"We need help. Our device was broken, our prisoner escaped--... killed a Page… the Negaverse showed up and took Ganymede. We don't know if she's even still alive, but we haven't…"
Sessrumnir thought it would be easy to talk to Soleiyu. He had helped before, and offered help if they needed it. He knew that Michel might have mentioned something but maybe he was too focused on his own goals.
His forearm was bandaged from a still aching cut across from a General's dagger. He was grateful for the helmet that he usually thought was stupid, because it protected the back of his head rather than the front, but after the bitchy little fire General jumped him, he was glad his hair had only been singed and the burn marks shaped like his chainmail along his back would likely fade in a couple more weeks.
It was cold out that night, or he assumed it was cold since there were flakes of snow falling. The orb around his neck seemed to have settled into a somewhat steady pulse -- the only thing that gave him any comfort.
He didn't look at Soleiyu as he spoke. He couldn't. He didn't want to see judging or accusatory eyes. He knew he should have killed that General when he had the chance…
Maybe… or maybe it would have made things worse, he didn't know. He felt like he didn't know anything. He hated asking for help, but he was desperate, and he couldn't let his brother wander around on his own when he could barely focus on anything as it was.

Soleiyu hadn’t really known what he was getting into when Sessrumnir called him; he assumed it was something with that strange, otherworldly Senshi of his. And yet, he’d arrived alone.
Soleiyu was quiet as he listened to Sessrumnir speak, acutely aware of the way he wouldn’t look at him. His tail swished behind him, brushing aside the snow as it fell around him.
“I’m sorry for your loss.” Losses, maybe. If they were lucky. Was lucky the right word? Maybe they could rescue their princess. Maybe she was dead. Maybe worse.
Sessrumnir probably knew this already, so there was not point in saying it out loud.
“What can I help with?”

What could anyone help with? That was why he'd asked Soleiyu to meet him, right? Because he was removed enough from the situation to think rationally. Maybe. Probably. He couldn't ask anyone else. He couldn't ask Devyn for his thoughts--
Although why his mind went to someone he only knew for a few days before returning to his world, Sessrumnir didn't know. Or maybe he did and didn't want to think about it.
"I don't know." It was extremely unhelpful, he knew. "Is Michel okay? We didn't get a chance to check on him. With the number that showed up, his presence likely kept the rest of us alive. He had to fight two of them, he… I'm grateful to him for his help." He just wished things turned out differently.
"I guess… if you hear anything, just let me know?"

Soleiyu did not judge Sessrumnir for his lack of substantial information. There wasn’t any point to it, he was doing his best.
“Michel is,” he paused, shrugged, and then sighed. “Michel. To be honest, I haven’t seen much of them. He doesn’t talk much these days. He’s been out a lot lately, so he must be doing well enough to keep functioning. He mentioned that they’d taken your Princess. He told me to keep an ear out, but I haven’t heard much of anything. I didn’t know about your Page.”
“I don’t think Michel knows any of their names, though. He gave me a few descriptions so I passed them along for people to avoid, but.”
You didn’t really get information by avoiding the people who might know anything.
“Do you have any names? Anyone that you want me to look out for? I don’t know that many Negaverse Agents, but I can try to see if any of them have any information. If any of them might be able to help.”

Sessrumnir shook his head. He had less information than he would have liked. There were more of them that showed up than he'd expected to make an attempt. It was definitely planned, and he wondered how they would have found the location if it hadn't been for that Corrupted Senshi they'd originally tried to help.
"There was a Senshi that seemed willing to purify. Blond hair, wears yellow and purple and has a giant bow. Goes by Cymophane to the Negaverse, but his purified name would have been Plisetskaya… if Jet didn't show up and interrupt," he frowned. "Empyrean had talked to him in the weeks before everything happened, trying to reassure him that he'd be safe, but now…"
He didn't know if they'd found and killed the Senshi after Jet went missing.
"The only ones I know their names are Jet, who wears teal and black. Has curly brown hair and should be killed on sight," he growled at the ground, wishing he'd ignored his father. Maybe then he would have been there with them. "Aquamarine is his lover or something. Blond. Bitchy looking face. Wears navy and a lighter blue. He's also dangerous."
"They brought youma with them. One was entirely on fire," he said, wondering if there was any merit in thinking the General he'd met before had been turned into a full youma. He was only half, before.
"Oberon said he saw the illusion of Faustite, before it turned out to be a youma-- a swarm. Another youma that blended into the shadows helped destroy the device we had."
"There were three other Generals with them," Michael added, trying to remember them as he lowered his hand from where he'd absently lifted it to rub at the burns that had healed. He was glad he hadn't faced the youma straight on and only felt the lick of flames from behind.
He held out his arm to show the still healing gash from one of the General's weapons. "One with purple hair, another with darker hair that fought Michel. And another that was somehow able to stop my summon from murdering them all. And they had an Eternal Senshi with them that blinded people. Wore oranges-- kimono-like outfit. Dark hair."

Soleiyu listened carefully while Sessrumnir spoke, and though he didn’t take notes he seemed to be logging all of the details in his mind for later. Faustite was a name he’d heard before, from Lysithea and Malus and Michel, and there was a point in time where he briefly considered if Lysithea could have had anything to do with this.
He hoped not. Michel would have seen her if she was there, though, but he couldn’t help but worry about her anyway.
“I’ll keep an eye out for them. If I hear anything, I’ll call you.” He’d dig through his records when he got home and see if anything seemed consistent with other reports he’d picked up. But, he couldn’t help but look at Sessrumnir and wonder how hard he’d been pushing himself already. “Are you taking care of yourself? That arm doesn’t look good, is that the worst you’ve got or is that just the worst you’ve got that you’re willing to show me?”

“Are you a medic, too?” Sessrumnir wondered, his lip twitching into something of a smile for a moment, because of course he would get nagged at for something. “Or are you going to start harassing me like Dev--”
The smile that had been pulling at his lips disappeared, and he lowered his arm back down to his side. It had been weeks since Devyn went back to Alastor. The pulse of his necklace eased up from the erratic pattern it had been before, but that didn’t mean Sessrumnir worried any less.
“Yeah, that’s the worst of it,” he said quietly, but shifted his arm out of direct sight so Soleiyu didn’t have to scrutinize it any more than he had.
“You’re sure Alastor will be able to get back to Earth with that phone?” he heard himself ask before he could think better of it. He knew Devyn had a lot of work to do, but… it had been so long already. Then again, after a thousand years, what was another few hundred…? Except he promised...

Soleiyu squinted at the man for a moment. He bit back any retort he might have been preparing before the obvious shift in Sessrumnir’s mood, if only because that was a bit alarming to him. He was surprised that he’d let Alastor out of his sight given how strange he was, but it didn’t take long to piece together that if he was gone, he’d gone back to his Homeworld.
“Please,” he huffed, and somehow managed to sound equally nagging and reassuring, “I’m a professional. Of course he’ll be able to get back with that phone.”
Maybe a part of him was sympathetic; he didn’t know how long he’d stayed, or how long he’d been gone for, but something about the way Michael had asked made him pause. “How long has he been gone for?”

Sessrumnir let out a suffering sigh at the nagging, as strangely reassuring as it also sounded. He didn’t want to be so insulting to Soleiyu that he would leave, but he was also under a lot of stress at the moment. Trying to find out just a little about what to expect for Alastor was the least he could do to help his own worries.
“Since Christmas,” he said with a frown. It had already been almost two months by this point. Empyrean was dead. Ganymede was missing or dead. Or worse. So the fact that clearly a lot could happen within that time frame was… unsettling for Sessrumnir.
“Do you know if there are others like him? Senshi, or maybe even Knights who have been alive on dying worlds for centuries? I have nothing to prove it, but I feel as though something with the Velencians showing up, or maybe that moon fragment they blew up, has something to do with the strange things going on,” he shared, well aware that he probably sounded ridiculous.

Soleiyu tilted his head just slightly; something in the distance had caught his attention. His ear twitched once.
“I’ve met another Senshi. She had no idea what happened. She was staying with a friend, one of the Senshi in my Court. I’m not sure what the timeline is exactly, I’m still trying to piece that together, but she was surprised to learn that the Moon and Knight Academy had fallen. If it were an isolated incident, with one Senshi, I don’t know. I might not think too much of it. Chalk it up to old magic. But two, in such a short time period?”
His tail twitched, because he obviously had a lot of thoughts about the subject.
“I don’t know what role the Velencians might have played, but I can’t be convinced that two Senshi, here, in such a short time period is a coincidence. That moon fragment had a lot of energy in it. I’ve been thinking about it for a while. It stretched from our sky and beyond. I don’t know what the extent of that sort of power could do. Strong enough to break through whatever barriers kept them locked away? Strong enough to bring them to Earth? I don’t know. I haven’t seen a Velencian to ask, but I don’t even know if they could be trusted, anyway. I’ll keep researching, I’ll get back to you if I hear anything or have any suspicions.”

“There’s life on Ganymede’s world again,” Sessrumnir said, frowning as he did so. “Butterflies at least. Maybe more. And she recognized Alastor. Not current Ganymede, but she knew him in her past life. And… I had a memory with him in it as well,” he admitted.
He didn’t know what to think of something like that back in December when they ran into Soleiyu for the first time. He was still putting everything together and trying to determine if they could even trust Alastor.
“Something’s happening, and I don’t know if it’s for better or worse yet.” He hoped with the extra Senshi they would be able to eliminate the Negaverse, but Earth might just end up overpopulated. And if they got into a power struggle…
He sighed and shook his head to dismiss the thought, and then nodded in agreement. “Thank you. I’ll keep an eye out as well. I appreciate your help, Soleiyu.”

Soleiyu tilted his head with obvious interest at the topic of life. He stayed interested as Sessrumnir spoke, and maybe there was more that he could have asked but Sessrumnir looked so tired. And, Soleiyu doubted he had any real answers for all the questions that had suddenly popped into his head.
“Go home and rest,” he said, not quite with any authority but at least with a bit of worry. “I don’t want something bad to happen to you. The later it gets, the more trouble comes out. I’ll come find you again soon. Keep in touch, even if it’s just for something small. I’ll check in on you.”
Not just to make sure that he was still doing okay, even if that was the most important part. He wanted to know more about life on other worlds. Wanted to know more about his theories about what the Velencians had unleashed.
He wanted to investigate such things, himself, too.
Maybe the next time they spoke, they’d have answers to go over.
Or, at least some good news to share.
