Myles was not a chef to any degree, unless you counted a bowl of Lucky Charms as a culinary meal, so the logical thing to do was order food. He’d been out when he got the call from his brother that they had a guest staying over and that he needed to come home right away, and Jeremy must have had the same thought as he did because he told him to pick up some food while he was out.
Myles had of course obliged, anything for his brother, but he’d been worried. Jeremy told him Drew was there, and then nothing else. Which probably wasn’t an oversight for Jeremy.
His suspicions were confirmed when he showed up and there was a strange, golden man sleeping on their couch, buried under blankets. The apartment was an oven, but Myles didn’t mind–he was usually cold, anyway, and he’d just come in so it was perfect for him.
He’d been filled in rather quickly and was assigned the task of keeping watch over their sleeping guest until Jeremy and Drew’s shift ended. An otherworldly guest seemed like a wild idea, but Myles wasn’t the sort to judge him for any of that. He promised to do his best and keep his eye on him, and Jeremy had trusted him to do just that.
Even if he was texting every fifteen minutes.
Myles had nothing new to report for a while, aside from ‘He’s still sleeping’ and ‘He’s still breathing’, but it didn’t stop Jeremy from worrying and Myles thought that was endearing. It seemed like the guest could sleep through anything, so Myles left the television on low, cleaned up a bit, checked on him often. He didn’t know what to expect, but he was trying to make sure that when their guest woke up, he'd know he was safe. So, he lit a calming candle, kept the lights on, tried not to move too quickly.
The hardest part was just waiting.

Sekhmet jerked awake in alien surroundings once more. The two Humans from before were gone, and there was a third, that looked the older of the first two, but with reddish hair. Red the desert. Red could mean good or evil. Mother Sekhmet was a Desert Goddess, who brought war and sickness but also peace and medicine. Then there was Set... He sat there studying the young man. "Who are you?" He asked simply. There was a lot to learn of Earth - that obviously changed much during the lockdown. Humans of every color and every clothing, and no main Senshi, but hundreds? And Knights by the thousands? And Mauvians, with no link to Mau? And a great war with Nega Officers, and Corrupted Senshi?!?!? and Corrupted Cat?!?!? (How could this be?) And what were Dark Mirror Senshi? He studied the room around him.... there was a flat screen - almost like Moon tech - that people were talking and acting on, but they didn't react to the Human or Sekhmet. There was other technology in the room. Sekhmet knew about technology because of being a Senshi, had sent him to other worlds (some with it and some without it). Sekhmeians had chosen to live without Technology - except for one piece of Mauvian technology that allowed him to become Sailor Sekhmet. His gaze returned to the pale Human. He had a lot to learn, if he was to survive this place. He had to survive if he was going to develop his powers enough to return home, and defeat that thing. He was ready to learn. And something told him he could trust this Human. The older Human that looked like him - only time would tell. He seemed grouchy set in his ways, like some of the older folk on Sekhmet, But, like them, he had a good heart deep inside. The darker Human... there was something about him. He knew a lot about Senshi. Maybe too much for an ordinary Human. He was definitely apparent of the war. He seemed good-natured, but there was something that Sekhmet couldn't quite put his finger on - something not quite right about the guy. He frowned - his memories were fuzzy. He turned to the pale Human in front of him. "My name is Sekhmet - Sailor Sekhmet. No, I'm not powered up right now, but I have no need to tell you my personal name right now. My world is on the brink of death and has been for... I can't remember how long. I am the last of my people. I was on the verge of my strength giving out once and for all, when there was an energy pulse from this world, and I knew that here there was hope, there was life. And so, I came here... but already having spent my energy fighting for so long, the transport being so long and taking so much out of me, I quickly succumbed to the coldness of your world. My homeworld is mostly a desert. I believe that is where the other two Humans found me. So, teach me, teach me about this, milord, I beg of you."

Myles nearly jumped at the man’s voice. “Oh, jeez,” he said quickly. “I am not qualified to be giving anyone any lessons. I mean, hi, my name is Myles. My brother, Jeremy, and his friend, Drew–they brought you here. You’re safe here, are you warm enough? I’ve got some food, if you’re hungry? I’m–please don’t go around and tell anyone, but I’m–I might know a thing or two about, you know, Senshi things, but I’m not an expert. There are a ton of people who are smarter than me. I’m just here to make sure you’re okay. Jeremy and Drew will be back in a little bit. They’re like, um.”
He searched for the word. “Like…protectors? Of this world? I mean, sort of. Not like Senshi or Knights. Well.” …Drew yes, Jeremy no.
“What I mean to say, they’re like, um. Guards? They’re doing guardly duties right now. They’re keeping our city safe. Police officers? I don’t know if you have those. But the point is, they’ll be back soon, and I have food. Do you have any allergies or anything? Let me get you a plate, we can sit down and talk. Can I call you Sekh? I don’t need your name if you don’t want to share it, that’s okay. But let’s get some energy in you, what’s all this about another world? You’ve been somewhere else? You’re from somewhere else?”

Oh Sekhmet thought. Another note to how this world is a little weird. And this guy is common folk. And perhaps a Senshi as well. Sekhmet felt closer to the guy already. "If you wish to call me that for now, you may. Yes, food will be good thank you.... um please no cabbage... at this moment I don't think I could handle it for a long time." He adjusted the blankets - he was not used to using a lot of blankets or really thick ones either - usually just one thin linen sheet- but right now they felt nice. "I feel - quite warm thank you... " There was a strange look upon his face, as he tried to comprehend that feeling. "You have to understand that my world and most of the ones that I've been on -" Here he paused, as he realized that his memories of those worlds were missing, with a frown. "Are quite hot, and I barely understood the meaning of cold. Was that... I hesitate to guess, but was that Snow? I've never been around it, so I don't know." "Yes, we had 'Protectors' on my world as you put it, we call them Guardians of the Peace or just 'Gops' if you want to use slang. " He frowned at the thought of them. " "So, if you can't teach me, then just talk with me, and we can learn about each other's world through conversation. That will help me extensively, Myles." He said, with a small smile.

Gops? Gops? Oh, that was close to Cops, Myles shouldn’t laugh at that. Instead, he just smiled, and hurried to the pizza boxes waiting on the counter. “Oh, you seem sweet. I like you. That was snow, out there, yeah. It’s winter, it gets really cold. But it’ll be spring in a while, and it’ll warm up by then. Trust me,” he put two pieces of cheese pizza on the plate, and one slice of pepperoni pizza, “You do not have to worry about vegetables in this house. I don’t even remember the last time I saw a cabbage.”
He brought the plate over, and one for himself, and sat down in the chair across from Sekh.
“Eat as much as you want, we’ve got plenty. I can get you a drink. I’m guessing you haven’t had soda before? It’s really neat, it’s like, a carbonated fruit drink? But I can get you water. Or chocolate milk. Hm.” He looked at the pizza. “Soda goes best, but water is fail-safe.”
He sort of waited for a response, but smiled again, encouragingly. “What else is your world like? I can tell you about Earth, but I don’t even know where to start. You’ve never been here before? How did you get here this time?”

Sekhmet had never had pizza or soda but as he had them, he loved them. "So, my world? Where do I start?" He mused. "My world is Sekhmet, which I take my name from - Sailor Sekhmet - as you've probably already guessed." He looked at Myles with a knowing look in his eye. "We often call her Mother Sekhmet as we believe she watches over us. Sekhmet, I believe is half the size of Earth. "Most of the planet is desert, red desert- with hot winds - said to be the very breath of Mother Sekhmet, who is seen to have been the forebearer of War and of Peace, and of Sickness and Peace. "Most of the cities are wrapped around small jungles that are situated along rivers - the greatest of these is the Kafile with its Baccahippos and its humongocrocs. "What the buildings of these cities are made from, depends on what part of the city it is in and what it serves. For instance, the poorer people in the bad part of the city live in mud shacks. Meanwhile, the Pharaoh and many of the great temples and many of the Noblemen live in buildings of Alablasters. "There are many statues of Mother Sekhmet's more humanoid form, as well as some of the more Minor Gods and the Pharaoh as well. "Meanwhile, the tombs, which are on the Western side of the rivers, (all the buildings of the living are on the Eastern side), are sandstone, they are made of Pyramids and Sphinxes and the likes. "We eat a lot of what you might call exotic dishes. just about any kind of meat excluding many of the smaller dirtier rodents, swine and such. We eat a lot of fruit, veggies, nuts and dairy products - and beans- yech. And sometimes cabbage - " a shudder of fear came over Sekhmet and he was silent for a moment. "It is rather a beautiful place - er it was..." Sekhmet had been taking bites of pizza and chewing, and taking sips of soda in between all this, but now the hand holding his pizza froze in mid-air and he just stared out into space - a dark look on his face.

Myles nodded along as he listened, and even seemed eager. “Oh, you know of Earth? That’s good!”
It meant that he wasn’t on a world totally new and unknown to him.
“Well it sounds amazing. We have, um. You know, pizza, soda,” he gestured to the meal. “Like, brick houses? Or drywall? I don’t…” He looked at the wall of the apartment. “I don’t know what that is, but you know. We have electricity, running water. You can borrow some clothes if you like, just to stay warm. I know it’s really cold outside. There’s not a lot of room here, but Drew might be able to figure something out. So, um.”
He pursed his lips and seemed thoughtful.
“It sounds like your world is in a lot of trouble. Do you–can you stay here for a while? Get your strength back, and figure out a plan? I mean, here–we have a lot of Senshi and Knights here. But our worlds haven’t supported life in a long time, so–we were born here. And most people on Earth don’t even know about the whole war thing. Oh, but you have to be careful while you’re here. We’ve got the Negaverse to deal with, and they’re like, this big Chaotic…force. So you’re going to have to be careful. But you should stay here and recover. We have a lot of people who will want to help however they can. Oh! Me included. I mean,” he seemed a little airheaded, but his heart was in the right place. “I’ll do my best. I’m not the best Senshi. I try! But I think I still have a way to go. And my brother is pretty overprotective, so I stay pretty safe.”

Sekhmet frowned when Myles mentioned that Sekhmet must know of Earth. "Well, I had to kind of study it when I was in ... class - um it's kind fuzzy now," Sekhmet tried to remember exactly what class, he had learned it in. "However, I was under the impression that it wasn't this far advanced." He grinned sheepishly at Myles. "My apologies for being so ignorant." He pursed his lips at the mention of Drew. "Drew, the one with the shaved head?" His eyes clouded for a moment. "Therre is just something about that guy..., I don't know... for some reason I don't exactly trust him." "Yes," he said about the clothing. "Yes, I think that would be a good idea." When Myles talked about staying a while and getting his strength back, and so forth, Sekhmet frowned. His eyes went dark with pain. "Myles... my world is about dead... I've been fighting a Chaos thing for -- I don't even know how long anymore. I mentioned I don't like Cabbage? There is a reason. So long ago, an asteroid hit our world or at least that's what we thought it was. The rocky exterior crumbled away leaving what looked like a giant cabbage. Anyone who went near it was absorbed by it. Later it would use the images of those it absorbed and their seemingly personalities to lure loved ones nearer to it. When it wasn't absorbing people, it sank its roots into the ground and absorbed Mother Sekhmet's energy." Why was he telling a complete stranger, an alien no less his whole story? "I've been fighting it so long - there is no one left, but me. And Mother Sekhmet doesn't have much energy left. I was in my final 'end all' battle with it, and I had given up. I had nothing left. There were barely dregs of strength left in Mother Sekhmet and myself to fight. Then suddenly - there was great wave of energy that crossed the path of my world and there was a voice - seemingly from Mother Sekhmet- There is hope, go now, teleport to that origin. I was already thoroughly exhausted from fighting for years on dregs of strength, the teleportation was a great distance and required a great more strength, and when I landed here on your planet, I was hit by a cold I had never experienced- I lost consciousness. Myles..." Sekhmet said with a look of no hope on his face, "I'm not sure there is anything to go back to, except that stinking cabbage."

Myles nodded along with whatever Sekhmet said, obviously listening and trusting him–even if he was very confused by all of this. A look of sympathy crossed his face and then he said, “I’m really sorry to hear that, Sekh. I don’t know if you’ll find any reassurance in it, but my world is dead. Kind of. I mean–there’s no life on it. But I’ve heard of Senshi that have found a way to revive their world. So I’m sure not all hope is lost. But,” he hesitated and then moved to sit a little closer.
Myles looked like the nervous sort–enthusiastic, but not quite sure of himself. He smiled, and tried to make it convincingly hopeful.
“You aren’t alone anymore. You’ll have help. There are a lot of great people who are really passionate. Dres’s a good guy, he works with my brother a lot. And my brother’s a really good guy. I promise, you’ll have as much support as we can give while you’re here. Food, shelter, support. For as long as you’re here, we can make sure you’re taken care of. We don’t have much–well, I don’t have much, but Jeremy’s always made usre I have as much as I need. And I’m sure Drew will help, and we can hook you up with other people. Is there anything else I can get for you while you’re here? I’ve never done anything like this before, but I want to make sure you’re okay. We’ll help you, and your world–however we can.”

Sekhmet nodded. "Thank you, Myles. It is obvious that I will be staying here for a while." He looked at his golden hands and said, "I think I will need a disguise," then looked around him, "I don't know that there is enough room for me to stay here with you guys for now, I will probably need a place to stay -" he looked Myles straight in the eyes, "From what you have told me, Senshi-ship, is not a career in itself here, but instead something to be hidden. I will probably need some sort of job..." He wasn't looking forward to that as he had never learned a trade, except to fight as a Senshi - that had been his only purpose. He frowned at the thought. "I guess we have a lot to do." He grinned.

Myles found himself laughing, but only because Sekh seemed like he was at least being a good sport about all of this. He had good drive and he seemed like he was willing to do whatever was necessary.
“Yeah, sounds like it. But you’re not alone,” he promised. “I’ll see about getting a Mauvian over here to help, I think they have a lot of experience with things like that. And they’re typically pretty smart, so they might have answers that I don’t have. We’ll get you taken care of. For now, eat,” he insisted, and offered him more food. “Drink, I can get you a warm shower if you want, and we can let you borrow some clothes. If you need more blankets, I can do that, too. I just want you to be safe here, and comfortable.”
…It was probably pretty hard to be from another world.
Myles definitely didn’t think he was the person most cut out for this job but he was going to do everything in his power to do the best job he could do.
Jeremy and Drew would be back later, too–they might have better ideas for what to do. For now, he could just try to answer questions, make sure Sekh was taken care of, and maybe try to make friends.
