Xylia was exploring the Oban market when she encountered the golden youngling. “Are you okay?” She asked with a frown as she noticed how the girl was holding onto her arm as if she were injured. Normally Xylia just went about her own business but the youngling had caught her attention and she couldn’t help but to feel worried. The area was a mess, obvious signs of a fight around a nearby stall, but it looked like the guards were already gone. More than likely chasing the culprit it seemed.

Alinta was having the worst afternoon. The youngling had gotten into a dispute with someone that didn’t acknowledge her as a lady of noble standing and had been shoved roughly to the side. The person of course was long gone after being chased by guards but Alinta had taken a moment to sit in bitter silence. Not only had they verbally insulted her they had actually hit her! Her shoulder ached where she had slammed into the merchant’s stall. Still, she had to regain her composure. She had to! And now there was someone talking to her. Alinta took a deep breath before glancing backwards and nodding. “I’ll be alright.”

“Uh huh.” Xylia pursed her lips before holding out a hand to help the other girl up. “Doesn’t look like it’s that simple. You may need some bandages for that scrape.” She clicked her tongue on the inside of her mouth in disdain. Whoever had done that was a nasty brute.

“You don’t have to help me.” Snapped back Alinta even though she allowed the older teen to pick her up. Her expression softened when she realized it was a hybrid helping her. Aishan blood? Maybe that was why she was being nicer than some of the others who had simply walked along. “Thank you.” She managed finally as she stood and dusted the sand from her ruined clothing.

“But I am helping you.” Xylia smiled as she helped to brush the dirt and sand from the girl’s clothing. “My name is Xylia and you are?” She was already moving the tunic to try and check on the wound that cut across the girl’s back. Thankfully she had a lot of crystals there to help protect the skin there even though it looked irritated from the fall.

“Alinta.” The girl hissed in pain as Xylia inspected her wound. “Do you know a good healer? I can’t come home like this.” She could easily change her outfit but she refused to allow her mother to see her injured. How shameful!

“I can fix you up.” Xylia offered. “I have some supplies if you don’t mind following me somewhere quieter? There’s an oasis and we can get you cleaned up.” She also knew a dress shop in town that they could visit since her clothing would need replaced.

“Sure.” Alinta didn’t even hesitate. She had already been harmed today so what was the point in even refusing help from a stranger? It didn’t look like this Xylia was out to hurt her. “Lead the way?”

Xylia nodded before keeping hold of the youngling’s hand and taking her from the market. At least she knew that she could keep the girl safe in case anyone else wanted to cause trouble. Eventually they crossed a few streets and emerged outside of town near an oasis. It wasn’t far away, one of the closer ones but thankfully it was quieter during the busy market hours. “Here.” Xylia pointed towards a smooth rock that the girl could perch on. “Let me apply some ointment and bandage you up.”

Normally Alinta would protest this strange situation much more but she was oddly quiet as she simply sat down as instructed and waited for the other girl to apply the ointment. It was easier to hide bandages than coming home covered in blood and bruises. Alinta sighed as she rotated her arm. Hopefully it was just sprained and not anything serious.

“It looks just like a bad scrape. You crashed into something, right? Looks like wood so a merchant’s stall?” Xylia let out a sigh of frustration. “People are so rude.” She gently applied the ointment as she continued speaking. “But hopefully you’re alright. I can put your shoulder back in place if it’s dislocated. It will hurt though.” Her lips twisted as she studied the growing bruise. She would most definitely need to fix that.

“I can take pain.” Alinta advised as she sat straighter and tried to ignore the throbbing in her shoulder. “As long as you wrap everything neatly it’ll be okay.” She had hit a merchant’s stall but the culprit had taken off like fire was on their heels when the guards came around. Alinta shook her head in frustration. If only she had moved faster! One day she would be able to truly be able to fight and then they would see!

“Alright.” Xylia nodded. “Count to three with me and I’ll take care of it.” Fortunately for the youngling, the teen had been trained by her Aishan mother. Alkidikes didn’t have earthling healers so everyone was expected to know some basic form of medical knowledge. There were specialists of course but you never knew when a hunt could go wrong. “One, two and three.” Xylia moved quickly and couldn’t help wincing when she heard the cracking noise. “It’s set.”

Her arm burned like fire. Alinta held back a cry as the arm was put back into place and she found herself clenching her fists as the teen finished wrapping everything up. “You always carry ointment and bandages?” She managed once things seemed to calm down, the burning sensation dulled by the cooling ointment.

“Yes.” Replied Xylia without hesitation. “My Oban mother is in the military and my other mother is an Aishan warrior. They both taught me how to fight but also noted that we should be prepared for any troubles.” A small smile crossed her lips. “I’ve had my fair share of market fights, you know.”
