((This rp is backdated to about mid January))

For once Linnaeite was feeling pretty good about her evening, even if she was once again having to spend part of it wandering down alleyways - and whilst wandering down alleyways in search of people to energy drain, still wasn't something that really did it for her, she had managed to get some energy–

And enough of it for her to think that she might be able to get away with taking a break.

She'd ended up in a small park, that she'd come across on one of her evening wanderings, sipping at a cup of hot chocolate that she'd powered down briefly in order to pick up, her thoughts mainly on the cute surroundings.

Like the fountain that had been switched off for the winter.

It was quiet.

Peaceful–

And whilst Linnae knew that at some point she would have to get back to alley wandering and to getting more energy for her quota, for the moment she was going to make the most of the quiet.

Hope this works as a start Kyu, we agreed that Michel would menace Linnae - and at some point before the end Rein will step in for a rescure

Michel had settled into an easy routine: power up and get an idea of who was where, pick a target, power down. Sneak up on them.

A Corrupted Senshi–a basic, so no real threat–made for an easy target.

Michel had done this often enough that he was comfortable about it. He powered down and stalked towards where he’d felt the energy signature. He wore nondescript clothes, including a drawn up hood, and a mask that covered his face. In this weather, it was completely reasonable to dress warmly–it was dark, and it was cold.

It was discreet.

Finding her was easy, almost unfairly so. He would have felt bad if she weren’t in the Negaverse. He saw her before he passed through the treeline, and he took that opportunity to power up. When he arrived, he did so with his weapon in hand, and a scowl on his face.

“You, again. You’re an unlucky one, aren't you? You got any information for me?”

Linnaeite had spent days after her encounter with the scary with a capital 'S' blond on edge–

And if she could have gotten away with it then she probably would have tried to avoid going out at all.

Not that, that had ever been an option - not given her sister - and with each blond-less night, she had slowly started to relax.

And the look of horror on her face was likely comical, although Linnae very much laughing–

Nor was the blond, as he stood scowling and holding what looked to very much be an oversized clock hand in his hand.

"I.. No" she said at his question as she frantically tried to stand up, only to end up knocking over the cup of hot chocolate that she had been enjoying. "But I did pass on the message as you said to the General that I'm reporting to."

Because whilst it had gone about as well as expected, she truly had told her sister–

And her sister was a General so that totally counted right?

Right?!

Michel didn’t look impressed by this; he had a short temper and his patience had all but evaporated. He was tired of getting nowhere. Tired of finding no one who knew anything.

This was worse than a needle in a haystack, this was a needle in a mountain of razorblades.

“I guess your General isn’t taking my request seriously, then. So am I going to have to send you back with another message? Does your General not think I’m serious enough, or…?”

He adjusted his weapon in his hand, maybe to remind her just what he was working with.

Not that he wasn’t willing to use his bare hands if need be.

“Do you think your General will look any harder if you disappear, too?”

No her sister hadn't particularly taken it very seriously at all–

Although Linnaeite wasn't about to admit to it out loud, well at least not to the scary blond with a capital 'S' who was starting to look scarier and scarier.

Grey eyes tried to surreptitiously look at the item that he held in his hand, although it was hard to tell if she had succeeded in not being obvious about it - and whilst the item itself appeared to be some sort of oversized clock and something that Linnae would have probably been curious about if things had been different–

However the glowering man holding on to it meant that she didn't really want to find out it the thing was more than some sort of weird oversized clock hand.

She took an automatic step back as he adjusted the thing, strange clock hand or otherwise, as she remembered the way that he had lifted her up on the last occasion when she had been unfortunate enough to cross paths with him and then attempted to take a second at his next question - because Linnae had no idea whether he was being serious about it or not - and truthfully–

She didn't want to find out either.

When she took a step back, Michel took a step forward.

“I asked a question,” he said, in a cold, unfriendly voice. “I hope you don’t think I’m leaving here without any answers. I thought I made myself clear before. What’s your name?”

He didn’t seem like he was going to back down, and even if he didn’t raise his weapon to strike her it was obvious that he was planning something.

She was only a lieutenant. He just had to make sure she didn’t call for backup.

He wasn’t worried.

Linnaeite tried to take another step back as the blond stepped forwards, but stopped when her mind caught up to what she was doing.

"I..." and she wasn't sure if the other was talking about right now or whether he was referring to the last time that she had been unfortunate to cross paths with him, but she didn't particularly want to find out either.

"No, I wasn't trying to run out on you."

A lie - she'd been totally trying to run out on him, or would have if she thought she had the chance - and at the very least she'd been trying to put some distance between the two of them–

But Linnae wasn't going to admit to that.

Instead she said "I'm Linnae, Linnaeite and you really don't need to send me back with another message - I know that you're serious."

And maybe now she'd answered two of his questions he wouldn't push on the others.

Maybe...

But Linnaeite wasn't going to push her luck given that it had been horrible enough to summon the scary blond with a capital 'S' in the first place.

Instead she bit her lip and murmured out "Vestigia quae est in Sprite" because maybe her magic could help her in giving her a chance to put some distance between her and the blond.

Quote:
Vestigia quae est in Sprite

Sailor Arduina calls on her magic which takes the form of a glowing, ethereal sphere of swirling air which she can either keep for herself or send towards (or give to) an ally. She has a few seconds to make a decision and do this before the magic takes effect, denoted by the target (either Arduina or the ally) glowing briefly.

Magical effect: The magic will gift the target with the grace and swiftness of foot of a sprite (for a boost of 10%) for the duration of the attack.

He didn’t see what she’d said, but the last time he’d met her she’d used some sort of magic–hadn’t she?–and he hadn’t known what it did.

He wasn’t going to make the same mistake this time. He wasn’t going to let her get away.

Michel lurched forward and grabbed her wrist, maybe with a bit more pressure than he needed to, but she looked like she was going to run and that was the exact opposite of what he wanted from her.

Was there anything she could give him? Probably not. But he was so tired of not getting anywhere. He was so angry.

“Not so fast,” he said sharply. “You’re not going anywhere.”

Linnaeite had indeed been planning to run and her magic had been key to that plan - because she had been counting on it to give her a boost.

A little bit of an edge.

But whilst Linnae had kept the glowing, ethereal sphere of swirling air that was her magic for herself, she had also made a crucial error–

Because she had forgotten just how fast the blond was.

Grey eyes winced as fingers closed forcibly around her right wrist, just as she'd started to once again step backwards–

And whilst the fact that she hadn't tripped or fallen when her movement was brought to a jerking halt suggested that her magic was indeed operational (as was the way that she had glowed softly), the small boost in grace and speed wasn't going to do much for her–

Well at least not whilst the scary with a capital 'S' blond was holding on to her wrist.

Linnae gave him a look that was one part frustrated and several parts scared as she tried to fruitlessly jerk her hand out of the other's grip.

And it was said frustration that had her blurting out, words tumbling out one after the other "I passed on your message and I know you're serious and I gave you my name... And look I don't know how to find someone who's always on fire because I don't know how that even works - but I've been trying!"

Well at least kind of and maybe not as much as she perhaps could have - but Linnae certainly wasn't going to admit to that out loud.

Apologies for taking so long, work was pretty insane this week. I'll get the other two tagged as soon as I can.

The more she struggled, the more pressure he used to clamp down on her wrist.

“I want to believe you,” he said, exasperated and angry. “But when you try to run like this, it really doesn’t inspire trust. I think it would be incredibly easy to get that information if you were trying. I don’t want to babysit what you’re doing. You made a commitment to me. I let you off easy because I expected you were going to keep your word. Now, I’m not so sure you have.”

Seriously, was the Negaverse so broken that they didn’t even know who was in their ranks? Someone on fire had to be the source of gossip, even if you didn’t know his name or legacy.

“Tell me who you told. Give me their name. I want to know everyone you’ve spoken to, everything you’ve done.”

Linnaeite tried to do her best to bite back the automatic whimper as the blond's grip tightened on her wrist to the point of pain–

But it was hard to tell if she'd succeeded.

She let her hand fall slack, because it was clear, painfully so, that she wasn't strong enough to jerk herself free - and it didn't look like the blond was going to let her go anytime soon, even though she didn't think she would be able to answer his questions with anything that he wanted to hear, given that she didn't really have any answers

She wasn't expecting the cold but familiar voice to speak up in her stead–

Or for her sister to suddenly appear by the fountain close to her and the scary blond.
PostPosted: Wed Mar 23, 2022 1:22 pm

As it happened Linnaeite hadn't been quite as alone as she thought, even if the shadow quietly trailing her had been Ashley rather than Reinerite-shaped.

It wasn't the first time that she had trailed after her younger sister like this - because as her General, no matter how temporary, Linnaeite was still her responsibility–

And Reinerite took her responsibilities seriously.

She hadn't been planning to show herself however, because Linnaeite needed to learn just like she in turn had had to learn - and her sister wouldn't learn by being coddled.

But the appearance of the Saturn Knight changed things.

Because there was no way that her sister would be able to take the blond on alone.

To be honest, she had her doubts that her sister could would be able to take on someone who was at her own rank - at least not as she was currently.

Although it was something that she was going to have to learn - because whilst she hadn't particularly wanted to bring her sister into the Negaverse - the alternative had been unacceptable.

Besides what was done was done - and all they could do was keep moving forward - which meant that Linnaeite would just have to adapt.

Not that she'd made a move immediately, had instead stayed undercover as she watched to see what her sister would do, even as she vaguely remembered her sister mentioning something about some blond who had been looking for someone called Lysithea–

And she'd continued to watch right up until her sister's abortive attempt to flee - well at least she was assuming that, that had been what her sister had been attempting to do.

The Knight had just finished demanding that her sister tell him everything that she'd done, which seemed like as good a cue as any.

Ashley powered up and then stepped out from cover, glaive in hand before teleporting so that she was standing by the switched off fountain and within easy range should it come too it.

"Actually she told me" and it was Reinerite's voice that answered the Saturn Knight's question, her voice as cold as her grey eyes as 'snow' drifted in the snow globe that made up part of her weapon.

Oh. Oh, this was interesting. He could work with this. Of course, naturally, instinctively, Michel had been angry. He didn’t like the idea of being outnumbered and he didn’t like the idea of Negaverse agents just hiding and appearing out of nowhere.

A page out of his own book, but he didn’t like it when it was used against him.

His lip curled into a sneer and he kept his firm grip on Linnaeite’s wrist, just in case he needed any leverage.

“You? And who are you?” he demanded.

This was not good.

This was sooo not good.

Because running into the scary with a capital 'S' blond again was bad enough–

But to end up both running into the scary with a capital 'S' blond and getting caught failing miserably by her sister in the same evening?

It felt like someone or something was having some sort of cosmic joke at her expense.

For a moment Linnaeite considered once again trying to tug her wrist out of the grip that the blond had on her wrist–

Ultimately however she decided against it.

She'd already tried it more than once and had a sore wrist for her trouble.

The last thing she needed was to try and fail in front of Reinerite. Instead she waited whilst doing her best to studiously avoid meeting her sister’s eyes.

Maybe if she was lucky, Mr Scary with a capital S would get distracted now that Reinerite was here - and if so then maybe there was a chance that she could take advantage for long enough to at least get away.

Reinerite weighed up the Saturn Knight, lips tilting up in a sharp smile as she noted the oversized clock hand that she was assuming was his weapon.

Knights meant magic of some sort and she had no idea what form this one's magic would take, but she doubted that it would be much worse than the tear gas that she had had to endure in her SABC training session back when she was was a Lieutenant and Reinerite was confident that her glaive would hold up well against the weapon itself.

"Me?" The smile didn't meet her eyes, as a part of her calculated whether the size of the clock hand meant that the Knight was more of a distance fighter like herself "Why I'm the General that she told" Reinerite infused her voice with a mock-sweetness.

She took a couple of steps closer, her voice turning cold "I'm assuming by the way that you've been going on that you wanted to talk to me directly."

“Oh, well you must be clever,” he said; his eyes narrowed as he watched her, and he gripped the clockhand in a way that made it obvious he knew how to use it–and wasn’t afraid to.

Maybe, even, wanted to.

Reinerite didn’t intimidate him in the slightest. He wore the same angry, tired expression he’d had this whole time. Except, now he was at least dealing with someone who might be able to do something.

“I don’t really give a s**t about you, personally. If she told you what I wanted, you’d know that I’m looking for a Senshi. Lysithea. Can you get her for me or are you just as useless as she is?”
