Puck was on the hunt.

Out on his nightly patrol, the Eternal Senshi had caught the faint aura of a Negaverse agent lurking in the vicinity of the Arts District. His home. That was way too close for comfort, even knowing that Chaos lurked everywhere in Destiny City. He didn't want anything happening to his family, or to Sid – because even though she was actually Eternal Sailor Eros, he knew full well she wasn't a combat monster like he was. If he thought about it, he knew she could probably take care of herself, one way or another (he didn't know what her magic was, for one thing, despite her sharing his house for years), but he didn't want to take the chance.

So he leapt from rooftop to rooftop amongst the lofts and converted warehouses of the Arts District, hunting down the unwanted Chaos agent that had dared to venture onto his turf.

The closer he got to where the signature was emanating from, the stronger it got, and the more he was able to glean from it. It felt pretty strong, so it was likely a General. Puck grinned to himself at that – since becoming an Eternal, he knew he could hold his own with Generals. Hell, he held his own with them even as a Super! This made the prospect of a fight even more entertaining. He knew it wasn't his nemesis Faustite, though; that signature he knew by heart, and this wasn't it.

Who was it?

Oh, good.

It was someone she didn't have to feel bad about stabbing.

A lot of the Order people she'd ended up around lately had been weird. Some of them had asked the right questions or told the right stories and gotten in her head. Some of them had been weirdly nice. They'd all left her too shaky to actually fight, despite none of them so much as hitting her. She'd even ended up crying a couple of times, and Sylvite was sick of it.

Like, yeah, it hadn't been all bad. She'd gotten some decent information from the database out of it, but right now she wasn't in the mood to let Order see how shaken she was and let them poke at her until they let something slip about their own lives.

She was in the mood to act like a General.

So, when she saw the dude with the leaves in his hair running at her through the Arts District, she smiled.

"Oh, it's you but minus the backup," she said, summoning her knives.

Leaping down from the rooftops to search through the streets and alleys, Puck was ready to lay down some damage on whichever General it was. He rounded a corner and spotted pink – and immediately knew who had invaded his patch of real estate: Sylvite, that b***h who had stabbed Cybele in the back with a dagger. The blood everywhere, the walk to the hospital, it all came back to him. So did his anger at her.

"Who needs backup?" he growled in response. "I'll sort you out myself."

The Eternal stopped and pointed at her. "Wild Copse," he called out. General Sylvite deserved to be in a cage.

Quote:
Super Sailor Scout Attack: Wild Copse
Puck points at his target and calls out the attack name, and a dense patch of forest undergrowth typically reaching about waist-high springs up around the feet of his target. Along with the undergrowth entangling the target's feet, there are also young trees surrounding them with this attack, acting as a cage. The undergrowth, extending in about a 10-foot radius around the target, consists of a tangle of ivy, ferns, shrubs and small saplings atop slippery moss and leaf litter underfoot. The trees stand about 10-12 feet tall and are spaced so that it is nearly impossible to squeeze one's body between them. It is still possible for the enemy to reach their arms through the trees and use ranged attacks, however, so Puck basically casts it and runs. He has to be within 15 feet of his target to use this; if the target can get outside the radius before the undergrowth or trees appear, it can be dodged. It lasts around 30 seconds before dissipating. He can use this up to twice per battle.

She hadn't seen Puck's magic before. She didn't know what she'd been expecting, but it definitely wasn't a literal cage of trees. There was something itchy at her feet, too, and when Sylvite looked down, she saw a bunch of random brush.

Honestly, it took the wind out of her sails a little bit. She couldn't exactly charge him like this. She might've been able to teleport, but at that point there was no guarantee he wouldn't just try something like this again.

That left waiting it out.

"Oh no," she said, poking at a sapling with a knife. "I'm trapped. Totally incapacitated. Guess I just gotta give up forever or something."

Thirty seconds or so, probably. Then she'd stab him.

"You're a snarky one, aren't you?" Puck gave her a little smirk as he strolled closer to the magical time-out he'd put Sylvite in – not too close, though, as he remembered her sharp knives. She could throw them at him from between the trees if she wanted to, but it sounded like she was simply going to wait for the magic to dissipate. Smart girl.

His smirk was replaced by a snarl. "I've wanted a go at you ever since I came upon you and Cybele," he growled. "You nearly did her in, and I know why." He stopped and crossed his arms. "You couldn't take losing your little pet, could you? She betrayed you by purifying."

He knew the prison of saplings wouldn't last much longer, so he lowered his arms and readied himself for whatever Sylvite had in mind to do to him, most likely attempt to stab him. The smirk returned and he looked her dead in the eyes. "Come on, b***h, let's dance," he said, gesturing at her to come for him as the copse faded into nothing.

Sylvite found a big enough gap in the trees that she could look at Puck, and so that he could see her face when she rolled her eyes.

"She started it. I bet she didn't tell you that," said Sylvite with a hint of a hiss in her voice. "Shot me in the back. Her and her friend had already murdered a new recruit that night. Even after that, I gave her a second chance in the Negaverse, and, yeah."

It had all kinda backfired.

Now she knew that she knew that she couldn't just force someone to fight for her. Now she knew that she never should've put Cybele's starseed back in her chest after the ambush where she'd gotten the upper hand.

"But fine. If you wanna get involved, get involved," she said, and as the trees vanished, she took a step towards Puck's left as a feint, then teleported to his right and slashed out.

Luckily, Puck fell for the General's feint, lunging to his left; if he hadn't, he would have gotten a much bigger gash in his right shoulder than he ended up with. Still, it was a significant cut. "s**t!" he barked, wheeling about with a snarl. Sylvite's knives were razor-sharp, to the point he almost didn't realize he'd been cut until the blood started to flow. "I keep ********' forgetting you people can teleport." Well, if she wanted to fight dirty, he would be more than happy to oblige.

Snaking out his right hand as fast as he could, he made to grab Sylvite by the offending wrist. He lashed out with a leg to try to kick her in the side at the same time, hoping he was quick enough with both moves to nail her before she bamfed out of reach.

"Murder is all you lot seem to understand," he said as his leg swung for her. "I don't blame Cybele one bit."

"You just wanna think I'm a murderer?" said Sylvite, even as her blade hit.

She wasn't. She'd never killed anyone. Every single starseed she'd taken out of somebody to taunt a senshi with, she'd put right back where it had belonged after she was done with it.

This guy wasn't gonna care about any of that, though.

He caught her wrist, and his kick hit, hard. Sylvite hissed as her foot was knocked out from under her, and she slid down to her knees.

"Okay. Whatever," she said through gritted teeth as she glanced up at him. "We can go with that."

This time, she stabbed at his legs.

Still holding onto Sylvite's wrist, Puck yelped and swung his leg out of harm's way. The other leg stayed put, though, and the sharp dagger neatly sliced through his trousers, dislodging a few leaves, and embedded itself in his thigh. He howled at the pain and leapt back, releasing his grip on her and freeing himself from the blade in his leg.

"You're all murderers," he hissed as he clutched at his wound. "I know you steal starseeds and give 'em to your boss-lady, if you don't eat them yourselves." He remembered the captain he killed, remembered the horrible sensation of hands in his chest, fingers grasping his starseed. First that captain, then Faustite.

They were all monsters – more monstrous than the youmas they kept as pets.

With renewed adrenaline, he charged her with a guttural roar, hands balled into fists. Even if he got stabbed again, he had to take this b***h down.

Okay. She'd gotten a leg. That was good. It'd make it harder for him to walk. It'd make it harder for him to get away.

Even in the middle of their fight, Sylvite couldn't help rolling her eyes at what he was saying. Starseeds. Yeah. That was what all of them got hung up on, like it was some kind of thing that happened all the time.

"I've literally never done that," she said, and it wasn't a lie.

Saying it might have been a mistake, though, 'cause it meant she wasn't paying enough attention when he came at her again, and his punch hit.

Not only did it hit, it hit hard. Sylvite was sent flying for half a second, and then she was skittering across the ground until she could get enough traction to stop herself.

This time, she stayed put, watching while she tried to catch her breath again, waiting for him to get closer.

Puck got a good swing in, and a solid hit, knocking the Negaverse General off her feet and back about a yard or so before she caught her balance. Instead of charging her again, though, he just stood there across from her, shoulders hunched as if preparing to lunge and grapple with her. The pain from her attacks was evident on his face, twisted into a mask of fury.

"No, I believe you," he rasped, his breathing a bit ragged. "You don't have to. That's what you Generals have underlings for, to go out and harvest energy and starseeds for you." He allowed a wicked smirk to cross his lips. "Well, you're down one underling at least, now that Cybele has come back to us."

Bracing himself for Sylvite to attack him again, he stood still, dripping blood, the smirk firmly in place as if it was a dare.

"I don't have them do it either," said Sylvite, the words coming out all thin 'cause of the way the air had been knocked out of her.

Like, yeah, she had them get energy, but she'd never ordered starseeds. If her team was getting those, they were doing it of their own volition to impress Laurelite or something.

There wasn't much time to spell all that out, though. It wasn't gonna be worth it, even if she did. He was convinced that she was some kind of monster.

She didn't really feel like fighting that impression too much. He could be scared of her. That was fine.

Especially since he kept taunting her about Cybele.

She lunged forwards again, knived biting out, going for whatever they could reach first.

Puck knew he'd hit that raw nerve again, and he grinned. Leaping back lessened the impact of the sharp knives a little, but Sylvite was moving fast and both of her blades still managed to slice him deeply across the chest. He hissed in pain, his grin turning into a grimace as more blood flowed, turning his white shirt red.

"Yeah, pull the other one, it's got bells on," he growled. In her own way, she was really no different than Faustite as far as he was concerned; different methods to achieve the same goal. And he'd seen too many Negaverse agents with their hands in some poor b*****d's chest to believe otherwise.

He charged forward toward her and grabbed her by the shoulders, intending to use his favorite move on her and give Sylvite the head-butt to end all head-butts.

Sylvite probably should've seen it coming. She'd gotten in close, and he'd been waiting for her. She didn't, though. She was so busy being mad and sad that she'd forgotten all about his tactics.

Crack.

The headbutt hit. Everything flashed black for a split second. After that, Sylvite saw stars.

There were people in the Negaverse who got into pain. It made them fight harder. It was almost like they liked it. Sylvite had seen it plenty of times. Cybele had been like that, kinda.

She was not.

As her vision kept spinning and her head roared, Sylvite kinda deflated. While she wouldn't have minded sticking her knives in this dude a few more times, she didn't wanna keep taking hits in order to do it.

She did push a knife at him, but it was more to get him away than anything else. She just needed a little space, then she could get out of here and he could have fun bleeding.

This time Puck rammed his head into Sylvite's with sufficient force that he rang his own bell a little bit. He had no problem stepping back so he could clear his head as the General brandished her knife at him again. But he knew he'd hit the mark by the way she was behaving, and he grinned.

You could take the Brit out of the pub brawl, but you could never take the pub brawl out of the Brit.

"Had enough?" he smirked, wiping his chest with one hand and smearing blood across his skin.
