Kina 1
Despite having only just made it to Oba she was already done with the traveling thing. Mostly because she'd had to carry her own things. There had been the offer from her father to take one of the beasts with her to carry her stuff and as tempting as it had been, her unwillingness to be forced to take care of the animal had won out. Selfish of her, she knew, but it also saved her from being responsible for another living thing at the moment.
Kina was pretty sure she couldn't keep a desert cactus alive while she was traveling. And that was if she even remembered to bring it along!

With nothing at home to keep his attention he'd decided to head into Oba to bother his uncle. Maybe even Ade, if he could find her. Who knows, he might even get to tell them about Ari and Sio so they wouldn't get too sad about not being around.
As he and his little herd of beasts, if it could be called that, made their way toward Sulburi he came across someone else who seemed to be heading the same way. Though it looked like they had a lot more bags than he did. Lynx was used to making this trip though, so he knew where to stop and where to get more supplies for cheap. As he got closer he smiled at the girl. "Hey! You moving to Oba?" There had to be only one explanation for all the bags, right?

Matori was hot, so she hadn't thought anything about the temperature, but she was finding out that Oba's brand of hot was very different. Nykinae almost wanted to give up and go back home. Then she heard the voice of someone just behind her. It made her jump a little but when she turned and saw it was a boy about her age she relaxed a little.
"No, why would I want to live in Oba? It's too hot. I am clearly meant for cooler temperatures." Her word and tone came off as clipped as she looked the boy up and down.

He paused for a second when the girl gave her reply. Well, he hadn't been expecting that. So instead he lifted his hand and rubbed at the back of his neck. "Uh, right.." Looking her over he could tell she was a hybrid. Water and something else. But since she mentioned cooler temperatures he guessed. "Traveling toward Zena then? That's a pretty cool place." Literally. Not that Lynx had ever been there.
His other hand was nudged by his young Janarim and he smiled toward it. Lynx had been lucky in getting a more docile one to raise, though they still had pup-like behaviors.

She took a minute to look at him and then his pack animals. An idea struck her then. "You can give me a lift. Your beast can carry my stuff and you can carry me." Nykinae spoke with some authority in her tone that more or less said she wasn't going to take no for an answer. At least not from him. "I just want to get to the Jauhar border quickly. Its too hot here."

He blinked a few times before he looked at his janarim then back to the girl. His mother taught him manners and he was never one to be rude to others. It wasn't like it would hurt his beast to carry the bags. They didn't look that heavy. At least to him. So he sighed and gave a nod of his head. "Sure.. I can do tha-- wait! Carry you!?" Lynx felt his cheeks burn a little. "Uhm.. I can walk with you but I don't think I should carry you." Her legs weren't hurt after all and it wouldn't hurt her to get some exercise.

"No no, you already agreed." Kina started to hand him her bags so that he could put them on his beast. "My legs are tired and you look strong enough to carry me." Nykinae knew that she was being entitled and rude but at least this way she got what she wanted in the end.
"You seem like a nice boy who wouldn't want me to be in pain, right?" And that was usually the downfall to those around her. They were too nice.

He took her bags with a somewhat resigned sigh and began putting them on the janarim at his side. "Sorry boy.. it's not that much." He whispered.
Lynx made sure that the bags were secured in place before he turned back to look at the hybrid girl. "I don't want you to be in pain but.." How could he explain it to the girl without seeming rude? Lynx didn't particularly want to be stuck carrying her the whole way. He'd almost rather trade places with his Janarim. Let the girl ride the beast and he'd carry the bags.

She was pleased to see how easily the boy put her bags on the beast. Once she handed over the last one, of which there were only four, she patted her hands as if to get dust off them. "There, much better." A smile crossed her face and she looked at the boy expectantly.
She motioned for him to bend down. Kina was going to make him carry her on his back much how she used to have her brother Thal carry her when they were little. Of course her brother was a bit bigger than this boy when it came to muscles. "Bend down." Kina would wait until he did then drape herself over his back and hold on.

To say he'd more or less given in was an understatement. While he'd be late in going to see his uncle, by a few days at the very least, he didn't think they'd mind. More than likely his family would think he found a new beast to tame. Lynx eyed the girl before him and had to hide the smile at comparing her to a beast. Though he very much doubted he'd tame this one.
When he bent down he seemed confused at first but when he felt the girl drape across his back he understood. Piggyback ride. He'd done them enough with his younger siblings that his response was automatic. His hands went to the girl's legs and hoisted her up as he stood. Though there was something a bit wrong. His hands were on bare skin. Lynx blinked a few times before he looked down to see why and when he noticed that the girl was in a skirt and her legs were more exposed than they should be he shook his head. "Nu-uh. No. I am not carrying you like this." He bent back down and patted her arms to get her to get down.

She tilted her head as she heard him say he wouldn't carry her like that. Kina gave a sigh of frustration but let go of the boy when he motioned for her to. Standing back on her own two feet she put her hands on her hips and looked at him. "What's the big deal? You can't be that much of a weakling." She hadn't understood why he'd put her back down.
She moved so that she was semi in front of him then stomped one foot in irritation. "If my little brother can carry me I know you can."

He frowned as she spoke and then came around in front of him to throw her small tantrum. He shook his head ever so slightly. "Your uh.. weight.. isn't the issue." His cheeks were still somewhat flushed and he didn't seem to be looking at her directly. "You're wearing a skirt and you shouldn't be sitting like that.." He tried to point out as delicately as possible.
After clearing his throat he moved the few steps forward he needed. "May I?" Lynx asked as he moved his hands out toward her. He waited for her to nod before he scooped her up bridal style and adjusted so that her skirt kept her legs covered. "Will this work?" He could carry her like this for a long while so long as he didn't need to use his arms for anything else.

So it wasn't her weight? Kina looked a bit confused until he mentioned her attire. So that was his problem. Well it made Nykinae smirk at him. At least he was a gentleman enough to notice. So when he stepped forward and had his hands out to carry her another way she nodded her permission. Even if the boy was too nice to tell her no he still had manners at least.
"This is fine." Kina stated as she looped her arms around his neck to pull herself up just a bit so that she was comfortable. "Now can we go? We've wasted too much time."

Well at least the girl had no farther complaints about how she was being carried. So far anyways. With the question of whether or not they could go he nodded his head and started walking, a small whistle being the only command he gave to his beasts so that they followed.
He glanced down at the girl he held. "Just so you know.. it's gonna be a while before we reach the border." They were quite a ways off. Though he was half tempted to take her to the nearest town and put her on a caravan so he wouldn't have to carry her all the way there.

When they were off and he started to walk she settled down to relax and enjoy the ride. Kina was thankful since her poor legs had started to feel sore. She wasn't used to so much walking. Sure, she had weapons training and morning runs but never as far as she'd walked so far. Going from Matori to Oba had been a lot. And it was a trip she'd never taken before.
She also was fairly certain the boy she'd managed to find knew his way around. That meant she could be kept safe. There were advantages to what she did. Even if others didn't see them. "That's fine. Try to get us as far as possible before dark so we can find an Inn or something."
