Hopefully one day they will learn the truth. I was apalled and phisacally sickened by some of the things said. I would advise you guys to read the Message from the First Presidency in the January 2005 edition of Ensign. I just taught at my last home teaching session. It is regarding a poster in a thread I created long time ago ((Extended Discussion: Morality & Religion: FAQs About Mormonism)). It has long since turned into a discussion/ debate thread. I don't post much on it anymore because I find that the spirit of contention often takes hold in the "discussions".
Apparntly, Gaian named "Take0" is rifling up the contention,nd isflaming Mormons, and ignoring the "rules".

So, if you were to go to the profile of Take0(link provided), click on the 'Ignore' button, and then he will no longer be able to enter teh thread and throw his ignorence around. Please? He's Anti-Mormon. Though you may think of me as an Anti-Mormon, truly, I am not exactly that. Ask WhiteLightOne and Pyropyre in the thread wether I am Hardcore Anti or not. Then ask them about Take0. See which one they prefer. I mean you no ill will, though I do not like certain mormons, Killswitch and JGS for examples, it is on a purely intellectual basis, I couldn't care less for their Religion. And yes, I am friends with Sheehandan, but I am certainly not holding a Vendetta against the Church. I have many Mormon friends myself, you must understand.

First a little back story: One of the Former Students of my Film as Lit teacher went to Uganda, Africa to find a story for a documentary they wanted to do. It shows the Turmoil that these people are going through and have been going through for the past 17 years. Now onto business: I want to know what we as Youth of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints can do to help. Tiancum I've decided to give a play by play of the watching of this... loading loading loading 84% sweatdrop man this thing must be huge here we go man they are so crowded just imagine the disease from the crowding .....its over? I don't understand.... what is happening? please explain Gwyndara You want to help people the best thing to do is donate to the Church Humanitarian fund and help make thoes little kits that the relif socitety has been makeing. Torch24601 It's not just the kids there. I'm currently doing a speech on the conditions there and what the UN can do to help. My major focus is on the women there. 1/3 have been raped, many of them kidnapped, I won't go into details, but my normally strong stomach faltered and I felt very queasy. I was always trying to defend the church, but the people were so rude. In the end, I just left, it was really damaging my testimony. Now I hang out in LI when I'm depressed, or feeling helpful. I try to not go nto the gay marraige thing. If I'm coerced into it, I will state that the statistics show that children do best with one male and one female parent. Because this is something that has been researched.
I have gone into great depth on #1 before, going so far as to explain it in great detail how some people actually have a chemical disorder which makes them gay: there are at least a handful of Mormons who are gay. But they still follow the same standards as the rest of us, knowing that they will never be able to marry someone of the same sex. They simply abstain from sexual activity, like any one of us would if we were to never marry.

that is probably the best way to go. great ideas there.

I have a friend who has accepted a proposal of marriage from a returned missionary. Which is all good in itself, but the thing is he just got back literally 2 1/2 months ago, which is more or less when they began dating. And now they're engaged to get married. Is this why the divorce rate is so high at BYU? Am I just too liberal for my own good? What are your thoughts? domokun [Keign] I think the problem is people thinking themselves to be ready for marriage while in fact they are not. That doesn't mean they aren't in love, per-say, but the friendship in the relationship isn't yet strong enough to survive the troubles that come with marriage. I wouldn't say this is caused by marrying young, however. Though admittedly that probably does play into it often enough. That make enough sense? Oh yeah, and I have no idea why we're pressured to marry young, (I don't think it's that much pressure, anyway.) but there is probably a logical reason there. Perhaps it's to bring more children to the world, (after all, there's still quite a few people yet to be given bodies) or perhaps it's so that after you've been sealed, it's one thing that you've sort of taken care of to get into the Celestial Kingdom. I think so often people get married becuase thats what you do. they feel liek there is something wrong with them if they arnt in a hurry to get married. sometimes tehy are so worried they get married even though they know they arn't ready too. however i dont think they realize this simply becuase their need to be "normal" clouds their reception of what is right for them. at anyrate im in no hurry at all. if i don't get my life more straitend out first i dont want anything to do wiht marriage. I have alot going on such as school, and jsut plain feelign comfortable with myself. when i get a better hold on these things then I will start thinking about marriage again. Other religions don't talk about it near as much. I'll go out on a limb here, (follow me, if you think you can... I don't know if I can), It might be that in other religions, marraige isn't held in the highest of high, and families, though important, are not the most important thing on the list. Children might be influenced by their parents, and not take marraige that seriously. The fact that alot of people see that marraige has it's downfalls in other religions, along with how much it is talked about in our church, they know that maraige is a sacred thing and is something that will last forever ( look at the sterotypical LDS family: Strong love between parents, love between siblings in a sibling manner, a perfect household. By perfect, I mean one where if something bad happens, they could fall back on eachother.) Possibly because kids were raised in such families, they believe that it is impervious ... no, that's not the right word... important .... er... that getting into such a loving relationship with their special someone is something that should be high on their list as well, so they can have the happy family that they did when they were young. Once again, going out on a limb there, so I don't know if it even makes sense. I think it has alot to do with the impression that families will work out, no matter what. An impression that has been set by the generation that preceeds us. What I guess alot of people don't know is that it takes alot of work to keep a family so happy, and to keep everything so peaceful and loving. (I just had a fireside on that on sunday!) Confusion can lead to the need not to be so, as I've said before, but if not approched correctly, it can lead to worse conditions. I say 20 or less years to go before Christ comes again guys and why does this tie into how quickly we're getting married? Off Topic: I heard in the new today that a nineteen-year-old girl was driving in an SUV with two of her friends, and due to the storm here in So. Cal. ((Has just reached 4th place as the most amount of rain in one season in CA recorded history . . . eek )), her car swerved, went through the railing on the Freeway, and landed in the Santa Ana River. Miraculously, only she was hurt ((small gash on head)), and the three of them were able to swim to shore. *Is speachless* Do you have any idea how much of a "rapid" that river is right now? It's crazy! gonk I was amazed when I heard this on the news . . .
