Being a Knight was....tedious. Carterhaugh didn't enjoy it one bit; it honestly felt like an extra burden that just cut into time he could be spending doing things he actually cared about. There were nebulous threats out there, of course, and he would never forget the feeling of a hand in his chest, pulling out his starseed--but he'd run into so little actual trouble since, it seemed like maybe that had been an aberration. One person who was a little overzealous, a monster that was out of control.
Tonight, like most nights they went out, was....boring. Quiet. Very little happening.
They sighed, discontentedly, and turned to head towards the main park. There was always something there, wasn't there?

There was always something going on in the park. It was a well known fact, and even Langite, who hadn’t been at this for too very long knew that if you wanted action…the park was the place to go. When he arrived, and felt someone there…something that wasn’t a senshi…but, thankfully wasn’t one of the aliens either, Langite felt his lip curling in distaste.
Swiftly he moved towards the other aura, wishing not for the first time that he was able to teleport. That would make his life so much simpler…If he could just…go and be somewhere in an instant…hopefully soon that power would be within his grasp…but for now.
He saw the knight and huffed softly, looking at him and then looking away. “I long.”
With these. There was no reason to give them a chance. No reason to try to talk. They had to be taught a lesson. And quickly.

It was sudden. Carterhaugh felt the aura approaching, and then---
It was like a stab in the chest, the sudden rush of longing. For something to matter, for the ability to be less lonely, for literally anything other than dragging himself through classes and work on his thesis and--and--
Carterhaugh groaned, miserably. This--whatever this was--
He turned, looking to try and spot the source of the aura or the magic or whatever was happening to him, and he spotted someone in black, with absurdly long hair--just like the woman that had attacked him.
"Did you do this?" He demanded, squaring his shoulders.

Langite huffed softly. “Did I do what?” He continued moving slowly towards the Page, closing in, the idea of just removing the starseed was tempting, if he couldn’t get this one to change his mind and allegiance…well.
This was different than what Dagon had described. This was a fight. This was a war. This wasn’t a random homeless person that he was just attacking for the fun of it. This was one of the invaders who he was meant to clean up.
“Did I use my magic on you? If that’s the question, then the answer is yes.” If that wasn’t the question…oh well.
“You are my enemy, and I fully intend to treat you as one. Unless you choose to come with me. Then perhaps you wouldn’t have to be my enemy any longer. But, the choice is yours.”

Carterhaugh stormed forward. This magic attack--this was absurd, and stupid. "Join you? Come with you? With the people who unleash monsters on this city? Who rip the souls from the chests of innocent civilians?"
There was little he could do. It was hard to resist the ache in his chest, and more than that, all he had was a lovely dress and a silk flower. But he could storm over, and throw a punch at this smug piece of s**t's face.

Langite should have been prepared for an assault, but strangely he wasn’t, and when the fist collided with his face, he stumbled backwards and blinked in utter confusion, slowly raising a hand to his cheek and rubbing it. “...You get so angry with the idea of protecting the Earth? Of keeping it safe from those who want to invade it and destroy it? Kill it like they have killed their own worlds? You wish to add to the misery?”
He honestly couldn’t understand. Couldn’t understand any of them. These misguided idiots. “You are a disgusting being, and I hope you know that.”
Taking another step away, Langite thought hard about returning the punch with one of his own, but he found some restraint. Perhaps this fool…this ignoramus just. Needed to think about his decisions. “Yes. Join me. Protect the Earth and those who live here. I do not agree with those who hurt civilians, and I am working to see that such a thing is stopped, but. The Earth is in danger from invaders. Surely you know this?”

Carterhaugh barked out a shocked, bitter laugh. The very suggestion--! It almost made them want to throw their fist again, but they crossed their arms instead, regarding the Corrupt with the most disgusted expression they could manage.
"In what way," Carterhaugh asked, "does allowing monsters to run free and attack the populace protect anything? One of those nearly killed me, long before I ever became a Page. And then, one of your fellows shoved her hand in my chest. And both times, I was rescued by other Knights." First Camelot, and then Læraðr. Certainly no one on the side that allegedly claimed to be protecting the planet, apparently. "And in any case--! I'm Carterhaugh of Earth! This is my home, any way you slice it!"
That seemed so incredibly, blindingly obvious to him.

Of…Earth?
Langite was quiet, his brows furrowing, he didn’t…quite understand what this page was saying but…
Of Earth?
He said nothing, simply watched the page with a confused, almost unnerved expression, and finally he simply turned away and walked off into the night. He had no answer. Had nothing that he wanted to say. So he felt it best to just leave. That was the safest course…and obviously this was something he didn’t want to deal with so…
…this was the only course.

Carterhaugh was left stunned. The sheer audacity to just....turn around? And walk away? To not even respond? They made a shocked, sputtering noise, and started to storm after him.
"Excuse me, what do you think you're doing! Come back here and answer me!"
But it was too late--they'd lost track of the stranger in black, and he had managed to vanish into the night.
Carterhaugh huffed, bitterly. Ridiculous. Deluded. Brainwashed, even. They turned on their heel, sharp and furious, and stomped away.
