Varda huffed as she looked around from the alley wall that she had been leaning against, looking to see if there were any civilians walking the streets. She hadn't been having a good day. First she had learned that her training was being held up, the roller derby team had to practice 10 miles away due to the rink being out of order... one thing after another. And everything came in threes, so whatever the third one was, she hadn't encountered it yet. She had decided to relieve some of her stress by powering up and sending out her wraiths to drain some people. Only problem was the location that was usually bustling with quite a few people had suddenly decided it was going to become a ghost town. Was this the third? Or had something happened in the city that made people avoid the area? Whatever it was, it was making her even more annoyed than she had been before. The next person who walked by was getting drained by both wraiths into unconsciousness. Not the best thing to do, and it wasn't as though she had to drain energy immediately, but it was all just so frustrating! Then a couple walked by and she grinned. At least a wraith could have one target each. She took out their mirror shards and sent them on their way. However as soon as she had done so she felt another Chaos energy. This one wasn't a Dark Mirror though... Corrupt? What were they doing here?

This wasn't the first time Adonis struck out on draining opportunities that night. The first time, he was foiled by some nosey senshi that busted into the diner he was in — he'd been draining the couple in the booth behind him, hands under the table, until she caused everyone to get up and leave. Hit him straight in the back of the head with some beam magic, too.
The next one came when a car tried to swerve into him, just as he was trying to relieve someone of their starseed. He didn't end up paste, but that was only because he forsook the chance at the starseed.
Then came a dry spell, where he couldn't find a damn soul. Not even a dealer or a girl for hire, nothing. No smokers stepping out to take five. No truckers dropping out of their cabs to take a leak.
He'd gone a solid mile with no people in sight — no cars, nothing. He thought about calling it a night; winter chill still clung to the rooftops, and the air was as frosty as his old work partner. Was about to teleport when he heard a giggle, then paused. Looked over the crooked gutter on a gabled roof. Saw exactly what he was looking for: a pair of people, all cuddled up and taking it slow down the road.
So he dropped down to street level and — how about that. One of those fabled Dark Mirror were hanging around. Looked like some of those wraiths, too. He'd better make it quick, then.
"Hey," he called to the pair as he rose from a crouch. "This yours?"

Varda had been a bit surprised at the Corrupt's appearance. She hadn't met too many of them. And while she didn't mind them in the area, what she did mind was the fact that he was going after the couple that she had targeted! She growled to herself as she called her wraiths back. If this went bad she did not one of them being destroyed in the event that the Corrupt could do such a thing. When they came back, taking much longer than she wished, she moved a bit around the corner and yelled over to the couple "It's a distraction! He's just trying to mug you!" She said emerging from behind her corner. Sure, her uniform looked dumb on one end and perhaps a silly looking costume on the other, but she had no fear of being spotted. Civilians didn't know what Dark Mirror looked like. They were looking for white, not black. At least with what she said it might be a bit more believable than "he's going to drain your energy!" She ran towards the Corrupt while saying "You two better get out of here! I'll make sure he doesn't follow you!" She said, putting herself in-between them and the Corrupt. The couple started to move away, but whether that was far enough away from the Corrupt to avoid draining was a different story. She looked at him, a glare on her face. If she couldn't go and drain the only two people out and about in the city, then neither could he!

Adonis sighed something bone-deep and weary, his breath a cloud of steam that rose toward the dark sky. His shoulders drooped as he stooped with the weight of his exhaustion and disappointment. "Really?" He tossed over his shoulder at the approaching Mirror. "Mugging?"
They coulda tag-teamed this pair of twits, but instead, she had them running for shelter. It was cute how they still held hands as they ran, one loathe to abandon the other, but it was a hundred times more irritating for how they would both be going home with all of their energy.
And their starseeds, which Adonis was reasonably sure the Dark Mirror didn't want.
"Slow down, Stranger," he urged as he turned toward her, back to the retreating couple, and started walking backward. "Wouldn't want your knees to get Skinned."
He opened his arms outward, palm up, and part of his uniform eroded away. Nothing like the feel of a good chemical peel to discourage a few bad-faith assumptions in her fellow Chaos Friends.ssbrosb Skinned ;;

Miss Chance: Breaking eye contact, going out of range
Effect: Adonis holds his arms out, palms up, and the gloves on his uniform burn away. The change is mimicked in his targeted opponent, who he must make eye contact with, and they feel the effects of a mild chemical burn. They see a few layers of skin peeling off, some irritation, and some decent pain. Only occurs on the arms, and can be interrupted by attacking Adonis before his uniform manifests any changes, preventing him from making eye contact, or by shutting him up somehow before he can utter the name of the attack. Once the duration ends, their body goes back to normal (as does his uniform).

She glared at him. "What else was I supposed to say that wouldn't sound crazy?" Honestly, they would have thought she was insane if she had shouted something about him stealing their souls! At least a mugging was something more realistic, to civilians at least. Soul stealing was all too real on the powered side. What she hadn't expected was his magic to go off. One of the words he had said must have caused it, something she thought that was both an advantage and disadvantage if one said it at the wrong time. Still, she immediately felt her arms burning and she looked at her own arms to see some of her skin coming off! Letting her brain work a bit, she thought that it had to be an illusion... but d*** did it hurt like it really was coming off! It didn't feel like any adrenaline had kicked it, most likely because the pain was sudden, but knew she needed the boost. "A**hole!" She yelled before moving one of her fists up, flinching at the pain, and yelling, "Victory Assured Varda!" It immediately felt as though she had gotten the adrenaline boost she needed. The pain was still there, but it was much more dulled now. "Target stealer!" She said before she ran up to him and attempted to sweep him off of his feet as she attempted a leg sweep! Quote: Victory Assured A more powerful version of her first attack. But this time, a bright glow effect comes from whatever fist is being used, as bright as a flashlight, but not blinding. She says the name of her target, such as "Victory Assured Varda!" and the target gets an adrenaline rush/second wind. They also feel a boost of confidence/refreshed as though it's the very start of the battle again! Can be used twice now in battle for 30 seconds each. Strickenized Sorry the reply took so long!

"Sheesh, you don't need to pick the most a*****e thing in your arsenal. Ever thought of something like, 'hey, Friend, got a cigarette'?" The town had enough smokers in it, small wonder why. It wasn't like they had to be at each other's throats; some quick call like that would at least let them coordinate. Share the spoils, instead of scaring them away for everyone.
But this one was straight up a*****e, through and through. Maybe she was a one-off, rather than the standard for their Court.
Yep, she came charging after him, so bright he had to squint, calling him names and everything.
Whatever, she could have the area. As she caught up to him, he vanished, and the rest of the night was hers.ssbrosb Sorry about the lag, too heart Lost muse for this boy.
