Whilst the park had become something of a natural meet up place for the two of them, Iðavöllr had found herself meeting up with Liryn in a quiet alleyway that ran along the back of the a set of warehouses.
It wasn't really a part of town that she particularly frequented - well at least not as Saffron - although that was perhaps kind of the point–
And with everything closed down for the evening, it had meant that she hadn't had too much trouble finding somewhere more 'private' in order to power up.
Iðavöllr found herself glancing at the ring that her companion for the evening had produced from - well she wasn't too sure really - as she slipped it back on her finger, although the signet ring didn't look any different.
Well at least she hadn't been able to see any difference.
"Thank you, Liryn" she said at last "What did you need it for anyway?" Iðavöllr hesitated for a moment before adding "And why are we meeting here instead of at the park."
Because the talking cat hadn't been too clear on that particular point - although he'd mentioned something about her needing to work on sensing auras.

Liryn gave Iðavöllr a cheerful look, waiting for a moment to check that the Polaris page was following after him before starting to pad down the alleyway and away from the silent warehouses.
"That blueprint that you let me have was for an upgrade to the ring" he said cheerfully as he walked in a gait that was more bounce than walk "And a pretty neat one too - it makes it so that you can send messages verbally or through a hologram rather than having to rely on that paper-pen-ink method thingy of yours."
He continued to bounce-walk as he added "And I also worked out how to sort it so that your ring can contact the senshi phones directly too."
It had meant borrowing Athene's senshi phone and Liryn manually inputting Iðavöllr's details at HQ, but he had gone ahead and made a day of it - and it had been worth it too, because he'd found a blueprint on the Mauvian Database, which had led to him also working on a small jade green henshin pen for himself that Liryn was looking forward to trying out at some point–
Although it was going to have to wait until another night.
His cheerful voice turned serious "And we're here so that we can work on aura sensing" specifically Iðavöllr's aura sensing. He gave her a feline grin "And I thought we could start with me."
After all Liryn knew that she was close enough to pick up on his aura, even with him currently being in cat form.
It occurred to him that at some point that maybe he should tell her about the other form–
Although that too was likely going to end up waiting until another night.

Not far away, Fafnir stood still over the downed body of the man he'd been draining, his head lifted almost as if he were scenting the air like a hound. A few moments ago, he'd felt the flare of power as someone had transformed and it had set off alarms in his head. An order signature was dangerous, always, but... this one was smaller. Felt like... a knight? He had to think for a moment to remember the word. A Page, someone just come into their power and not yet upgraded.
That made him... a little curious. As a super, he outranked a basic Page. What were they doing out here? Hunting his kind, probably... but alone? That was far more dangerous for them than for him.
With the energy orb tucked into his uniform, he left the downed man where he lay and followed his 'nose' towards where the signature seemed to be coming from. It took a little bit to narrow down where it was, the sense was so... vague. He would have tried for more stealth, but since his own power signature gave him away, there wasn't a lot of point to sacrificing speed for stealth. Fafnir stumbled across the girl almost by accident, ducking behind the corner of a building the moment he spotted the unusual clothing. A slow movement to the side gave him something of a view of her, and to his surprise, there was a cat with her.
How interesting. Mauvians were highly prized in the negaverse, and as she was talking to it, he had to assume that's what it was. That changed some things in his mental calculations. Lone page with a Mauvian, no stronger order signatures nearby. Could he, perhaps, rush in and scoop it up? It would be easy to teleport back to Negaspace then. Delivering a Mauvian to the General Sovereigns could be worth a lot... enough, maybe, to secure his promotion? It was hard to say, but the thought was so, so tempting...

If truth be told all this talk about sensing auras had sounded pretty weird really, like some sort of fortune teller mumbo jumbo - but if she was being honest then it was probably no less weird than talking cats with coloured stars on their foreheads - and they definitely existed given that Liryn was walking, talking and purring proof–
And it was equally no less weird than some of the other things she had come across whilst just living in Destiny City.
Which was how Iðavöllr had found herself frowning in careful concentration as she tried to pick up on Liryn's aura.
Brown eyes glanced down at the ring that Liryn had returned to her and was now back on her finger and specifically at the pearl that had been fastened to it, because come to think on it that was new, eyes glancing over to Liryn as her lips parted to ask–
Only for Iðavöllr to give a startled "Oh" as she picked up on the smallest spark of warmth.
Was that what Liryn had meant by 'aura'.
Because whilst it was small and barely there, now that she was picking up on it Iðavöllr found that she couldn't ignore it–
But she also found that she was picking up on something else as well, was picking up on something colder - something that made her shiver.
"Liryn?"
And whatever it was felt so much stronger on the small spark of warmth that may or may not have been Liryn's aura.

Truthfully Liryn had been so caught up in the blueprint and how neat it had turned out to be that he had completely forgotten to mention the moon pearl that he had attached to Iðavöllr's ring.
Oops.
Then again given that he had worked on the ring at HQ and there was a large jar of said pearls at HQ, it would have been remiss of him if he hadn't given Iðavöllr a moon pearl–
Well at least in Liryn's book.
He watched as Iðavöllr's face scrunched slightly in concentration in a way that made him think a little of her cousin, Athene, had been considering perhaps giving her a bit of purr encouragement to encourage her on–
And then he had picked up on an aura that made his fur bristle.
A chaotic aura - a corrupt super senshi's aura to be precisie.
Not something that had been in Liryn's plans at all.
Iðavöllr called out his name, a question in her voice, but Liryn didn't answer, hus purplish eyes instead glancing around and at his surroundings.
"You may as well come out" he said instead "I know you're there."
Just as the corrupt likely knew that they were there too, because auras worked both ways.
Liryn edged closer to Iðavöllr as he spoke, paws cat quiet on the ground, because he was determined to help and to protect her.

If he'd been a General, he might have made things simple by teleporting in, snatching the cat, and teleporting back to Negaspace, but as a Captain... he wasn't entirely sure if he had the stamina for so much all at once. It was frustrating. This could have been so easy, but he'd have to do it the hard way. It was going to hurt, probably, and he wasn't going to like it overly much.
But the reward, if he showed up with a cat. Dared he to hope it might even seal his promotion? He'd have done, and had done, so many things to obtain that coveted promotion.
They seemed to have caught onto him, as he heard a voice call out. Composing his face into something serene, Fafnir stepped from the cover of the building and paced towards the pair, his arms loose beside him and his eyes heavy lidded.
"I didn't expect to find company tonight. I suppose that's my good fortune. What brings you two fine... people out here?" He said, his voice light and friendly.

Iðavöllr gave Liryn an uncertain look, as the small grey tabby bobtailed cat edged closer to her.
"Liryn?" She repeated with a puzzled note in her voice as her lips turned down in a frown as she took in the way that the talking cat had fluffed up, until he resembled more puffball than cat or the way that purplish eyes had narrowed unhappily–
And whilst perhaps in other circumstances she may have been a little amused, because it didn't really look that threatening as far as threats went, Iðavöllr couldn't help but feel a little worried because she had never seen the small talking cat like this before and whatever the cold feeling was had made her shiver wasn't particularly helping either.
She stepped up so that she was next to Liryn as he called out for, well honestly Iðavöllr wasn't too sure, but for whatever or perhaps whoever it was to come out, frown still on her face - only for the frown to give way to true puzzlement as a figure stepped out and into her direct range of sight–
Because whilst Iðavöllr wasn't sure quite what she was expecting, the young man with long hair that reached the ground in shades of ombred blue who looked to be around her cousin's age was not it.
Brown eyes took in the horned headband and scales that made her think of a dragon's scales–
Although perhaps that was more the...
Her thoughts came to a juddering halt as her mind finally registered the holes, Iðavöllr doing her best not to stare - although it was hard not to.
"Err good evening" she finally managed as she wondered if the holes were just some kind of funny make up.Quote: Liryn tag portion to come as soon as it can

Liryn had done his best to subtly shift himself so that he was in front of Iðavöllr, although his positioning had been somewhat ruined when she had stepped up so that she was standing next to him.
He tilted his head slightly, in acknowledgement that he had heard her and pressed up against her boot for a moment in an attempt at reassurance before his purplish returned to glancing from side to side as he tried his best to better pinpoint the other aura.
Although it seemed that the corrupt had been a little closer than he had thought, as a figure stepped out from the cover of a nearby building and into proper view.
"That senshi is a corrupted senshi" he said to Iðavöllr quietly as she called out a greeting, his normally cheerful voice unusually serious "One who serves the Negaverse."
His purplish eyes narrowed further as he continued to watch the approaching senshi and if he'd had more of a tail then it would have most likely been lashing.
"We weren't expecting company either," he commented flatly, as Liryn finally addressed the corrupted senshi before adding quietly for Iðavöllr's benefits "If worse comes to worse and it comes down to it then use your Aspect if you have to."
Although Liryn had every intention of protecting Iðavöllr himself.

He watched with interest as the cat tried to put itself between him and girl it was with. How curious... was he trying to protect her? Brave maybe, but what did it think it could do against him? Obviously, it didn't realize she wasn't the target of his interest. Maybe that could be used to his advantage?
Fafnir could really care less about the page at the moment... he might be rewarded to bringing her in, but that was chump change next to the worth of a cat. Could he separate them? With the cat acting like she was it's kitten, he wasn't sure that would happen.
The voice that came out of it though, had a decidedly masculine cast. Male then?
"I was curious about a page out here alone. I was even more surprised to find a Page with a Mauvian. Are you lost? Maybe I can point you in the right direction. I do know the city pretty well. I'm Fafnir." He said, sketching a little bow for them.

As it happened Liryn was very much trying to protect Iðavöllr from the corrupted senshi who was ruining his plans for the evening.
His plans for the evening had been so simple - well at least they had been supposed to be simple.
He would help Iðavöllr work on her aura sensing and maybe help her dust a youma or two if there were any wandering around - and then she (or rather Saffron) could reward him with some quality scritching time later and maybe some of the prawns that he just knew were in her freezer - because he'd spotted the box when she'd opened the freezer to take out something else instead–
And he was very partial to both.
Crossing paths with a corrupted senshi wasn't something that had had a place in those plans.
Not because Liryn didn't think that they couldn't handle one, even with the other being a Super senshi to Iðavöllr's Page - because whilst it was true that Iðavöllr still had a lot to learn, Liryn also had faith in Athene's cousin–
And it wasn't as Iðavöllr was alone - because she had him too - and it wasn't be the first time that he had faced down a Negaverse agent and it likely wouldn't be the last time either.
"Iðavöllr is not alone" he told the corrupt who had introduced himself as Fafnir flatly, his purplish eyes unblinking "And neither are we lost." Because Liryn was pretty sure that he likely knew the city equally well given that he spent a lot of time out and about in it.
He added, in a voice that was still flat "You're interrupting."

Iðavöllr looked at Liryn puzzled "I er... What?!" And maybe that last 'what' had come out a little louder than planned, but honestly she wasn't really sure what had gotten into the small talking cat or why he was being so rude to the young man who had introduced himself as Fafnir.
Because Liryn was being rude - downright rude–
And whilst granted, the cold feeling that didn't seem to be going away and Liryn's odd behaviour had left her feeling somewhat on edge, Fafnir hadn't actually done anything to warrant her suspicion that she could see–
Even if the holes that she was doing her best not to stare at were really, really strange.
"Liryn!" She hissed at the small talking cat, with a slight frown because he was being rude again and she was a little worried that he would do something like launch himself at the other given the way that his fur was still bristling.
Iðavöllr turned her brown eyes to Fafnir.
"I'm Iðavöllr, Page of Polaris and this is Liryn" she said, as a part of her wondered for a moment if she should apologise for the small talking cat, before deciding ultimately that it was best if she and Liryn maybe found somewhere else to practice auras.
"And your offer is very kind, but we'll be fine."
She gave Liryn a gentle nudge and started to turn, hoping that the small talking cat would take the hint and just follow her lead.Whimsical Blue Poor Iðavöllr has not been warned about Liryn

"Ah, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt. I was just curious. I rarely get to meet Mauvians on the order side, and its unusual to run into a page without a Squire or Knight. I'm really sorry to be a bother..." He said smoothly as he gave the pair a little half bow, his long hair draping over his shoulders. "But... I know some people who would really, really like to meet you. They would be absolutely over the moon if I got to introduce you to them. They love Mauvians, and Pages too."
He was already moving as the girl started to turn away, striding forward with long, agile steps. He feinted going for the girl's arm, reaching out to catch at her elbow, but all of his attention was on the small, furry distrust on the ground between them. All he had to do was get a hand on him, and the rest would be easy.

Liryn huffed slightly at the corrupted senshi's words, purplish eyes still distrustful. He wasn't particularly interested in meeting anyone that the corrupted senshi wanted to introduce him to himself–
And neither was he about to let Iðavöllr go off with Fafnir.
Not that it seemed like she was entertaining any ideas of doing so, given the way that she had turned and whilst Liryn hadn't been particularly happy to turn his back on the corrupted senshi, he had eventually given Fafnir one last distrustful look before reluctantly starting to turn to follow Iðavöllr.
It had been a mistake, one that had become quickly evident–
And whilst Liryn had started to turn back at the flicker of movement, the corrupted senshi had been too fast and the distance between them too short.
Liryn heard Iðavöllr's startled gasp as he finished his turn, claws extended and ready to swipe.

Iðavöllr had truly thought that Fafnir would leave it at that, had been relieved when it seemed that Liryn was following however reluctantly.
She hadn't been expecting him to follow, or the hand that had reached out to catch at her left elbow.
Couldn't get the wrong, wrong, wrong out of her mind, despite the other's previous polite demeanour and courteous words.
"Please let go" she said, even as she reached out with her right hand in an attempt to dislodge the other's grip.Whimsical Blue sorry this tag took me a million years

Fafnir's fingers brushed her arm and let her go as she pulled away, not putting up much resistance. She wasn't really his target. As she moved out of his reach, he bent and switched his attention to the cat on the ground who was clearly not having any of this. Claws out and everything, which was something of a bother, but he was close enough Fafnir figured he might pull this off.
His hand closed over the cat's scruff and tightened, lifting him up and off his paws.
"Ah, well, if you won't come with me, I suppose I'll have to bring your little friend instead. You'll have to forgive me, but Mauvians really are too rare to pass up." He said as he attempted to wrangle the angry feline. He just needed a good grip and a quick teleport would secure both him and his prize. Quick, easy and clean was how he liked things, and this looked like it just might turn out that way. It was, of course, hubris to consider his reward so soon, but if he managed to bring a Mauvian in, surely that would be enough to secure his promotion. They had to be grateful for it... and that accomplishment would go into his record, a nice little gold star for him.
