[ Taliessin 1 ]

Her mother insisted she go outside and get away from her practicing. Taliessin argued back that years ago, Itotia would beg her to practice until her fingers bled. Unfortunately, her mother was the type to not budge, and so she was all but tossed out of the Violet and into the streets of their small village town.

What did she expect Taliessin to do? She had lived here her whole life, and unless a newcomer found their way onto the streets, nothing much was new or exciting or interesting. Sure she could go and dip her toes into the coves nearby, but with it being the cooler season, even that didn't sound exciting.

And so, she settled with sitting on a bench near the wall of her home, watching as the locals slowly passed by.

Siel adored a good adventure.

His fathers would have liked it better if he didn't seek it out as much, but honestly, where was the fun in that? Ever since he'd been a child Siel had experienced all that life could throw his way and embraced it fully. They worried, mostly because of their own past experiences rather than his own, and then because of his own...It was hard to argue who the problem child in the family was. Without his music to keep him focused he may have landed on the block a time or two, but Siel never let it get to him. He traveled, he played, he danced, he met some cute girls...Life was good.

And speaking of cute girls; what a beauty! At first he'd thought she was a shifter come south to see the ocean, but then he'd caught sight of her hair. Never one to miss an opportunity, Siel made his way closer with a smile and a wave. "Hey there! Remember me? Oh, that's right, we've only met in my dreams."

Tali had her hood down and was leaning back slightly, enjoying the heat but also ready to move into the shade once it got too hot. Maybe her mother was right...it was almost inspiring to watch the slow movements of the locals and enjoy the calm of their small little town. That was until a voice interrupted her thoughts, and she leaned forward to glance up at the stranger before her.

In a matter of seconds she went through all sorts of emotions. Confusion to start, at why this tall hybrid was calling out to her, before a drop of her stomach as he seemed to imply that she should have remembered him. Had they met? Surely she would have remembered the shifter-like man with striking bi-colored eyes and a sort of flare about him. Then indignation mixed with embarrassment at the fact that she didn't know him, he simply was teasing her, before settling on a mix of curiosity and humor.

As a result, she let out a strange bark of a laugh, before covering her mouth with dainty fingers and fully looking up at him with curious, yaeli-colored eyes.

She responded with a low hum, looking him up and down before leaning back again, "Knowing me, they must have been pretty nice dreams." She replied with a grin, "Unfortunately, can't say I've had the same pleasure. Shame."

You never have to appologize for late tags around me. XD My Siel inspo dropped off for a while so I'm late too lol

The best sort of reaction Siel could hope for out of his pickup line was a laugh, a possible barb and a smile. He knew it was terrible; if anything it just made the grin that split his cheeks all the brighter. Worst case scenario he'd be no worse off than when he started and he would have the added bonus of not using that particular line ever again.

Spirits those eyes though! They were haunting in their beauty and he couldn't help staring when he caught sight of them. Still, the way he popped off with a quip of her own caused Siel to place a hand over his heart, clutching at his tunic ever so dramatically with a wounded grunt, "I'm wounded! Positively crushed!"

Taking a deep breath, he took a moment to 'recover' before adjusting the collar of his tunic, "I really hope you're a healer because you've stolen my heart."

He was absolutely ridiculous in such a charming way. It was clear he found humor in his own words and didn't take them seriously, which made it much more barrable for the minstrel who was used to watching such displays of affection at the dancer's hall. But where others thought they were being suave, this one actually was considering how much fun she had with such silly comments.

At his next comment and behavior, she found herself placing a hand on her hip and tilting her head, a brow raised playfully.

"Unfortunately for you, I'm no healer...but I have been called selfish. Your heart is mine, but I'm willing to consider a trade if you have something else to offer?" Her grin turned a bit into a smirk, her eyes still showing laughter at the situation presented to her.

I am laaaaaattttteeee. Forgive me!

"A trade?" Siel quirked his maw into an excitable smirk. "I've always been told that trading anything with spirits could end poorly, but they never said anything about goddesses." Oh, she was fun. The fact that she hadn't told him to buzz off yet just spurned him to keep going.

"Maybe you'd like my shirt? It's made out of boyfriend material." Siel wagged his brows in a very obviously over the top and playful sort of way. "Or a song, if it pleases you. I'm an enthusiastic musician." While he liked to claim he was good, in his youth his papa said he was 'enthusiastic' which was just a fancy way of saying he sucked with style. Of course he'd gotten better over the years, but it was funner to say it like that.

One brow popped up at the comment of a goddess, and her grin was at risk of growing so large it would split her cheeks open. Before her eyes glanced down at his shirt, evaluating it slowly.

She moved closer toward him, tilting her head as if studying it with great consideration.

"Hmm, it is well tailored...meaning you take great care in things that you own. A little showy, but there's nothing wrong with an outgoing type. And to be fair, I've seen more expressive...shirts in my line of work." Her eyes snapped up to look at him as she realized his other statement, before stepping back and her expression changing to one of delight.

"Oh my, a fellow musician? While I wouldn't call myself enthusiastic, I do know my way around a few instruments. What do you play, dreamy?"

She couldn't help but keep the teasing light, though she was becoming more invested after hearing he was a musician too.

"I like to think that if my music and charm aren't enough to keep an audience that a bold fashion sense might help." That much he'd gained from his papa, but Siel had less of a penchant for sheer materials than Callum. Baba preached on the side of modesty and, well, Siel wasn't a fan of that either.

"You're joking." He was positively beaming now. What were the odds? "Ethereal and talented? You can't be from this world." The hybrid shook his head with a bemused laugh and slapped his knee. "I've dabbled in a few instruments over the years, but I'd say my passion lies with the steel drum. It can be upbeat and lively, if it chooses to, or mellow and soothing like the sea."

Oh he'd had run with string instruments and found them fun, while those requiring wind usually left his family wincing. Drums though...they were nearly as exciting as conversations with pretty girls.

"What about you? What do you play?"

She did a little flip of her hair, as short as it was, at his comment of being out of this world, giggling a little at the action and high laughter. Her expression turned to one of thoughtfulness. Yes, a drub did suit his personality quite a bit, and that was an instrument she was familiar with.

"I've heard of it quite a bit. We had a minstrel travel through a few years ago with a dancer...their style was quite fascinating, and always brought in the crowd. I'm sure it was mostly due to the fact you could feel the beat down through your soul."

She had been young, much younger and not quite deciding what she wanted to do with life. Being a child of movement, the drum was fun and she was charmed by the performer whenever he taught her a few beats. It was a freeing exercise, one she missed compared to her instrument of choice.

"I play the Sambuca." She said with a small smile, "And a few others, but that's the one I'm most familiar with."

"You can feel quite a bit with something that pretty sitting in your lap." Siel really should have stopped but he couldn't help himself. There was a boundary he was ever so blatantly walking on, though his intent was still as harmless as it had ever been. The young cad couldn't help smirking at his own joke and letting loose a bit of breathless laughter.

"If you've ever a mind to play for an audience I'd like to hear it. I've only ever seen a Sambuca player once in my life and between the two of us I feel as if that poor instrument was being murdered." From what he could remember it had been an older man, one with a pompous attitude almost as large as his gut, and a disdain for Siel's family. "The man played about as well as piss smells so I'd be grateful for a new memory to replace it."

Now the flirting was getting a bit more intimate, and Taliessin felt her cheeks darken with warmth. This boy was suave, but even so she found herself smiling a bit demurely. It wasn't like she was one to act on such flirtations, but she didn't mind playing a little bit of the game. She did debate smacking him though, and was sure her father wouldn't have argued for such actions considering he raised her to be strong and independent. Being the eldest did that to one.

Then her brows rose and she laughed out loud at the thought, "My instructor did say that it was a delicate yet difficult beast to overcome."

She was glad she didn't witness such things, and shook her head at the thought, "Overconfidence isn't the way to a Sambuca."

Pausing once more, she smiled lightly, "Maybe we could play for each other? I'd love to hear if your music is different from where you're from...where are you from?"

"Ah, see? You're imagining it now." Siel shifted from gesturing toward her with a finger and then tapping his temple. "That sound haunts my nightmares. You'd think that at some point someone would have urged him to try anything else." After all, his family had never been shy about letting him know which instruments worked and which didn't. He couldn't be sure as to who broke his lute the first time; Morain or Lutana, but he had his suspicions.

"Well...I'm actually from Matori?" Siel raised a hand to awkwardly scratch the back of his head. "Mostly, that is. My family travels a lot, but my childhood was spent here. Matori, Belrea, Jauhar, Zena...most recently I was in Yael, but that didn't last long. What about you? Are you local?"

She giggled at his comments, nodding a little secretly as if the gent he was referencing was near by. She never really gossiped, but she found it fun and playful. Surely this wasn't so bad. At his comment of being from Matori, she sat straight up and looked at him closely.

"Well that explains it. I figured I might have seen you around. I don't travel much, mostly help out at home. You're like me...hard to miss." She said cheekly.

"My mother is Yaeli, but she was kidnapped and taken to Oba. Her and my aunt took over the dance hall, and eventually she fell in love with my father, a Shifter. They settled out here and had a little family in the country side. A quaint little love story if I ever heard one."

"Harder to hide, harder to forget," Siel smirked. While it used to bug him as a kid to have his family treated like tourists there were enough around now that accepted him into the fold. It may have been easier for him to find work in Jauhar like his sister, but there was just something about Matori that always called him home.

"Kidnapped?" Siel's eyes widened as he let out a low whistle. "That's heavy. Sounds like she's doing alright now, though, or at least I hope so." That kind of a story didn't sound very 'quaint' to him, but then again, his own parents love life had been far from typical.

A look of surprise crossed her face at his reaction, her hand coming up to cover her mouth as if she let out a secret. Honestly, she didn't really think much of it, especially since such stories were so common in Matori. A meek smile was revealed as she lowered her hand.

"Trust me, my mom is the most fine anyone could be. Plus our home is a bit of a halfway house for wayward souls now." She added with a dismissive shrug.

"What about you...you look like you were born from an amazing love story."
