Name- My name is Sam.
Age- I'm currently 27.
Instrument(s)- I play guitar (or am pretty much in the process of learning the instrument properly).
Favorite Band- My all-time favorite is Helloween. Other major favorites are Savatage, Crimson Glory, Mesarthim, Brymir, Arion, Gojira, Æther Realm, Korpiklaani, Obscura, Iron Savior, Eidolon, Dark Tranquillity, and too many others to continue naming.
Favorite Genre- I am 100% a Power Metal junkie. I'm also a big fan of Technical Death Metal (thanks to my fiance - I got him into Power Metal, he got me into Technical Death Metal), Folk Metal and Doom Metal.
Band Name- If I had a band, I'd probably just play guitar with my fiance, his housemate on bass, and my brother on keyboards or something. No idea what the name would end up being (but for years I hoped to have a band called Azrael Descends).

Origin story- I got into Metal sometime right after High School. I was starting to like harder rock music by that point and I forget how it all happened, but eventually I got into Queensryche, found Todd La Torre, found Crimson Glory through him and then it just kind of developed from there (basically discovering bands through mutual members of bands I was enjoying). Eventually I found Helloween and they've since had the biggest impact on my life.
I've been in the guild here for a few years now but I really haven't been around Gaia much the last year or so due to work and such. I hope to try to be around a little bit more, especially since I'm getting more and more into different genres of Metal all the time and seeing a ton more bands live now that I finally have a concert-going partner in crime.

Name - I go by Agon. This isn't quite my real name but it's been my online identity for a decade and a half that it's real enough anyway.
Age - Turning 31 this April. Let's ******** go.

Instrument(s) - Mostly ******** around on the guitar. I'm also something of a classically trained pianist, but my contact with a piano has been way too irregular over the past decade that my skills have mostly eroded, lol. I've been contemplating buying a cheap bass, but an injury to my left thumb that is still healing (and the resulting hit to my bank account because <********> American healthcare) has kinda put that on hold.

I like to sing. I'm not particularly good at it and I like to overshoot my comfortable range, but I do at least have a sense of the right key. I'm teaching myself how to do proper metal shrieks/growls, but ******** is that hard when you live in an apartment complex.

Favorite Band - ********, this is a hard one. If I have to narrow it down... At one point it was Symphony X; at another point, it was Nevermore. For a while it was Scar Symmetry. Riverside is another one. These days I rather like Archspire and I think Dean Lamb is funny as hell but I'm not super invested in them if you catch my drift? I also have a massively soft spot for early In Flames, though I haven't cared about their material since Clayman, so what now...

You know what, it really isn't that hard. Madder Mortem has got to be my favorite band. I don't say that I listen to metal for feels, but they just get me there every single time and I love them for it.

Non-metal favorite is a lot easier. It's gotta be My Chemical Romance. Though Muse is really damn close.

Favorite Genre - Among metal: melodic death metal, melodic black metal, and atmospheric black metal (these days I like the dissonant/menacing side of it though, not that I have anything against blackgaze because I dig that too). Also a sucker for good, well-written prog that doesn't devolve into wankery, but I have nothing against wankery per se because I like tech-death like Archspire and First Fragment, lol. I like most metal genres except for drone and funeral doom (sorry).

Otherwise, I am rather into pop punk, emo, and synthpop.

Band Name - I was once in a band called Chives and Chickory... many years ago. I was the "bassist" though my bass was a keyboard, and I did backing vocals.

In all seriousness, right now I'm working on a ton of other projects (not all metal), though I don't know that I'll be able to release an album while I'm in grad school, lol. Anteros Reigns is my current one-man black metal project, and if my department decides not to fund me over the summer I'll probably direct my energies to that.

Origin story - My dad (who is also a guitarist, and a better one than I am) played me a lot of Deep Purple and Guns N' Roses stuff all the time, and I really began to have a taste for guitarry stuff. When I was in middle school, some of the cooler kids began listening to Linkin Park, which was some of the heaviest stuff I'd heard at the time. While these kids were assholes and picked on me sometimes, they appreciated that I appreciated Linkin Park (and memorized all the lyrics to Hybrid Theory). The guitarist/bandleader of said band gave me a copy of Slipknot's Vol. III album one Christmas. My classmates also began getting into stuff like Avenged Sevenfold and Trivium. Then my library actually had some Guitar World magazines, wherein I found Nevermore and basically immediately fell in love. I also grew up playing a lot of Guilty Gear, which introduced me to bands like Slayer and Napalm Death (not directly, but through the references in the game). Of course, there's the internet, and there were a bunch of other metalheads on the Word Games subforum (where I, for example learned to appreciate black metal). And then I just kept going and going for more extreme stuff, lolz.

Name- You can just call me Iuzmi heart
Age- 27
Instrument(s)- I played the flute back in high school but I love the drums. Im currently trying to learn guitar but...I got these tiny hands. crying
Favorite Band- There's a lot of bands that have my heart but, when people ask for my favorite it's undoubtedly Green Day. They were the first punk band I got into, thanks to my awesome mom ofc the Ramones, Dead Kennedys and stuff like that followed suite. But yes, deff Green Day. They hold a lot of meaning in my life and I agree with there outlooks and opinions of a lot of things. They also helped me through a really hard time in my life where I was being abused by my sperm donor and going through self mutilation as an escape route when I was 13. I've come a long way in my life, and they've just always been a major part of that.
Favorite Genre- Punk
Band Name- I wish I was in a band.

Origin story- Well, I grew up a lot weirder then I realized, honestly didn't realize up til the last couple of years when I started telling my story to people. I grew up in the Ohio valley in the hillsides so I grew up on a "hilljack" life style, despite always hating it. My dad tried to push me into hunting and s**t like that but I love animals and I'd rather not participate in their demise. I was taught kids were seen and not heard and double for me cause I am female and was the only daughter on top of that.
My dad use to take me and my brothers to the "Meat Shed" when my mom was at work cause he was always helping my aunt process deer meat so I learned how to cut, grind and package deer meat at the tender age of 5. Nothing shapes a child's developing mind like poking a deer brain with a stick with your older brother. But yeah child hood and teen years sucked, early 20s weren't much better. Now Im engaged living in Colorado and selling edibles. So you can say things are 1000% better.

Name- Storm
Age- 29
Instrument(s)- Only ever learned the flute
Favorite Band- I cannot pick just one
Favorite Genre- deathcore, metalcore, prog, melodic, just depends on my mood
Band Name- uh I was in one in high school called green halcyon and the obscure

Origin story- got into doom, nu, and symphonic stuff hardcore throughout elementary and high school. Ended up getting into heavier stuff like death and black in HS while maintaining my love for the other genres. I listened to some metalcore here and there over time, eventually transitioning more towards that and deathcore. My taste is all over the place. Big against metal elitists that snub genres they don’t enjoy and are rude about it. I try to keep an open mind.

Name: Mimi

Age: 31

Instrument(s): Drums since 03', stopped for quite some time around 07 and i'm picking it up again god i missed to play.

Favorite Band: This is a bit like asking who you like more ma or pa innit.

Favorite Genre: All in all i've never been picky about metal subgenres but i'm very fond of NWOBHM

Band Name: So get this, back then in 04' when coming up with names a friend of ours came with Bloody Smegma (we were a Thrash band without the first H) because verbatim "Well since we have a girl in the band and girls bleed we're calling it Bloody Smegma because you gals bleed once a month and we produce smegma (that guy left this world back in 2012, miss ya Poncho)

Origin story: All the way back then when I was in kindergarten they'd leave me with my older brother in the afternoon and he just left me playing games on his PC and the things i'd play the most were Doom, Doom 2, Command & Conquer and such. He also had a bunch of VHS i shouldn't have watched at that age. So sometimes i'd just sit there listening to the soundtracks in a ******** trance...it just clicked with me.

One day one of his friends came around looking for him, he was an exchange student from Finland and i was doing my usual routine of listening to Doom 2's ost and i remember i was listening to this at the time https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9E7MPl4G2Qc and this guy asked me something along the lines of "what's wrong don't you know how to play? want me to put something else for you?" and i told him i was just listening to the music and he asked me if i really liked that sound and he gave me a two cassette mixtapes. one had some undecipherable black metal, some Bathory (i explicitly remember it had call from the grave in it), Slayer and some other stuff and the other cassette had stuff like Iron Maiden, priest, Saxon, Crucifixion...you know, the works.

My brother lost the cassette with heavier stuff so i was left with the classics and man i wish i still had them.

My brother also listened to some cool s**t back then. Lots of Alice Cooper, The Doors, Pixies Alice in Chains and classic electronica so my formative years were pretty important for my musical taste in general.
