It was that time of year again, the day they had first started dating was just a couple days away and they had decided to take another honey moon out in the desert now that the kids were old enough to mostly be on their own.
The desert air twisted by a little rain into a semblence of a lush flowering forest.
The air was lit with the scents of a multitude of cactai which coincidentally bloomed at night to attract nighttime insects and avoid the glaring heat of the day.
It was magical and everything she could wish for. She glanced over to where her husband was lounging and poking at the fire. He had made time to come out here for her and she was most appreciative.

He stared into the glowing embers which never failed to remind him of the fiery flickering orange eyes of his wife and the twins. A bright and burning light that flared it seemed when any of them were angry. They all had tempers...except maybe Thallassa and Honi.
Nin had been with him for a long time now and they had developed a beast taming empire together complete with a medical section. They had also raised a beautiful family to the point where the kids were becoming older and soon were not able to stand each other. As it should be. He smiled.
He glanced over at his wife, the light from the fire flickering across her beautiful face, if anything she got more beautiful every day.

Maybe it was the romance, the night sky,, the stars, the moon, the crackling fire, the home cooked food, the savage beauty of the desert. Maybe it was how it felt like they were in the middle of a life super highway than alone together in the desert. Howls and the calls of night birds floated through the night air and seemed to dissipate before the light from the fire. Sparks flew, and danced in the humid night, a rarity in itself in the desert but they were rather close to a remote Oasis so that was also helpful.
Maybe it was the fact that they hadn't been alone together in what felt like forever. Their house was always full and boisterous which she loved, but there was something to be said for quiet times with you and your mate alone.

Whatever it was it ended with them curled up together in a snuggle heap by the embers of the fire in the morning. They hadn't even made it into the tent before they passed out.
All he remembered was that Nin had started something that had quickly gotten as wild as a sandstorm. He smiled at the memories, it would be worth the sore back from sleeping on the ground. Legendary he might be but it had been a long time since sleeping on rocks and sand hand't made him the slightest bit stiff. Ugh.
"Don't get stiff Nin, never stop the stretches. You will need them one day." He pecked her with kisses on her head until he heard a moan.

Nin stretched monstrously and sighed slumping back into a contented ball. Somehow when they were blessedly alone together she didn't have to be the Mom of five beautiful kids, she got to be a besotted teenager again. She remembered a few of her old crushes and smiled at what she had actually gotten. More than she had ever dreamed in one wild but sweetly cultured man.
He also made a great heated pillow. She grumbled and burrowed into his chest, relishing the snuggly feel of their clothes and the blankets keeping them warm in the cool desert dawn.
She didn't want to move yet. It was too early, he should know that.
"Hush."
Then she paused and looked at him.
"Maybe it was your fancy new eyes."

He pulled her closer to him, wrapping his arms around her, as if to comfort her then he whispered in her ear. "Maybe it was your cute butt...again."
They lay there staring up at the sky as it changed from inky black to a blue blaze of glory. It was beautiful and he was incredibly happy.
Maybe, just maybe something would come of this. It had just about gotten boring at home and as chaotic as children were they also reminding you how young you are.
"Maybe there will be another baby, you know what remote camping does to us both."

She kissed him. They lay there and talked. She expressed that she wanted another child because the others were leaving the nest and she knew that he had always wanted a big family.
She loved how each of her kids were finding themselves and becoming stronger and more beautiful by the day. But she was starting to feel lonely. Though Thallassa seemed to be hanging out with her rather a lot. She felt he might be hiding from Ushiwa who was hitting his young adult years with a fire in his eyes. Thallassa was probably tired of being snuck up on from behind. Ushi knew better than to do it in front of her.
"Maybe we will get another girl!"

He was in joy shock. He was surprised that she wanted more, a little, especially since their current lot was contentedly fueding with themeselves. He could see why it had happened but he didn't have to like it. Maybe if they all had someone to be a role model for again they would shape up...or not. It could go either way.
Thank the gods for Honi and Einsol.

"Yes well, they are rather charming when they are small and sucking all of my sleep away but you know you really feel the love. And, when they first grasp your finger with their itty bitty hands, and you realize that there is nothing you love more in the whole world. Then they grow up have a fight with their siblings and move to Zena forever and break your heart." Nin had a few tears trailing down her cheeks, something she would likely never do in front of her kids.
"I miss her already Kiyelt"

"I know Nin, but we can't hold on to them forever, and I don't really blame her for leaving, I had to leave home when I was little she just happened to go in the opposite direction, my family there will keep an eye on her."
He hugged her. "I'll make some coffee, it is all going to be okay, besides if she is up there long enough she might find some friends."
Kina needed some friends, the problem was usually Kina herself. He missed her terribly.

"I hate the growing up part so much." She sobbed. She hadn't meant to cry but it was hard when things changed, they couldn't stay and eat her food every meal for forever after all. Honestly if that were the case the house would probably need a new foundation. She was proud of their daughter for being independant but it still felt like she was being stabbed in the heart when she pictured the little girl Ny had been and the beautiful woman she had become.

"Me too love, me too." He scurried out of the blankets to start the fire up again and boil water for coffee. He couldn't live without the stuff or rather he chose not too. It was also what kept Nin going during long nights caring for animals that needed attention at all hours.
"Soon enough they will have grandkids and will visit with them, enjoy the quiet while we have it because I hope to not be lonely long." To prove this he flopped beside her and kissed her belly.
"Reckon we can survive another round of diapers Nin?" He was so excited. Babies were his favorite thing.

"Though after this I'm done with diapers and sleeping with a hunting knife just in case you get ideas." She mock glared at him. She figured 6 kids was probably all that Tendaji could handle, besides she liked to travel wtih him. It would at least be easier to travel with only one baby. She couldn't wait for the looks on the kids faces if they did manage to get pregnant again.
She poked Kiyelt in the chest for emphasis.

He tried his best to look innocent. "Its not my fault that I can't survive without you Nin you sealed that when you completely stole my heart. You were always so serious that I had wondered at one point if you even smiled."
Nin had been through a lot though, her childhood had been interupted by tragedy. Now at least she had a network of people around her.

"I had a lot on my mind, it was hard work learning animals and medical stuff at the same time. I don't think I slept a lot which might have contributed to my sleepy face."
She sipped coffee from the cup he handed her, she felt like she would finally come alive as the tart taste hit her. Yum.
"You make the best coffee its like a hug in a cup."
