At this point, pursuing first-tier energy signatures was getting to be a little part and parcel. It was fun to bully them and boast and say scathing things, and a stabbing or two wasn't that uncommon in Destiny City, barely even made any kind of headline in any form of media; the only problem was that sometimes they fought back, when that happened, and that was less fun. Usually. Day-to-day, zyr job was almost boringly benign; scrapes and bruises and cuts were at least exciting, even if they were unfortunate.
And that would've been it for tonight as well, except when Larimar rounded the corner and the senshi of the hour came into view, she was six feet tall and blue. Which. Wasn't supposed to happen? That had never happened before.
Bwuh, zyr brain spit out as a noise to make, and ze managed to keep that one under zyr breath. Was this a ******** alien? "Are you a ******** alien," ze said, and it came out deadpan with a hint of incredulousness.
That one wasn't supposed to be out loud, and Larimar cringed after ze said it, drawing in a deep hiss between zyr teeth. ******** christ, but that was the least elegant way ze'd started a conversation this month, and there were a lot of contenders for that position. Fighting a first-level senshi was one thing; fighting a six-foot-tall alien was something else, just like discretion was the better half of valor.

There was something ever entertaining about Earth human reactions to Dagon's appearance. They always seemed to short-circuit a little--from everything she'd gathered of this time, it was simply not nearly as common to see any sort of extraterrestrial visitor. Which was tragic, and a result of the declining state of the universe....but did still provide her with some amusement.
"I am, indeed, a ******** alien," Dagon said. She looked the Captain up and down, gauging her chances--but there was no need to jump into things. Instead, she gave a little mocking wave. "Sailor Dagon of Dread, at your service. What can I help you with, Captain?"
There was a dryness to her tone. She would have to evaluate--was this one more like Langite, or more like the monster Raksha had fought?

Larimar knew ze was hardly the most dignified-looking or frightening officer out there - so when the senshi sized zem up, ze simply stood there, straight-backed, arms folded across zyr chest. No need to posture or pose against someone who might not even have the context for it; just a step up from neutral. When she waved, ze gave a small little snort in return - what, is that it? or two can play at that, something along those lines.
"I was doing my ******** job," Larimar said, equally dry, "but something tells me you'd probably be pissed if I did it right in front of you, no matter how much I pinky-swore I wasn't doing any murdering and not even a tiny bit of maiming or injury. So it'd be fantastic if you left, that'd help me a lot!"
...and then ze heaved a sigh, overdramatic, and slumped a little. "But none of you ever actually leave, so not getting my wish today, odds are."

This Captain seemed....slippery. Dagon did not like that about zem; slippery, unpredictable people were the worst. Certainly ze did not seem to have any sort of respect for the "work" ze did, with the sarcasm, and the mocking of the possibility of murder.
But Dagon did not want to jump to violence, not when her adversary's weapon was unknown.
So perhaps there was something else she could do; something that would allow her to simply...encourage zem away from making any foolish decisions.
So Dagon smiled.
And called on her magic.
Fog whirled up around her at her command, and the monstrous shape the magic gave her still wore the same smile--made eerie on an even more inhuman face.
"How about we make a deal, Captain," she said, and she took a step forward, closing the distance between them--a threat that she hoped came across loud and clear. "You promise me that you will not harm civilians tonight, that you will return to your masters with whatever you have already gathered and naught more, and I do not show you everything I have learned form a thousand years of violence and murder. Do you think that is a fair bargain?"
If ze disagreed, well. Dagon would simply have to make good on the threat part of this little scheme. But that was alright. She had fought a Captain before, wrested his weapon from his hands, and driven him away.
She could do it again, she was sure.Quote: Dagon touches her fist to her chest, and a strange fog begins to swirl around her. Enemies within ten feet of Dagon will see her as something monstrous and dreadful, and experience a sense of oncoming doom in her presence. These effects last for 30 seconds, and Dagon can use this spell three times per battle.

okay -" There was the temptation to call zyr dagger to hand, of course there was, but already ze was on the back foot. There was no need to attack her, not with what - what had to be her magic, Larimar had seen her transform, had seen her change, it had to be magic -
But at the same time, she was saying things, and that was good, that got zyr heart to calm. A thousand years -- usable. That'd go into the database, if ze remembered through this haze of worry. All of her would. It was the barest kind of lip service, but it seemed to work to keep other officers off zyr back, anyway.
"Fine," ze said, with an almost forced carelessness, "I'll leave - but. Drop your magic first." Take it or leave it. Ze wanted to figure out if she was willing to make any caveats, and this was the safest one. "Unless you want to watch me screw around and fail to -" Larimar snapped their fingers, let the noise ring out, didn't quite make eye contact - could only approximate where her eyes probably were, and not well - "out of here - and it'd be hilarious, real standup comedy, I'm sure - it's hard to focus when you're."
Ze gestured up at the senshi, at the illusion that'd overtaken her, at the smile that - through this filter - was something awful, something nasty. God, Larimar wanted to know how to smile like that. It was undoubtedly effective. "You know. This whole situation."

Dagon sighed, deeply. "A little lesson about Senshi magic: generally, once it is used, it runs until it dissipates. Perhaps you'll get lucky, my magic has been in the habit of shorting out early of late." Though that had mostly been when she was emotionally off-kilter, which she did not particularly feel. "It won't be long, though."
Dagon took a few steps back, to give the poor Captain some breathing room, but she still kept her eyes on zem. True to her word, though, the magic ran its course--the fog faded away, and the monstrous shape was replaced by Dagon's ordinary form. Still alien, certainly, but much less of an eldtritch horror.
"Well? Are you capable of doing your little vanishing trick now?" Her tone was dry, almost mocking, and the smile was gone, replaced by a bemused quirked eyebrow.

"Senshi aren't generally in the habit of explaining how their magic works to me," Larimar deadpanned, "mostly they just set me on fire, the bitches." Which had happened precisely all of once, but it wasn't technically a lie, so it made for a funnier anecdote that way. And it'd been illusionary fire, even, so that made it all a stretch, but details were less important in the face of making any kind of point sometimes.
When the illusion fell, ze looked her up and down, really trying to hold the details in zyr mind -- the outfit didn't give any clues about what the ******** that magic had been supposed to represent, so that was a loss, but the fins - her multicolored hair - those were clear. "Mostly they try to set me on fire after I stab them, but details, details - " a step backwards, shifting weight - hold the location in zyr mind ze wanted to be, hold it tight, the shift in space right on the tip of zyr metaphorical tongue - "and when I said I agreed? I lied."
"Toodles," Larimar said, mockingly polite, and vanished before she could move any further towards zem. Ze'd been practicing just in case some teleportation was needed for dramatic flourish - it was tiring, true, but it was so funny to do to people who thought they were winning.

Perhaps it had been foolish of her to explain things to an enemy, but it wasn't as if ze wouldn't be able to learn about magic other ways. The Negaverse had their profane Senshi, surely one could teach zem.
She crossed her arms. Waited, in silent judgement, until--
"You--"
She surged forward, but it was too late--ze vanished before she could grab zem, and make them pay for zyr mockery..
Fine. She would remember that look. And next time, there would be no hesitation.
