it." She weighed in on Pello's theory but she wasn't one to get too technical with everything. Whatever it was, it was, and Etana didn't feel any kinship to the water earthlings.
"Do you think we'll be here long?" Etana asked Pello. They hadn't made much of a plan beyond 'get to Tendaji' and 'explore'. She wondered if they would go somewhere cold or keep to the warmer half of Tendaji.

She was right. While they had similar ears, the rest of things just weren't the same. Maybe ages ago, but they were not at all related in this day in time. Their markings were so different, and their eyes as well. It was a strange thought, but one that was fun to explore all the same.
"I admit I haven't made any plans..." he responded with a meager grin, nibbling on his own food with a satisfied sigh, "I hear there's an expedition that was set up...some sort of buried treasure..."

Etana furrowed her brows together thinking on Pello's suggestion. Buried treasure? It was an interesting idea. "I wonder what sort of treasure it would be..." She asked aloud.
She wasn't sure how Pello knew of such things, but they were here to explore. "I think it would be interesting to look into it. Maybe jumpstart our travels with something exciting. And pad our pockets while we're here, right?" She mused. The currency in Tendaji was different than it was in Kahikina. It would make their travels easier if they had some additional funds.

He came overseas to explore, and his interest in treasure was something of a passion. Eventually he hoped to find discoveries he could bring back home, something to show off. But never did he think he'd find an opportunity so quickly. It made him a little anxious, the chance to grab his dream but uncertainty of if he was ready. But her interest soothed him, and he looked up with bright eyes at her suggestion.
"Really? You'd be interested?" He asked with almost puppy-dog eyes. His boyish smile was bright as he considered such things.
"I like the way you think, Eta. I knew you were the brains, and I obviously the brawn!" As he flexed, it was very clear that he was not in fact the brawn, but still he acted as if he were much more muscular than the reality.

Etana couldn’t help but to bark out a laugh at Pello’s display of ‘brawn’. Pello was… pretty soft all over.
“I’m interested if you’re interested. I don’t think I would volunteer alone.” While Pello might not have been the brawn, he was the outgoing type out of the two of them. He was much more comfortable with strangers than Etana was.

His grin softened at her laugh, and he felt warm inside that he was able to bring joy to her life as much as she did to his own.
"We came here for an adventure, so let's go on an adventure." He replied warmly, setting the stick back in the fire to add to the flames. Scooting closer, he moved his arm around her loosely, before leaning over and gently kissing her cheek.
"I'll need to protect you, after all. Who knows what trouble you'll get into." He whispered teasingly, before leaning back and letting out a content sigh. He was so grateful to have Etana in his life, both as his traveling partner and his partner in crime. With her, he could do anything.

Etana melted into the arm that wrapped around her, her cheeks feeling warm at the touch of Pello's lips. She wasn't used to the intimacy yet, but she could get used to it quickly if it continued to feel like this.
She hummed softly and put her own stick into the fire before nestling back into Pello's body. "Who's to say I'm going to be the one to get into trouble?" She joked to Pello before breathing in deeply and closing her eyes. Between the warmth of the fire and the set sun she felt closer to home like this than she had in a while.
