Note a single person in her personal life would believe her if she told them that a glowing orb had granted her magical powers. Not only that, but she thoroughly doubted that they would buy into the added detail of its ability to converse. Even she had found it difficult to believe at first and had firmly bought in to the idea that she was dreaming. She'd been overworked, she'd been in the hospital for the majority of her shift by then and she had clearly nodded off...
Except when she had 'come to' again, she was still in the hospital caferia and beside her she had found something that definitely hadn't been there before. A quaint and delicate lantern with a flame that seemed to burn eternally. She'd never owned one of these before, it wasn't even in her typically preferred aesthetic, yet it had been set beside her and she had been naturally drawn to it. Not entirely aware of its signifiance at the time she had carefully set it in to her locker with the rest of her possessions and returned to work.
Now though?
Well, now the young woman had an evening off and with some time to explore her new found gift (and a means to cure that unfortunate soul in the hospital), she had found a rather quiet park to slip in to so that she might examine her gift more closely. At first she hadn't been entirely sure of how she was supposed to make it 'do the thing', but as she focused on it, she felt a warmth enshroud her and before her very eyes her clothing had changed into something that was (again) very much in contrast to her preferred aesthetic.
Oh sweet baby jesus, she needed a coat.
Her eyes had widened a little in surprise at the cold and with a sudden dertmination to be warm again her uniform had dissipated to return her to her ordinary clothes. All right, so what if she took the coat off and then tried this again, would she lose it or would it stick around? It was worth a try and thus she took her windbreaker off and set it on the bench before 'summoning' the magic that transformed her into the more whimsical page.
To her great joy the coat had stayed and it was with a small sigh of relief that she reached out to quickly throw it on. Alas, it didn't completely remove the 'bite' of winter due to the thin fabric around her legs, but it was better than nothing and perhaps now she'd begin to understand how all of this worked.
...Maybe there'd be a sign?
She waited. If crickets had been in season she'd probably have heard them.
With no answer forthcoming she stared at her lantern with a raised eyebrow and gave it a gentle shake.
"What do you doooo?" she cooed softly at it, perhaps under the impression it might speak to her the same way the White Orb had when she had been summoned to that strange hallway.

Whilst Saffron couldn't help but feel like she was some sort of extra from out of Frozen when she powered up, her outfit as Iðavöllr was at least seasonal–
Although it could have done with a pair of gloves.
Gloves was something that was easily rectified however and Iðavöllr carefully slipped the pair that she had taken to carrying along with her over her fingers.
She paused at the flicker of aura, because it was something that she wasn't very good at - something that she was still getting used to - and Liryn wasn't out with her tonight–
But she thought that it felt warm - just as Liryn had mentioned, even though Iðavöllr had no idea how close it was.
In the end, however, it had been more accident then design that she had ended up finding the source of what she thought might be the source of the aura, as Iðavöllr spotted the figure as she walked across the small park that she was treating as a shortcut.
She stepped closer, noting the coat over what appeared to be a very elegant looking dress as she approached and she made sure to keep her voice friendly as she got within speaking distance "Hello."

Serenitatis was going to have to learn how to be suitably more subtle and a little less noticable. However, given her luck so far, the only individuals who had found her had been benevolent and this evening would be no different. It was the soft greeting that had attracted her attention, more quickly than she had noticed the warmth of the 'energy' nearby her that should have alerted her to the fact she had company. It appeared that in that respect the pair of them had something in common, and perhaps in time both would get a little bit better at noticing and making use of it.
She lifted the relic she had been gently shaking, raising the lantern out in front of her to cast its soft light over her new visitor. Given that she looked like some sort of extra from a winter tv show or film, one had to assume that perhaps she was just as out of place here as Serenitatis was. The one thing Iðavöllr did have to her advantage though? In those brief moments Serenitatis was ever so slightly envious of the fact she had seasonally appropriate clothing.
It looked warm.
She was not warm...
"Good evening," she offered after a moment, a smile climbing on to her lips as she drew closer to the young woman. It was better for her this way. While she could hear her at this distance, if they kept their voices low, it would be more beneficial for her to be a little closer. It was normal for her and on occasions Serenitatis did need additional guidance to understand someone, but she was mindful of personal space and didn't get too close.
"You feel like you might be a friend," Serenitatis said after a moment. "At least you don't give me the chills like this wind does, so I assume that means you're not going to hurt me," she admitted.
"My name is Serenitatis," she offered, finally remembering her manners. "Page of the Moon," she added and gave a small cough. "I think I'm supposed to give the whole title rather than half of it? People have seemed to find the last bit pertinent so...yeah."

It was funny - if someone had told her a year or so ago that she felt like a friend then she probably would have given them a strange look and most likely tried to avoid them–
But then again a year or so again she had still been trying her to best to pretend that powered stuff wasn't real and that she didn't have the ability to turn into a Frozen style extra.
Instead Iðavöllr found her lips quirking up in answering smile of her own "Good evening" she said in return, after the other woman had introduced herself as Serenitatis "I'm Iðavöllr, well I guess that would be Iðavöllr Page of Polaris - and I can very much confirm that I'm not planning to hurt anyone."
And whilst by the other's words it seemed like Serenitatis might be part of all of this too, especially as she had called herself a "Page" which was something that wasn't exactly everyday language, a part of Iðavöllr couldn't help but feel a little sorry for the other woman as she better took in the other woman's dress–
Because whilst it was lovely and elegant-looking, it was also something that seemed more appropriate for summer, rather than the Destiny City winter.

'Ally' might have been a more suitable description of how her aura felt, but Serenitatis wasn't particularly eloquent in this early stage of her career. Perhaps in time she would mature and grow to the point that she could consider her words more carefully and select the most appropriate path, eh? For now though, she would stick with 'friend' in a rather juvenile manner that still managed to get her point across. In fairness, she probably would have viewed someone like her saying 'friend' as an oddity as well...but fate worked in odd ways.
"Well that's a relief," she breathed softly and shook her head. "There seem to be an awful lot of people and monsters that are very happy to be less than peaceful," she admitted. Her expression was a touch forlorn at this. She hadn't been exposed to too many bad things yet, she'd mostly just heard third hand accounts, but that didn't mean she hadn't seen at least some of it.
Even tried her luck and almost paid the price for it.
"I must say though your entire outfit is superb," she said finally and motioned to her. Ida may not have agreed with her (re: frozen extra), but Serenitatis very much appreciated both the seasonal suitability and overall style. It looked comfortable, it looked warm, and to be entirely honest those shoes were very much her thing.
"A lot warmer than mine, that's for sure," she mumbled. "I don't suppose our profession happens to have seasonal attachments that I'm not aware of?" she asked and waved her lamp. "Can I wiggle this and get something more appropriate for the current climate?"

Whilst there was a mismatch in their outfits - at least where seasonality was concerned - they matched in the fact that Iðavöllr hadn't been exposed to that many 'bad' things either.
Not that she had been particlarly trying to go seek out bad things - but it was kind of hard to miss that Destiny City was a strange, strange city–
At least not if you had eyes and/ or ears.
There was also the fact that property was pretty cheap - it was how she or rather Saffron had managed to pick up such a nice apartment.
Iðavöllr shook her head slightly, dismissing the stray thought as her lips curved up in another smile at the other Page's compliment about her outfit.
"Thank you" because she wasn't one to turn down a compliment and - personal opinions about the outfit style notwithstanding) - she thought that she looked good in it too.
"And I'm not sure whether there are seasonal attachments that come with this - but I'd really appreciate it if they do." A rueful note slipped into her voice as she admitted "Because what I'm wearing isn't exactly summer-wear."
Her eyes were finally drawn to the other's lamp as Serenitatis waved it for emphasis "I'm not sure if that's how it works" she admitted, because if it was anything like her... Weapon? Artefact? Iðavöllr finally mentally settled on artefact... If it was anything like her artefact then she didn't think that it would do much.
"But at least you get a real one" she summoned her little Christmas tree ornament lantern and waved it in turn.
Iðavöllr let the ornament dangle from her fingers as a thoughtful look slipped onto her face as she mused "Although I guess that my outfit kind of suits my Wonder."
Because on the two occasions that she'd visited Iðavöllr it had been cold - much colder than here.

"Perhaps it's something to investigate," she mused after a moment. She hadn't really thought to ask about such a thing, but perhaps the next time she found herself in the company of The Code she might put forward such a query. She had promised herself not to disturb the Cosmic Entity too much though, it was probably rather busy, and as such she would seek out more high ranking knights first who might be able to supply her with a method to be more weather appropriate...
"If I hear anything anything I'll let you know, perhaps I can get a coat and you might be able to have thinner layers," she added. She did however purse her lips and squint at Idavollr's attire - was it just a dress, or was that coat with more underneath it? Certain styles of outfit could be deceiving and she would have preferred not to make assumptions.
"Do any of yours come off?" she asked after a moment. "Layers I mean... It's always easier to take things off than source extra layers," she finished. It was a statement of the obvious but given she had literally discovered magic was real recently, anything was possible at this particular moment in time.
"I'm going to go out on a limb and assume your Wonder is cold though," she remarked, leaning in to inspect the ornament. It was very pretty even if Idavollr seemed a little unhappy it didn't work quite the same as Serenitatis's might. Ultimately though, it sounded like both relics failed to do much of anything other than to exist. Honestly if she needed a trinket to transform then she probably would have requested something a little easier to store safely.
"What's it like?" she asked finally, breaking her gaze away from the Ornament. "Mine was a little sad," she conceded. "But I was told it can get better," she murmured. "Not that I understand how right now other than hiring a small team of landscapers..."

"A bit" Iðavöllr admitted, when Serenitatis asked if any of her outfit came off. She indicated the ribbon at her waist that was held in place by the six-pointed compass rose and the matching ornament in her hair "This and this can come off and the gloves aren't actually part of my uniform at all."
She thought on it for a moment before adding "And I guess that the leggings probably can as well."
A rueful note of amusement slipped into her voice "But I don't think that it's enough to save me from the Destiny City summer." Because that still left her with very, very warm dress.
"So if you can manage to find anything out then I would really appreciate it."
Iðavöllr continued "And I can try asking around too - maybe we could compare results?"
Maybe it was something that Liryn could help with.
Maybe. Hopefully - because Iðavöllr genuinely wasn't looking forward to going out dressed as she was once the weather started to warm up in earnest.
She nodded when Serenitatis mentioned that she was guessing that her Wonder was cold, absently letting her little Christmas tree lantern ornament sway from her fingers, although Iðavöllr made sure to keep a relatively strong grip on the ornament string "Cold" she admitted "A lot colder than here and I guess that it's also kind of a mess" she continued "But you can also tell that it wasn't always like that - that someone had cared for it once."
She hesitated "Well at least that's what it felt like to me." Iðavöllr added "And I found my knight ring there - in what looked to be a garden of frozen flowers - one that probably could do with the landscapers that you mentioned."

"Oh goodness, then you really don't have much time do you," she popped her lips. Before they knew it spring would be upon them, and then depending on how bored Mother Nature was, they would be at the mercy of some of the oddest weather Serenitatis had seen. Seasons were somewhat debatable lately and she doubted that was necessarily down to magic, but if it was January now then they had very little time to resolve Idavollr's conundrum.
...On the plus side, her outfit would be a touch more pleasant to be in.
"So we have a few months before it starts to heat up, and perhaps another month after that before the weather decides to experiment with us to see how well we fare when it elects to snow in May," she chuckled softly. "Perhaps if we interview those around us they may come up with some answers for us," she agreed and gave a firm nod.
A pause.
"While I appreciate we may be dressed for the relevant locales we 'come' from, one would argue that we aren't on them," she squinted thoughtfully. "So logic would state that at some point, historically, they would have catered to the needs of changing locales," she murmured. Admittedly, The Moon could not be afforded the same considerations given they hadn't existed back then, but given how many knights of varying creeds there were it stood to reason that each of them would have had a degree of flexibility...right?
If not, then she was going to approach The Code and discuss further improvements for her fellow knights (and herself of course); after all, she had no current knowledge of Mauvians and their tinkering machinations but if she had known...
Ah but back to the conversation at hand -
"I am beginning to suspect that the places we're supposed to guard are an allegory for what we are and what we can become," Serenitatis mused. She didn't know nearly enough to be on the mark with that, but given her 'Wonder' was a mess and she had been told to tend to it as she 'grew', she could only assume that it was supposed to evolve with her. It was all very poetic, but if it required landscaping, she was going to need a few more hands than just her own (and they'd need to be strong).
"You got a ring there though?" she asked curiously, lifting a brow at that.
As far as she could remember she hadn't seen anything like that while she had been at her's... Then again she had asked to be sent home reasonably quickly just in case those in work had noted her absence. Hadn't the wisp mentioned she would be able to go back? Evidently if there was something lingering there that she was supposed to have then she would need to find it. Idavollr had mentioned it was a 'knight' ring so logically that would mean she had one too, right?
"Is that are secret handshake thing so we know we're in the same club?" she hazarded. "Because I don't have one of those yet," she admitted.

"Not really" Iðavöllr agreed, because what with it currently being January she only really had until around the end of March slash start of April before spring officially started and around a couple of months or so after that until summer - and whilst there was a chance that this year's spring would end up turning out to be uncharacteristically cold - it also wasn't something that she particularly wanted to bet on–
And even if she somehow managed to get through spring without roasting, Iðavöllr knew that it was unlikely - no scratch that - was pretty much improbable that she'd be so lucky once summer came along.
She found herself frowning thoughtfully at Serenitatis comment about changing locales, because it was a decent point–
Albeit probably not something that she could ask Liryn about.
Although... the thought was a slightly musing one Perhaps I could try asking Ragna...
Serenitatis questions about her ring drew Iðavöllr out of her thoughts, "Truthfully, I'm not really sure" she admitted as she removed the ring on her finger and held it out so that her fellow Page could take a better look at it if she wanted to "Because you're the first knight that I've met." Well at least Iðavöllr was pretty sure that Serenitatis was the first knight that she'd met–
Unless you counted Ragna and she wasn't sure she could count Ragna on account of Ragna being by her own account no longer a knight and well.. Being a ghost.
Maybe she'd go with first 'living' knight.
"It's useful for sending messages" she admitted "And my friend Liryn has been fiddling with it - the little hanging pearl's kind of a new addition and he said that he fixed it so that it can make verbal calls and call senshi phones."
Iðavöllr realised she was rambling somewhat and tried to stop as she continued "I'm not sure if the ring is supposed to be a secret handshake thing or not, but it's definitely magic" adding "I found mine on my Wonder - so maybe there's one for you on yours somewhere."

Serenitatis was thoughtful as she admired the ring. She had definitely not seen anything like it before, particularly on her Wonder, but that didn't mean it wasn't there somewhere. She made a mental note to make the time to visit. If she was to become a full fledged and useful Knight then she was going to have to put the work in, even if that meant that a light degree of treasure hunting had to be done as well! Still, she had to admit that she'd be just as pleased if her ring was as pretty as this.
...The tinkering with a ring to allow it to contact phones however was a little baffling. Actually, now that she thought about it, hadn't one of the senshi waved one at her before and mentioned communication was possible between them both. She hadn't understood all of it at the beginning, but in Encke's defence he couldn't exactly show her a ring either. If it could be tinkered and toyed with to have slightly more functionality then perhaps it was worth considering.
"So until your friend played with it, it couldn't really do much?" she clarified as she returned her gaze to the woman.
"Did they tinker with it and stumble upon it by accident or is there some knack to it," she continued, her lips rising to rest comfortably on her hips. She was still cold, probably always would be until summer, but this was a welcome distraction from the unpleasant bite of the otherwise light breeze. "Of there's some sort of blueprint for it and a list of items to pick up, I'd appreciate getting hold of it so that I can make arrangements," she added.
Granted, she hadn't yet realised that she required a cat (and a talking one at that), but she had to find her ring first before she could even begin to ponder that.

Iðavöllr waited until Serenitatis had finished examining her ring and had handed it back before sliding back onto her finger.
"Well it could still send messages" she admitted, but after Liryn finished fiddling with it he said that sending messages would be more.." She thought on it for a moment before settling on "Efficient."
Iðavöllr frowned thoughtfully "Oh and I could use it to summon my aspect even before Liryn started fiddling with it." She hesitated before admitting, "Although I'm still not really sure quite what to do with it."
Iðavöllr's lips quirked up in a somewhat rueful smile as she confessed "It's like I've got bits and pieces, but am not sure how everything fits together."
And whilst she wasn't sure if Serenitatis saw it that way too, it was still nice to talk to the other Page.
"And there was a blueprint" she admitted, at Serenitatis mention of a blueprint "It kind of just appeared when I first used the ring."
She frowned again slightly as she admitted "But I didn't really get a good look at it because Liryn was with me and was really interested in it so I let him have it."
Truthfully it was probably better that way because Iðavöllr would be the first to admit that DIY wasn't her thing - not unless one counted commute application of make up in her day to day life as Saffron.
"And I didn't think to ask for it back - but I could always ask Liryn if he still has it?"
Of course that was kind of assuming that she and Serenitatis would have more than the one chance meeting–
Although a part of Iðavöllr thought that she would like that - well at least she would if it was something that Serenitatis was also amenable to.

Hm, so it sounded as though much of what they could receive was handed to them provided they were in the right place at the right time. That was convenient if it was true, but she did have to be careful not to take this for granted. After all, those she had met before had spoken of past lives, and one had even mentioned a ghostly ancestor (if she understood them correctly), but she didn't necessarily have those things and perhaps that was on purpose.
"Well I think the best thing I can do is try to go back to my Wonder?" she offered at last and smiled. "You are the second to mention that they got theirs there so mine might be there too," she admitted. She hadn't given The Code all the time it might have needed to ensure she had everything, The Code had summoned her at a rather inconvenient time after all, but that didn't mean there weren't more things there.
It had said it would there too, if she needed it.
"How does it work though?" she asked after a moment. "Do I have to carry paper and a pen?" she added and pursed her lips.
"And do I just write someone's name on the paper and then it just disappears...?" she finished.
It all sounded very basic in principle and for once she seemed to grasp that bit, but she had slight concerns that she might be over simplifying it as well.
"I mean as soon as I find it would I be able to message you as an example, and you would receive it?"

Iðavöllr waited until Serenitatis had finished talking before nodding "I think it's worth trying," she agreed - especially since it seemed like another knight had also found a ring at their Wonder - at least, it seemed like they had going by Serenitatis' comments–
And whilst Iðavöllr couldn't say for sure that Serenitatis would find a ring at her Wonder, the fact that another knight may have done so made it feel a little less like guesswork on her part.
She listened quietly as Serenitatis asked how the message sending worked and nodded at her question about whether she needed to carry some paper and pen around.
"Pretty much," she agreed "Oh and I needed some ink too." She thought on it for a moment "I wrote a message on the paper and then folded it up and addressed it to the person I was sending it to" in her case it had been cousin at that particular point in time followed by Liryn. "And then I had to spill a bit of ink on the paper and stamp the ring in the ink - kind of like one of those old time wax seal things" she paused for a moment before adding "But Liryn said that I don't need to do all of that anymore."
She considered Serenitatis' final question "You know I'm not really sure - I've never tried to send a message to someone in Destiny City from my Wonder or vice versa - but I think it's definitely worth a try and I could always send a message back if it works."

"Ink, paper," she checked off these things in her mind, repeating them in a fashion for the sole purpose of memorisation. She hadn't necessarily come out with those supplies, but she'd have to find a means to do so. Admittedly it would probably start with a satchel and if she ever managed to get that little space pocket working, then she could branch out a little.
"If I can find it, I'll try it," she smiled gently. "It would be nice to have at least one person to reach out to as a test!" she added appreciatively.
Were they all this nice?
So far Idavollr and Rich had been her only encounters with the knights and they had been particularly helpful. Add the fact that the senshi had been helpful in their own way too, and she was beginning to think that perhaps she might be ok in the end. The Code had told her to reach out and try to find others and even if they encounters had been flukes so far... no one had turned her away.
"You've been very helpful to me," she said after a moment and shook her head. "Is there anything I can do for you...?"
