With how late Fiona had been coming home these last few days, Breanna knew that something was amiss. Despite her strong work ethic, her twin wasn’t one to stay late; not that there was ever any reason for her to unless she wanted ice time when nobody was around. But that was not the case, at least not today.
All the lights were off and the rink was closed on time.
This kind of behavior from Fiona made no sense. Usually, she was the diplomatic one, and yet here they were, the scales tipped so heavily into discord that one could no longer see the other with how far apart they were. It was one thing to be non-confrontational and another thing altogether to ghost someone, especially if that ‘someone’ was their own sister.
Feeling a huge sense of hopelessness, Eleonora stood atop the building and looked up at the few stars that peaked through the semi-cloudy sky. “Starlight star bright, frist star I see tonight, I wish I may, I wish I might. Make this wish I wish tonight…” Please make my sister see reason, I can only try so much before even I’ll give up…

Oh no.
Starlight hadn’t known he wasn’t alone until he was partly through powering up in an alley he thought was totally unoccupied. He felt her energy signature and was grateful that it was an Order Senshi and not some Negaverse General nearby, but he nearly fell over when her energy signature hit him.
That was so irresponsible, if someone had seen him, if he’d gotten in trouble–
He didn’t want to make Nick or Arias worry, and poor Leah, and–
Even the warmth from his uniform didn’t chase away the dizzying chill of fear at the idea of messing up.
So, he did the most rational thing, and tried to play it off like that was totally intentional.
“...Hello? Who’s out here?”
He couldn’t see anyone in the alley but they were so close. Where were they–on the roof? In this chill?

The sudden appearance of a signature nearby startled the hell out of Eleonora as she had been gazing up at the stars. Tensed at the thought of it being an agent but soon dismissed the idea when she realized it belonged to a knight, or whatever the rank was that floated between Athene's eternal senshi aura and her own. For years Alcor had venomously rejected the idea of powering up which inadvertently denied Ele the chance to really speak to one of them or learn much about their partnering faction... Assuming that was even a thing. Aside from the code piece they retrieved from the Dark Kingdom she knew nothing about any of them. Even so, there was no time like the present to introduce oneself, and so, after taking a short moment to compose herself, the Senshi of heat walked towards the edge of the roof, propped her elbows on the short retaining wall, and glanced downward. “Just me,” She replied with a welcoming smile and a small wave.

Starlight breathed a sigh of relief.
Okay, she seemed nice. Or maybe his standards were really just low. “You startled me,” he said, because he was trying to be more honest, even if it didn’t feel quite right. Being honest meant being vulnerable and he didn’t want to give anyone the power to hurt him.
“I didn’t see you, I came down here because I thought no one else was around. I’m pretty lucky you weren’t in the Negaverse, I’ll have to be more careful. I’m Starlight, um. Of Polaris. What are you doing up there, is that a thing Senshi, or…? Is it dangerous down here?”
…Was she stargazing?

“Starlight?” Head canted to one side curiously, the fabric from her headband shifted and fell over one shoulder. She seemed no less than puzzled as if she were trying to parse out some divine mystery. “As in the Knight of that star?” she pointed up at the North Star just in case she hadn’t heard him correctly. No way… she did not just say a childish prayer-like thing and suddenly he showed up. The irony of it all was too coincidental to be made up. But still… really?

“Uh, I don’t know,” he confessed. “I’ve never been to my wonder. I’ve been meaning to go but I’m still kinda new to this whole Knight business. I think it sort of settled in when I got promoted. But that was just last month. I’m not making excuses,” he said, but–maybe he was.
He was just busy. He was trying to make sure he was okay. When he’d first awakened, he’d been afraid he was going to get kicked out and wind up homeless. He was trying to make ends meet and have a plan for himself. Then, he’d found Whisler–gotten adopted. Grown a business.
Or, part of one. He was really working out of Arias’ bakery but they’d given him the opportunity to market himself through them, and it had worked out well for all of them!
“Sorry,” he added quickly, worried that she might think he was zoning out or ignoring her.
“Why, were you making a wish?”

“Ah, umm…” Eleonora sighed feeling a bit apprehensive about sharing what was going on but at the moment she was at a complete loss on what to do. “Eh, my sister and I got into a fight the day those aliens arrived. She didn’t want anything to do with them and I, well… I was more than a little bit curious.” Kind of an understatement but there was nobody here to contradict her words. “While I’m more than willing to talk things out, my twin has a tendency of detaching herself from uncomfortable situations. So much so that I couldn’t even pin her down at work.” An annoyed roll of her eyes and a quiet humph sound followed that last statement. “She’s been venomously against powering up for years and yet because she keeps avoiding me, here I am…” Perhaps it was to get Fiona’s attention, or maybe it was that she felt like it was her responsibility to make sure that Alcor wasn’t hanging out with those corrupted individuals. Seeing her sister start to turn into a monster had left a lasting impression and it was her worry that some of that chaos still remained because it wasn’t like them to not talk for this long. "Sorry, T-M-I. What about you, why are you out and about this late at night?"

Starlight nodded sympathetically, despite not being able to imagine what it was like to be so close to someone and have a fight. He didn’t have any siblings, he’d not grown up around someone who he could have ever had that bond with. But, she seemed to care a lot about it, and he cared about that.
Even if he wasn’t sure that he could do anything about it.
“It’s not too much information, I asked,” he reassured. “I’m sorry that you aren’t getting along. What’s her name, maybe I can keep an eye out for her? I mean, it’s not much, but…I don’t think it’s ever a bad thing to have someone looking out for you. Especially if you’re worried. Um–I mean, I snuck out. Or! I’m not a hooligan or anything. I just needed a little fresh air. And I didn’t want to ask for more dinner so I was just running out to get some, and–I don’t know. I felt something weird on the way back so I just thought it might be safer. I don’t want to get jumped by a youma.”
He was talking too quickly, but he was a little nervous.
“I don’t come out alone a lot, so I guess I was just trying to be careful. I’m still only a new Squire, I don’t really know what I can do yet.”

“You don’t know what you can do yet?” Eleonora looked down at him, brows furrowed and expression twisted into something of disbelief. “I’m confused. Didn’t the mauvian tell you when you awoke?” Wasn’t that their responsibility? To make sure that their charges were well informed.

Starlight stared at her for a few seconds and then blinked. "A Mauvian? No, um. I was just--there was a youma attacking me. And I just--I don't know, honestly. It was just me. Oh! And another Polaris Knight showed up, but I just picked up a paintbrush. Do you want to come down here? --Should I come up there?" he asked.
It wasn't that he minded being down here, he was just worried that he might draw someone's attention if they kept calling back and forth.
"But the Knight--Whisler--he's been guiding me. I got lucky to find him, though. I guess Knights work differently, maybe? Or I could try to find a Mauvian. I didn't think to look for one."

“Oh…” Suddenly embarrassed because for some reason her mind thought that this whole rapunzel way of talking was somehow normal. Her atop a building and the… well… the man she had quite literally been wishing to… for - wow that’s confusing! Anywho, STARLIGHT stood below her. “I’ll come down, one moment.” Rather than holding onto the hem of her skirt and jumping down, Eleonora walked to the adjacent side of the building and used the fire escape ladder instead. Took a moment longer, but for posterity’s sake, she felt it was necessary. “Sorry,” she apologized just before rounding the corner to rejoin the Page. “So, let me get this straight. You didn’t need a cat to awaken you? It just kinda happened on your own?” Fascinating if that was true. “How did you know your name without being told?”

Starlight had waited for her; he chewed on his lip, smoothed out his uniform, rocked on his heels, and then seemed to perk up when he saw her again–at ground level. He approached her so she didn’t have to walk all the way.
“I just sort of felt it.” He held up his paintbrush. “This was smaller, back then. But–this sounds so ridiculous to say, I’m sorry. One day it was just, different. I didn't really notice, but it’s like. I think my power is tied to this, not a Mauvian. I guess it feels like intuition? If I hadn’t had another Knight there with me, I would have thought I was crazy, to be honest. Lost my mind.”
He might have been okay to say that he was a bad Knight, but Whisler wasn’t. He knew he’d given him all the information he had, and Starlight had never felt like he was led astray by it.
“All of this is pretty wild, huh? I’m sorry, I didn’t quite catch your name. What should I call you?”

“Ah, sorry.” Embarrassed that she didn’t introduce herself earlier she looked down, staring at some piece of gum that had long since been spit on the ground and stepped on multiple times, in shame. “My full name is Eleonora, but you can call me Ele if it’s easier to remember. I’m the Senshi of Heat.” Sometimes the uniform made spheres obvious, in her case… not so much. “Liryn was the mauvian who awakened me. I suppose he is my Whisler.” Not that a cat and a knight are comparable but in terms of guiding and supporting their roles were similar. “Unfortunately, even though I awoke a few years ago, I haven’t really had much in the way of opportunity to talk to Knights before now. I mean, I knew that there were several of you out there but the only time I ever see any of you is when some catastrophic event is about to destroy the city.” Not to sound melodramatic but that was often the case be is shadow dogs or that big wispy creature thing. Big moments brought them together but oftentimes they dispersed just as quickly.

“Ele sounds cute,” he said, but then seemed to worry that maybe that was a weird thing to say so he added, “I can call you that if you like. Um. I like your sphere. I bet that comes in handy when the weather’s like this?”
Was he stalling? Was he just being weird? UGH.
He shook his head and stood up straighter. “Sorry, I don’t know why I’m so on edge. I really want to meet a Mauvian, though. I’m kinda afraid I would just try to pet them. So it’s probably best that Knights don’t need one. I don’t really know many Senshi, either, but I’m happy I met you. Especially since we get to talk, I feel like that’s like impossible around here. I mean–do you want to walk and talk? I don’t know if you were out to patrol or anything, but I’d like that. Maybe we could keep the city a little safer and chat along the way?”
Not that this alley wasn’t charming, but…

A light blush swept across her cheeks when he commented that her name sounded cute then complimented her sphere. It felt nice and his nervous way of bouncing from one point to the next served as a wonderful distraction from her earlier musing. “We can walk and talk,” with a joyful tone she offered a genuine smile. “And… if you’d like, I can talk with Liryn later and see if he would be willing to meet up. Give you an opportunity to ask any questions you may have?” She didn’t think he’d have to worry about the petting part, her favorite Mauvian let her hold him often enough that she felt like he wouldn’t mind.
