True to her word the Mauvian had told no one of her quest. Even as Athalia had sat with her and listened to her story, had comforted her as she struggled with what had happened in his actions and her perceived personal failings. Not once had she uttered the words that even after all of that, she had chosen to help a weary man in need of her help. She had told no one of her decision to extent a willing paw so that the one who had hurt them could rest easy.
...She had told no one, that she felt there was more to this story.
Yet as the weeks drew on she had grown all to aware that while she had promised to deliver Caerynn's starseed to the cauldron, the longer it took, the longer it would place a strain on the Commodore. Like all of them it seemed that he desperately needed rest and while her research had intially yielded no results, it had been a casual glance up towards the stars that had given her the much needed epiphany she sought.
When Athalia had roared for Cosmos he had been summoned to a strange place. The place he had described had been the Celestial Theatre, and while Cosmos hadn't been there, the console had been. Namielle remembered it of course, it had been in a rather sorry state as she and her fellow Mauvians had attempted to fix it. However as they had dusted it off and given it a little TLC, it appeared that it had felt a little better. It made sense that if she asked the right questions of that console then maybe she'd find her way to Cosmos.
Her paws swept in to the tiny subspace pocket and after a moment, fished out the small irridescent star brooch from inside. It was a pretty little thing, something she hadn't managed to fit on to her collar without clashing, but it was a treasure that she kept close all the same.
Mmm, but how did one access the celestial theatre?
She wasn't in the business of howling at the sky like a certain man was.
Perhaps it was the concentration that she held over the brooch at the time, or simply the strong desire to go there that had taken hold; but no sooner had she wiped her paw over the brooch's surface than she found herself in the heart of the threatre with the ancient console ahead of her.
"Well, let's see if this works," she murmured softly as she drew near, clambering up on to the console so that she could tap at its face. Having pulled the little jewelled box out from subspace, she carefully set it beside her, Caerynn's starseed held with in and cleared her throat.
"Computer, can I make an appointment?"

The console slowly flickered to life, as if it needed a few good seconds to boot up. The screen was bright, a little oversaturated, but seemed to be in a pleasant mood–all things considered. It spoke in a metallic voice with faux cheer, and responded: “Appointments can be scheduled here. Who would you like to see?” It didn’t seem aware of the starseed, or aware of much of anything, at least. But, it was running smoother than before. There were still obvious signs of damage to the console, and the text on the screen was entirely illegible, but there was something peaceful about it now. About the whole room. The stars on the ceiling sparkled, as bright as those of the true night sky, and the designs seemed to shift ever so slowly. It might not be able to compare to the true beauty of the universe, but it was beautiful in its own way–and the Cauldron in the center of it all glowed brightly.

It was alive! Well, in it was alive in a sense and certainly seemed to be behaving a little better than it previously had. Perhaps blowing out some of the dust and tinkering with the aged components had done something. Admittedly she wanted to replace all the parts so that it could function properly but she had to pick her battles and this evening that wasn't why she was here. With other matters of greater significance to attend to she had to place the pursuit of improving technology to one side.
Her ears swivelled ever so slightly at the question though and she took a breath. She had to remind herself this was worth a shot. She'd heard the frustration expressed by some when it came to this device and several had certainly gotten more useful intel out of the 'Code' elsewhere down the hallway, but when it came to this theatre, logic stated that perhaps this was the device she needed in order to get what she wanted.
...It was in the room with what looked like the actual cauldron at least (or a visual represenation of it anyway).
"Thank you," she murmured, remembering her manners even though it was 'just technology'.
"Would it be possible to make an appointment with Cosmos?" she asked after a moment and carefully patted the little box she considered to be her most treasured possession at this point in time. "I have someone who desperately needs her help, and I made a promise that I would find a way to reach her."
She paused.
"Or, if that isn't possible, can I have any relevant information pertaining to Cosmos and the best means to contact her?"
...That was also worth a shot. If there was anything Namielle had learned in the years she'd been awake, even the most ridiculous of ideas might bear fruit. Hope existed in all things, especially in instances where one had to take risks and try.

The machine rattled, not unpleasantly, but as if the motor inside of it was just waking up. “Cosmos is available,” it reported, just as the Cauldron in the center of the ceiling flashed with soft, rolling light. “Please hold.” Silence, and then it repeated, “Please hold.” Then, it made a pleasant tinging noise. “Appointment confirmed.” Except, nothing changed. The room stayed completely still, and the console seemed like it had gone into some sort of sleep mode. The seconds ticked on, almost a full minute, and then the energy rippled in the room; in the center beneath the Cauldron, Cosmos shimmered into existence. She wore a faint frown, as if she expected this to be some mistake, but her expression relaxed when she saw Namielle. “I have not been here in a while. I thought it was another mistake. What are you doing here?”

Had she really expected anything more from it? Really? The equivalent of a sad trombone played in her head for a moment and it was with a heavy sigh that she patted the console lightly. She couldn't really expect much of a thousand year console that was in dire need of repair. She wouldn't yell at it and threaten to dismantle it at the moment, it wouldn't have achieved anything...But she really would have much preferred it hadn't turned off.
"Hey," she tapped at it again. "The very least you could have done was answer the -"
Except that for once, it seemed that Namielle might have asked the right question. Rather than pursuing someone who was long dead (or reborn and inaccessible), she had asked for someone that was very much alive. Well, alive in whatever sense Cosmos was supposed to be. It was safe to say Namielle had never really been exposed to who or what she was until now, she'd only been something she was 'aware' of... Just another of those Cosmic entities that didn't 'stuff'.
Yet she was here, a soft and delicate lilt crossing the short distance between Namielle and the middle of the room. It was enough to make the feline startle and she very nearly fell backwards onto the floor. Fortunately she did manage to catch herself and save her dignity in the process, even if she was about to lose it with the squeaky-croak that came out of her mouth.
"Uh..."
Yep. Great start.
"I needed your help," she began.
Little better.
"I know you're probably very busy but I was given a starseed and to be entirely honest I don't even know how he saved it, but if it doesn't go back to the cauldron soon I'm pretty sure that all that effort will be wasted," she quickly picked up her little jewelled box and held it up in her paws carefully.
"I know he's not the most popular among our kind right now but... I think his heart is in the right place?" she shook her head. "He's trying to do the right thing but he couldn't do it himself so -" She paused and peered down at the box sadly. Quite frankly if she could save the young woman, bring back the dead as it were, she probably would have preferred it. However Namielle knew better than to play with entropic magicks that only led to absolute destruction.
"He asked me to find you and I said I would try." She pursed her lips. "So that she can have a new start, after she's whole again..."

Cosmos watched Namielle with curiosity and uncertainty, but it wasn’t until the Mauvian finished speaking that something seemed to click. She might not have known who Namielle was speaking about, but she could feel the starseed even before she’d seen it. “It is damaged,” she said slowly, looking at the box. She seemed unnerved and uncertain but not at all unwilling. She was busy but she always made as much time as she could for something important. This was important. “Let me see it,” she said, and knelt to receive the starseed. “I can feel it calling. It should be in pieces. How did he fix it?”

"I don't really know," Namielle replied honestly as she opened the little box to display the starseed. Still in its bubble, still carefully protected by Lyndin in some capacity, and very clearly splintered. It shouldn't have been possible and yet here it was, in one piece, carefully reconstructed in a manner that she didn't understand. What had taken her by surprise is that Cosmos seemed to have been caught out by the fact that it had been fixed too.
"Very carefully?" she added ruefully and shook her head. "He didn't say how at the time," she admitted and cleared her throat. "I figured I would ask as my 'favour' when I got back," she continued and peered down at the starseed for a moment. Honestly if there was a way for them to save these starseeds themselves when they had previously thought all hope was lost then it was her duty to find out how.
...Even if it sent her on a quest for years to build or learn whatever techniques were involved.
"Is this not supposed to be possible?" she squinted at Cosmos with concern. She hadn't intended to bring an abomination to the Cauldron (if that's what it even was), but given that Cosmos wasn't exactly exuding concern or hostility for it, she assumed it was ok. "Or is it just something that's..."
How did she phrase it.
"Well, something that was maybe a lost art, I don't know," she paused.
"I can always tell you if he tells me?" she offered finally. "As a thank you for saving her?"

“Yes. If you find out, please tell me,” she said; she reached out for the starseed gently and lifted it so she could better observe. It couldn’t quite be called craftsmanship, or healing, but she looked at the thing with scrutiny and could not find it in her heart “This damage should have been irreparable. In the Cauldron, it might have been restored. Might,” she stressed, “If every last little speck had been returned with it. That each piece was kept preserved is impressive enough, but like this,” she turned the starseed over in her hand. “...She is still here. In need of energy, and proper healing. What the Cauldron can provide. But this is not a skill I’ve ever seen. I do not know what this is. I am unwilling to call it a miracle, but…” The look on her face said it was something special, no matter what it was called.

Not a miracle, eh?
That got a wry smile from the feline.
"I know the gentleman in question would probably refer to it as -" she paused, cleared her throat and put on her best imitation of Lyndin.
"Science," she finished. Alas, her imitation of the rather tall and serious man left much to be desired, but her smile did become warm as she considered what she considered to be a miracle. Even if Cosmos wouldn't call it that, Namielle certainly would. There were some things in life that were deemed impossible, others were improbable, but when such things were achieved against all odds it was a miracle.
"You'll look after her, won't you?" she asked after a moment. "I know that I probably won't see her again in my life time, but in the future when she's ready, we'll make sure she has a safe place to call home," she murmured.
Admittedly Namielle didn't know how she could make the world safe yet, but she'd be damned if she didn't give it a good shot. She'd add it to the list of ever growing aspirations, all of which pointed towards one desire.
"But...I'll ask after the Commodore's methods and perhaps he may share them," she paused. "Or I'll keep visiting and wear him down until he does," she mused. "He looks like he could do with a friend or forty, so he might as well accept he's going to be adopted if he doesn't give up that little tidbit any time soon," she chuckled.
...Not that she could force someone of that size and power to do anything, but she'd give it a whirl. Heh, maybe it could be her own version of a little miracle, right?
