Hey everyone, it's been a while. As we prepare for the rest of 2022, new music of all kinds is finding its way to our ears. What's caught your eye this year?

2022. Two years and counting with the ongoing pandemic. Such a shame. However, for the musical aspect of things, it's done wonders. My favorite artist Devin Townsend has constantly flooded social media with content, weather it be live recordings, bootleg albums or Livestreams. All haven't disappointed me a bit.

Yes, the increase in album releases is nothing short of astonishing. Still wondering where the guild captain and all of it's members are, but that's just me. Currently awaiting a Merciful Fate and King Diamond album but I've been waiting on that since 07. It would be nice to see CDs come back the way vinyl seems to be selling. However, physical album format seems to be a thing of the past.

Though the album is slated for release in 2023, I'm listening to Goddmack's newest single "Surrender" on a repeated basis. The new Slipknot album is decent as well.

I'm a little on the cusp with the new Slipknot release. It's a little different but in good ways. It's going to grow on me with each listen, I'm sure. I'm just not good on change.
The End, So Far was met with critical acclaim. At Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream publications, the album received an average score of 85, based on 7 reviews.
Luke Morton of Kerrang! commented that The End, So Far was more of an album "rather than a selection of songs". He welcomed the new direction the band had taken with tracks such as the opening track "Adderall", a "six-minute, synth-driven track - with all clean singing", while still noting that the album retained Slipknot's trademarked heaviness, with "primal screams, blastbeats, and more scratching wizardry from Sid Wilson than we’ve heard in a long time".
Andrew Trendell of NME gave the album four stars out of five, comparing the band's new direction to David Bowie, Tool and Stone Temple Pilots, while also noting that heavier tracks like "Hivemind" and "Heirloom" would provide comfort for "Slipknot fans of old".
Blabbermouth.net too noted the band's new musical style, highlighting that, while singles such as "The Dying Song" and "The Chapeltown Rag" provided "skull-rattling heaviness and ululating waves of deathly riffing", tracks such as "Adderall" and "Medicine for the Dead" showed the band's, and in particular vocalist Taylor's, versatility and evolution.
Thomas H Green's review for The Arts Desk was more mixed, however. While praising songs such as "Medicine for the Dead" and "Acidic" and "the rampaging metal of ‘Warranty’ and ‘H377’", he criticized the album’s lyrical themes as "the usual sixth form horror-obsessed repulsion"

I've been waiting for Devin Townsend's "Lightwork" to be released for some time now. We're very close. So far the two lead singles from the album have peaked my interest.

Ozzy Osbourne's "Patient Number 9" album is an absolute star-studded masterpiece. For all you metalheads out there, I recommend a listen.
