One starseed down, one to go. Then he had some party planning to do.
He'd already managed a good portion of energy draining — enough, he thought, to cover at least part of Sylvite's weekly quota — but it wouldn't be enough to do the whole thing. Starseeds were their own separate quota, too, but maybe the people in charge would make an exception if Sylvite turned in a combination of energy and starseeds. That had to count for something.
He still felt sore from the previous night. Still had bandages all over him, up his neck, on his arms. Maybe tonight he'd find himself a pacifist. Yeah, those were the easiest targets. He'd gone on patrols before, hoping for one of those. Most of the time, he hadn't found any.
In the colder months, the streets were mostly empty. The rooftops were a little more cluttered, but not by much — no one wanted to go fighting in unbroken snow. Hell, he didn't even like walking in it; his weird shoes didn't exactly come with any traction. So he tried to hop from building to building, circumvent that whole affair, but that only worked when he didn't go sliding down the next roof. So went the cycle: jump, slide, jump, slide, jump, slide.
Nearly sent himself off another building before he decided, ******** it, he would walk on the sidewalks like everyone else. Didn't get far that way, either.
But this time, he didn't get far because he heard someone hail him.
He turned, aura already on the senses, and there it was: a Page approaching him. Someone who approached him head on, no weapon in hand. Cool, this might end well for him.
"Are you a senshi?" Stockier fellow by the look of him, bronzed from a tanning bed (probably). Hair was a dark auburn, combed forward like he was trying to revive scene kid hair. Might've gotten somewhere with it, too, for the handsome face underneath it.
Adonis motioned to himself with a flourish. "Sure am."
"Great. I thought you felt different from the other Knights. They said I should look for a senshi to team up with." The Page seemed relieved, even friendly.
Poor b***h had no clue. Adonis smiled. "Yeah? Gonna give me some support while we fight crime in the middle of the night?"
"That's the idea. They said that a senshi was my best shot, after all. If you're okay with it, I've got a patrol route all planned out already… Hang on, I've got the map here somewhere." The Page started patting down his thick robe, searching underneath the seams for hidden pockets. Looked like he had quite a few to go through before he'd find that handy paper he'd been looking for.
This couldn't have gone better. "Oh, I think I see it. Right there —" Adonis reached for the Page's chest, reached past it, reached into an area he shouldn't have been able to breach. The Page looked down without thinking much of it, but before the shock of what was happening could cross his face, Adonis had already plucked himself the vibrant little gem. The confused Page crumpled to the floor thereafter, half-indented into the snow.
Adonis looked the starseed over before banishing it to subspace. It wasn't a pacifist, but the Page worked just as well.
Adonis dusted his hands together, whistled to himself, and vanished to the depths of Negaspace thereafter.
