Viatrix was feeling quite accomplished.

She knew she was magic. Not just because she was a talking cat from Mau with technological prowess even the Velencians wished they had, of course, but also because she had the best begging face that this planet had ever seen.

Viatrix had told Ophelia to wait in the living room, of course, while she had slipped into Luke's office and closed the door and put on the biggest eyes he had ever seen, following that up with a "Dad?" that she could tell gave Luke both the warm fuzzies and the immediate signal that there was about to be trouble. She didn't give him much time to ponder what that trouble was, starting with the obvious statement, "Dad, there's another alien that needs our help, and I can't just let her live on the streets and try and scrounge for food, and she just needs a place to rest, and we have the space--"

Amasis
Luke's response had been simple and came after only a couple of heartbeats pause.

"Vi, stop, you don't need to keep going." He ran a hand over his hair and laughed warmly under his breath. "I get it. I don't know how you and Ignacio keep finding aliens, but I'll figure out how to explain this to Safira--"

Viatrix was out of the room before he finished talking.

"Told you it'd be fine!" She skidded to a stop in front of Ophelia, somehow gently bumping her in the leg despite nearly running into her. "I should probably show you around the place, show you the amenities. And then we can determine which bedroom you like the most, only three are being used right now..." Viatrix mostly just slept on the dog, to be honest--

Maybe she should also actually introduce Ophelia to people--

Amasis
(She didn't notice that Luke was now definitely watching her, but he wasn't staring, not wanting to make their new apparent alien guest uncomfortable.)

Ophelia hadn't properly realized how tired she was until Viatrix brought her into a comfortable home, and left her on a comfortable couch, and the softness enveloped her. On Dagon, most soft things had moldered or crumbled; stone and wood lingered far better than cloth and cushion, and she'd gotten used to barely-sleeping in harsh environments and uncomfortable positions.

Part of her would have been happy to fall over and sleep on the couch, but she had to be polite to her hosts. Which meant appropriate introductions.

In the morning, once she was rested, she would have a thousand questions for Viatrix about things that probably seemed mundane to the people of this era's Earth. But they certainly weren't to her, and her curiosity was piqued by any number of things she could see from her seat.

Still, even given only a few minutes, she began to lean over and drift.

When Viatrix bumped into her leg, she jolted back upright, and bent to give her Mauvian friend a skritch.

"Thank you," she said, sincerely, and she turned to the man in the doorway, and gave him a polite nod. "And thank you as well. I'll endeavor to find other accommodations for myself as swiftly as I can, but I appreciate you granting me space in your home for the time being."

Aliens.

It wasn't necessarily a foreign concept to Luke--well, no more foreign than the aliens--but it still was met with curiosity and mild surprise as he pondered their existence. He supposed if his son-in-law could be a reincarnated comet man, an alien was no weirder. And then there was the case of Caedus, who was a now living alien, not a reborn one, so he supposed it tracked that there would be others. Knowing it made sense and seeing them were two different things, though, and--well--Luke was nosy.

He just hadn't necessarily expected to be caught watching, and he let out a sheepish chuckle accompanied with a warm smile when she looked at him.

"No worries at all," he glanced to Viatrix, wishing she had actually given him a name so he wouldn't be rude-- "And you don't need to find yourself new accommodations. We have the space, and you're welcome to stay here as long as you need. Promise."

He had discussed this possibility with Safira already.

"My name is Luke, and I'm their father and father-in-law." His smile was easy and as warm as his chuckle as he gestured to the appropriate man in the appropriate order. "It's a pleasure to meet you. Do you have any food sensitivities I should know about?"

Viatrix noted the way Ophelia jolted and decided that she'd try to keep the tour minimal stress and get her to one of the bedrooms quickly. Whose former room should she slide her into? She knew the one with Constantine's extra long bed was probably best to stay reserved for Caedus ... Maybe Tammer's? That might not be a bad idea--

She purred when skritched, despite her mind going at a mile a minute, all well rubbing up against Ophelia's leg and trying her best to show her appreciation and help Ophelia relax.

Of course, Luke was a good backup in this case.

She would have said herself that Ophelia didn't need to work on finding new accommodations, but he had already easily slipped into the same. As much as she regretted he had figured out she was a talking cat, she also found she preferred it by the same measure. Now they could work together-- oh, why was Luke looking at her like that?--

"What he said!" Viatrix bumped Ophelia's leg again. "When I said you could stay here, I meant it! We got you. And he's got your food. He loves cooking."

She paused. ... Wait. Oh!

To Luke, she turned and gestured to Ophelia with one of her paws. "Her name is Ophelia!"

Smooth one, Viatrix.

It was a little surprising, to find herself welcomed so easily, but then, this was not the first strange place Ophelia had visited and found herself welcomed like an old friend.

It seemed, even now, even after so much destruction across the universe, there were warm homes full of warm hearts that welcomed the stranger and brought them in from the cold.

"Thank you," she said, sincerely. "I....can't be entirely sure, regarding food sensitivities? There was a plant on my homeworld that disagreed with me, but it's been entirely extinct for..." She paused. Thought. Attempted to do the math, and decided it wasn't that important. "Quite some time. And I would have no idea if there is an equivalent on Earth."

Or if she might have trouble with something else. Only time would tell, really.

"But my people are generally well-adapted to eating ocean-dwelling creatures; my world is a water world."

She gave a nod.

"I am glad to meet you, Lukas. As Viatrix said, I am Ophelia."

"Ophelia? Nice to meet you. We eat a lot of fish in this household, don't worry." A thoughtful pause. "We'll take it slow on herbs and spices, just in case." He didn't comment on 'Lukas'. It was close enough, and he'd been called worse.

"In the meantime, get comfortable! My wife is on her way home, too, and she'll probably pop in to see if you need or want anything." To Richard standing in the doorway to the side room, "do you have any spare clothes for...?" a pause, then back to Ophelia, "her?"

A moment's wait for confirmation, then back to his youngest son.

Richard rubbed the back of his neck. "Not... explicitly? But I have some pants with a drawstring and some old t-shirts if it's okay that they're too big?" He'd have asked Tammer, but aside from the odd sundress, Richard didn't think anything would fit Ophelia just based on height alone.

Maybe his mother would have something? She was much closer to Ophelia's size. When Safira got home, Richard would have to float the idea past her.

They really needed to start shopping second-hand discount days for a store of assorted clothing--

"Could probably offer the same, actually," followed up a groggy voice, as Ignacio walked up to the doorway behind Richard and stretched to the ceiling, not quite attempting to step around his taller husband but peeking around him. "I think we're a bit closer in height too. Not the same build obviously, but," but maybe it would tide her over until they could get her some more properly fitting clothing. Also maybe things that were her style. ... Did they know what her style was?

She was fresh to Earth. It had taken a long time for Caedus to move beyond just wearing cloaks everywhere. Instead of launching into overwhelming questions--

Viatrix gave him A Look that had prevented him from saying much more anyway, before happily turning her attention back over to Ophelia. "Those are two of the other residents here, Richard," she indicated the taller one, "and Ignacio," she indicated the shorter one. "Don't worry about them, they're fine! And they know about the senshi life too, so you don't need to hide anything here."

She pushed her head gently against Ophelia's leg.

"So here at least, you won't need any sort of guise, but we can work on one once you get some rest."

Viatrix was actually excited about the prospect of designing something new for an aquatic person. Hadn't done aquatic forms before--

"Did you want something to eat?"

It was all a bit overwhelming, if Ophelia was entirely honest. So many people, all at once, after ventures of solitude. Still,t hey were offering her food, and clothing, and a safe place to stay....there was nothing she could feel except for a warm, abiding sense of gratitude. She was going to be safe, and at least somewhat looked after while she adjusted to a new world--or perhaps more than somewhat, with how concerned everyone seemed.

It was a kindness she could not have expected. But it was a kindness she had been given nonetheless. How lucky, to fall into such a warm family.

"Thank you," she said, a little at a loss for what else to say. "I think...something to eat would be welcome." Might as well get on trying Earth food, and hopefully she would be lucky and find that it sat well with her.

Either way, she certainly had the beginnings of a very nice life.
