Sitha had, unfortunately, needed to forgive Jua for his earlier transgressions a few weeks ago. He didn't want to, but he needed to keep his pretty face from being marred by scars and to do that he'd need the healer on his side. His face, after all, was how he made his living as a bard. And even more unfortunately, Jua knew this, and exploited it at every given chance. This time? Well, Sitha was to accompany the sour lion about the territory to refresh his supply of healing herbs. It was boring work, and it took everything in Sitha to not complain about it. It made his skin crawl.

"What's next?" Sitha prompted after Jua had gathered the last bit of herb they'd stumbled upon. The sooner they had everything, the sooner he could leave. It didn't matter that Sitha was one of the healer's more regular customers, and likely had used up most of the healer's stash just for himself. This sort of work was beneath him.

Jua'kali was well aware of the power he held over Sitha, and he was no stranger to using that power for favors. It seemed they had both come to terms with this sort of relationship, and though it annoyed Sitha to be doing the work, it annoyed Jua just as much to have Sitha around constantly. There was only so much he could take of the impatient fool in one day. "Hold your zebras," the older lion grumbled as he delicately placed the last herb into a makeshift bundle that he had swung over his shoulder. It was nothing special, but one of these days he dreamed of having one of the crafters in the pride make him a true satchel. Perhaps one made of buffalo hide, as it would be thicker and wouldn't tear as easily. Until then, he was making do with a few scraps left behind by the hunters.

"There's one last patch to check, for today," Jua huffed as he turned to slowly plod his way through thick brush. He didn't like being away from the main part of the pride, as he was no fighter and did not wish to be caught off guard. It made him even more sour than normal, as he realized the only reason, he wanted Sitha around was so he wouldn't be out alone picking medicinal herbs. Ugh, is this what his life had come to? A lonely, grumpy old man too afraid to go off on his own? The thought made him sick, so instead he lashed out at Sitha as he was want to do. "Hurry up!"

User ImageTwo males.

Velesra pursed her lips in contemplation as she watched the two male lions bumble about their business. It seemed one of them was accompanying the other while they gathered the necessary medicinal herbs for their practice. Today she was tasked with stalking her victims and while she wasn't opposed to the challenge she was usually taking charge of this sort of situation by being the center of attention and slyly obtaining whatever it was she needed while they were distracted by her charms. Instead, this task foretold that she wasn't allowed to be seen at all until the very last moment she were to tag at least one of them with an unsuspecting paw.

Crouched low in a nearby bush, she lowered herself till the fur on her belly brushed the earth beneath, spying the two of them through the minor gaps in the leaves and branches. It would have been easier in the savannah, the colour of the dirt was closer to the shade of her coat than the forest was and the darker colours of mud and greenery were a stark contrast in her entirety. She refrained from letting out a huff, almost losing her wits in her thought. She clenched her jaw tightly, realizing her subconscious actions had almost given her away.

That had been too close for comfort.

She would remain silent and focused while continuing to observe the comedic duo as they went about their business while finding amusement in their fictitious irritation for one another.

Sitha bit back the venomous reproach that had leapt to his tongue, but he could not hold back the scoff that escaped his maw. "Make up your mind, old man," he managed to say rather mildly despite the urge to sink his teeth into Jua's hide. His tail lashed out behind him and Sitha casually followed after the grumpy healer, his mind set on remaining at least somewhat on Jua's good side. He needed the healer and his herbs if he was going to keep his face pretty. Sitha wasn't as enthralled with fighting as most of the pride was, but he could do it, mostly as a last resort if a contract went poorly. It didn't happen often, as his good looks and natural charms were enough to get him through most ordeals, but when it did, he was prepared to use fang and claw to escape. Perhaps that's why Jua wanted him around, but the joke was on the old fool, he'd rather flee than fight if they came across trouble. This thought comforted him slightly, as he padded forward, a smug look on his maw.

Jua'kali, as he was calling himself nowadays, rumbled deep in the back of his throat and considering taking a swipe at Sitha. Ultimately, he deemed it would be a waste of time. Yes, he was older now, and perhaps a bit more bitter than he had been in his youth, but he was still the same lion that deep down, wanted to heal the sick and the injured. It was his passion, and he appreciated a challenge. Much like the mercenaries enjoying a good fight, Jua loved healing. And unfortunately, Sitha was one of his more frequent patients, and it had taken a lot of time and resources to ensure the irritating lion's face remained unmarred by scars. Quite the feat! If he did say so himself. "I don't have to, you'll follow me anyway," Jua retorted after a moment of silence as he stopped at the last patch of herbs near a pile of small rocks. Delicately, and with much finesse, the healer picked a bundle of herb between his teeth and carefully placed them into his makeshift bag. "That's it for today," he sighed, a hint of tiredness echoing in his voice.
