It was 2:13am in Destiny City, and the many parking garages scattered throughout the metropolis were mostly unoccupied. With all business and shopping concluded for the night, most cars had few reasons to be there, and people even fewer. A cold wind sighed through the entrance of the one at 31st and Triumph, which rested near a strip of bars that had all closed minutes ago. Most of its remaining occupants (hopefully piloted by designated drivers) had already departed, leaving behind an ideal empty space for something strange to happen. A flash of light from nowhere, ignored by the sleeping security guard who was supposed to be watching the camera feeds. It filled the space, and deposited on the level 3 concrete, a small man. A senshi. One who looked for all the world like a little statue overgrown with woody vines, sitting serenely cross-legged with eyes closed. He was asleep -- but not for long. His last memory was of a warm place, of dripping water, and the soothing aroma of unpolluted soil. The stark winter air and stench of diesel immediately snapped him awake. His heart quickened in panic, and he instantly knew -- the warm place had been a dream. He had never actually escaped the complex. Matrix was dead, and he was alone. He screamed, and shook, and stumbled backwards into the single car left on level 3, and the car sprang to life. It screamed back. Sailor Taiyi's mind became a blur of agonizing fear. It was a new machine, one he had never seen before, and that meant danger. Danger. Danger. The car alarm wailed its threats at him, and his body scrambled ahead of his mind. Wood-ridged hands took hold of a chunk of brick they found on the ground. The senshi threw his whole weight into bashing the windshield and hood of the car, over and over, desperate to stop it. Desperate to survive.

Arsenolite had been on the prowl, scoping out people he could get starseeds from, when the car alarm went off in a nearby parking garage after a giant flash of light. Well, that was suspicious. He jumped up from the outside, level by level to ensure he didn't fall, until he hit the level the alarm was going off on, the level the burst of light had come from. Sounds of the car getting smashed to pieces reached his ears once he was on the level and he crouched between a couple of the limited amount of cars in the space to look over, wondering just what the hell was happening. No way it was simply some kind of jilted ex, not with that light flash, but he didn't hear sounds of normal fighting between the White Moon and the Negaverse, either. "What the ********," he muttered, watching this guy with... green skin and the strangest hair he'd ever seen just beat the everloving s**t out of the car. s**t, what should he do? Inhaling slowly, he took a picture of the guy, blurry from his movements but still obviously Not Right, and tucked his tablet back away before standing up and approaching. Someone had to talk this guy down before he hurt himself too badly, and struggled with questioning. "Hey, put down the brick, man!" he shouted, holding his bow and an arrow loosely in his hands, ready to be aimed but not yet.

The bizarre machine refused to cease its noisy assault. Sailor Taiyi continued his act of desperate self-defense, screaming all the while. His makeshift weapon bashed more dents into the hood, and more cracks into the windshield. The sudden, unsettling presence approaching from the edge of his awareness barely slowed him down at all. His eyes, a glinting bronze, darted to the side for just a split second. A simple weapon he recognized, carried by an unusually tall man with unfamiliar clothing and the most bizarre, furry head-decoration he had never seen. A foreigner? Had the System administrators started hiring bodyguards from the outside? How did they even reach him? Taiyi decided it didn't matter. He was alone. Matrix was dead. There were no allies left to defend him. This was his last stand, and he was going to go down fighting. He already knew there was no point in trying to run away. So, with a wavering, grainy voice, he shouted, " No!!" and continued his assault on the car.

Arsenolite blinked. Well. Alright then. He crept a bit closer, curiously putting his weapon down. The guy was definitely one of the aliens. Like Dagon. He wondered if they could get him corrupted. He clearly didn't care for human items, but still. "It's not gonna stop crying at you just cause you're beating the s**t out of it," he called, putting his bow back on his back and holding his hands up in a very cautious surrendering motion. "The more you wail on it the more it'll keep alarming."

The frantic senshi stopped mid-strike, his hands visibly trembling around the weight they gripped. He wore the expression of someone who wasn't quite lucid; his haggard eyes gazed up and down the foreigner's form with unwavering distrust. Something about his presence made Taiyi's stomach turn. It was an almost unfamiliar sensation, and yet, reminded him of them. The Administrators. "I know you work for them," he said. "I know you're here to kill me. Don't try to trick me!" He stood between two enemies now. The car continued to scream. His mind continued to be a blur, seeing the machinations that ruined his planet in the concrete and oil stains all around him. It was the last thing he ever wanted, to be born to such a world. To die in such a world. In spite of the bravery his masters and friends had tried to instill in him... his knees shook, and tears started to stream down his face. Sailor Taiyi wished he could be somewhere, anywhere else.

It had been a really good night, Rob decided, basking in the afterglow of a successful gig at Piggy's near 31st and Triumph. The configuration of members he'd finally put together for his band Torgo was working out great; all wanted to play the wild Celtic-fey-punk stuff he'd written over the years, and all played it well. He, of course, was still the frontman and driving force behind Torgo – there was no way he'd give that up, not ever. But these guys were giving him some ideas that were setting his brain-juices all aswiri with possibilities. This was at least as good as working with his old mates back in London. In some ways, it was even better. Humming happily to himself, Rob strolled toward the parking garage on the corner, guitar strapped across his back and lugging his amp in one hand. A car alarm blared through the night (well, morning) from one of the levels of the garage and he snorted; some poor sap must have bumped someone else's car. He himself usually didn't drive, but this area was on the other side of the city from his usual haunts; and as he had for some reason gotten a driver's license (even though he was a terrible driver), he'd rented a car for the night to help carry his gear. It would be a quick drive home, and with no-one on the streets, an easy one. He paid for his parking and keyed the lift to the third floor. The car alarm grew louder, and as the lift opened a scene lay before him that left him slack-jawed: a Negaverse agent dressed for all the world like Green Arrow trying to calm down a small man-person who looked like he had bits of tree growing on him. The small man was apparently using a brick to beat the s**t out of a wailing car… Rob's rental car. "Wha-" he started, then remembered he wasn't powered up. Exiting the lift, he ducked around a corner, stashed his gear, then said the words that would transform him into Eternal Sailor Puck of the Woods. He emerged from his cover and approached the two men, stopping behind the Negaverse agent. "Hallo hallo, what's all this then?" he announced loudly, trying to keep down the panic of wondering how he was going to explain the damage to the rental car company. "What the absolute <********> is going on?"

Arsenolite sensed the aura of the new Senshi as they walked up behind him, and it was only because he was so hyperaware of that in the moment that the Senshi didn't startle Arsenolite onto his a**. He didn't even care in the moment that the guy was White Moon, right now, some ******** crazy s**t was happening and he needed confirmation he wasn't going insane. "Tell me you see the alien beating the s**t out of a car," he said over his shoulder, keeping his hands off his weapon and up in the air. He didn't need to start anything, not with an Eternal. "Work for who?" he called back out to the alien senshi, making himself smaller. "I promise I have no idea what you're talking about. I'm not here to kill anybody, okay? You seem lost and scared, and all I wanna do is help. And maybe get that rotten alarm to turn off." He didn't think it was safe to approach on his own to try and smash the unlock button on the damn thing so it would shut up, so he stayed put. That and he wasn't sure how the Eternal behind him would react to a Negaverse officer moving on his own. This was a delicate situation and he couldn't flub this up. tatterpixie GREEN ARROW i love puck. i love him so much

At the advent of a new presence, confusion began to leak in. It was another foreigner -- and even stranger -- this foreigner was a fellow senshi, like him. He had the wings Taiyi's masters had several tales of, in past eras where past Sailor Taiyis had become strong enough to earn them. They had hoped he would earn such wings someday, but... His wood-nailed fingers stayed wrapped around the brick, but his arms lowered further. His breathing slowed a bit. And he asked, "How did you get here?" The question was barely audible above the car alarm. Even with its noise persisting, Sailor Taiyi started to notice a few things. There were symbols painted on the pillars, that looked like no writing he had ever seen on Taiyi. The vehicle he had been attacking bore similar markings. The placed reeked of oil, as strong as when he had first detected it, but it was not quite the same. This whole place was not quite the same. So, his second question was, "What's going on?" Was he still on Taiyi, even? It seemed silly to assume he wasn't. But now he was remembering... a call, a pull...

"Yeah, I see him," Puck nodded at the much taller Captain, eyes locked on the small man – alien, rather. He knew through the grapevine that there were alien senshi about now, but he never in his wildest dreams imagined he'd actually encounter one. And yet, here was this small, tree-touched man, brick in hand. He heard the lieutenant tell the alien he wasn't going to hurt him; by his actions of both raising his hands and keeping his distance, Puck trusted the Negaverse officer to keep his word. "You. Stay put," he ordered the Captain anyway, just in case. Moving cautiously forward to position himself between the two men, he turned his attention to the alien. "How did I get here? I live here. Not in the garage, mind, but here, in Destiny City. On Earth." Glancing briefly at the lieutenant to make sure he wasn't going to try anything, he gave the alien man a small smile. "As to what's going on, I haven't a clue, mate." He reached through a shattered window and unlocked the car; the sudden silence was almost deafening. "There, that should help. What's your name? I'm Puck, of the Woods."

Arsenolite gave an affronted scoff at the order from the senshi, rolling his eyes. "Jackass," he muttered under his breath, letting his hands go down and slide into his pockets. "Thanks for finally turning that off," he said louder, once the car had been silenced. If his ears hurt, he could only imagine how this... tree guy felt. "My name's Arsenolite. Resident of Earth. Welcome to the planet." Keep playing nice. Maybe he could get some information. Man, he was not the best SpecOps guy at all, but he was going to give it his best shot. He needed to impress Ashanite, and coming back with as much information as possible on this person to add to the database should do that for him. He really wished he'd been able to get more on the crazy blue chick he'd fought a while back, but... He needed to learn to curb his bloodthirstiness more.

Layers of tension came off in visible waves from the small senshi once the car was turned off. For a second, his breathing was deep and heavy from the relief, both from the sound being stopped and the threat being neutralized. He was also visibly amazed. The other senshi had cut through the machine's defenses and deactivated it, as quickly and easily as a Mauvian could! It was a thoroughly awe-inspiring display of mastery over technology. "I am Sailor..." His jaw trembled a bit. "...Taiyi. Of Xylem. Yes. Thank you for saving us," he bowed graciously to Puck, "and thank you... for... the welcome..."He extended the same gesture to the Negaverse agent, but slower, with a couple of pauses, as he pieced together what they were saying. Earth. Earth. A planet. A different planet. A planet he'd heard of, in tales and stories. A planet none of his people had ever been to, but many had envied. It was a legendary place. A land of abundance and life, like Taiyi itself once had been. "I am not on Taiyi?"His sandals spun him around in a staggered circle, once, then twice, with widened bronze eyes hungry to see. "I am on Earth?"The parking garage wasn't completely closed off. It was aboveground, with half-walls separating it from the outside. From their current vantage, he could make out a clear sky and the silhouettes of living trees. He immediately ran out to the edge to see. A breeze blew through, cutting through the diesel smell and offering to his senses signs of life. The streets were empty, but the air outside was sweet, and the streetlights illuminated patches of parks and evergreens. A large, bright grin took over his features, and he spun back around to look at the Earthlings while laughing with joy. "This is a miracle!!"

Puck would have to look up what xylem was when he got home, because he had no idea what the little Senshi meant. He didn't know much about the aliens either; maybe there was something on his Senshi phone about them. He sure hoped so – he had no idea who to ask about them. The Eternal, ignoring Arsenolite's muttered epithet, watched as Taiyi introduced himself and bowed first to him then to the lieutenant. Polite little fellow, he thought. Then he smiled, watching the small man marvel at where he was. "Yeah, it's something of a miracle, that's for sure," he said, glancing at the Negaverse agent. "A miracle we all haven't killed each other yet. There's a war going on, see, between our faction," and he jerked a thumb at Arsenolite, "and theirs. They want to take over Earth, and us Senshi want to protect it and its people."With a shrug, he grinned at Taiyi. "Sorry, I know that's a lot to dump on you. Best you know the lay of the land, though. So… why are you here? Do you remember?"He realized then that he should have asked that question after he'd gotten Taiyi somewhere safe – this was free information for the Negaverse otherwise. Too late now, though – Arsenolite would likely already have a pile of info to relay at this point anyway.

Arsenolite gave another affronted scoff, raising his eyebrows at Puck. Wow, this guy had some nerve! "We don't want to take over," he said, rolling his eyes, "Just protect Earth and its people from, y'know, aliens. With ill intent." He tacked on the last sentence quickly, nodding at Taiyi. Because as far as he could tell, and as much as he really hated the way the Negaverse seemed to be changing their opinions on aliens in general (i.e., the Valencians), he had to try and play nice here. Failure was not an option. "You seem alright, far as I can tell." He really hoped he was doing this right.

Nothing could have deflated Taiyi's sudden enthusiasm as quickly and easily as the mention of war. The very second Puck uttered it, the smaller senshi's former look of shock and weariness began to haunt his eyes again. He avoided the gaze of both his unwitting welcomers as, upon being asked, do you remember? visions of violence and industrial decay crowded his mind, all competing to be the first to be mentioned. He ultimately said nothing, but clearly remembered plenty. None of it helped him understand his situation, or which of these two people were right. They were each telling a very different story. One spoke of an evil faction trying to rule the Earth. The other, from that same faction, spoke of needing to protect the Earth from evil aliens. Sailor Taiyi already was familiar with how deception could be used for conquest. He had seen the results of such a thing with his own eyes, since long before he had awakened as a senshi. At the same time, Puck's explanation filled him with questions: why wasn't he on Puck? Why did he say 'us senshi?' Did that mean there was more than the two of them here? The only thing he was sure of was that he didn't want to be involved in more war. All he could think to say were questions that felt rude to ask. So, instead of putting more of his own voice into the conversation, he waited to hear how Puck would respond to the man with the strange aura.

Immediately Puck regretted saying anything about the war. He dropped into a crouch next to the deflated alien senshi and smiled. "Hey, it's alright, really, Taiyi," he said as soothingly as possible. "This isn't like a warzone or anything. The sky is still clear, there are trees and forests around here, the people have hope… it's a beautiful place. And us Senshi are determined to keep it that way."He glanced over his shoulder at Arsenolite. "The Negaverse work for Metallia's interests, not humanity's. They say they're protecting Earth, and maybe that's what they've been told, but they don't care about its people. People are fodder for starseeds and energy as far as they're concerned." Looking the Captain in the eye, he said sternly, "We're not aliens. We're the former Senshi of our worlds reincarnated on Earth." That may have been more information than he really wanted to give Arsenolite, but he doubted the Negaverse officer would believe him anyway. Turning back to Taiyi, Puck offered his hand. "Let me take you someplace safe, where we can talk more, okay?"
