Prompt 5 (Ice Bath): Rainfall is rare in Destiny City during Winter; there have been a few light showers between the occasional snow but it’s never been enough to be significant. In some places, it’s just enough for a thin layer of ice to cover the ground and make it a little slippery, but ultimately it’s not enough to worry about. In an inconspicuous place in town, you step into one of these icy puddles and the thin layer of ice shatters. The hole itself seems maybe three feet wide and if you’ve ever been in the area before you know it’s just a pothole a few inches deep at most. Except, when the ice shatters, you fall, plummeting into it as if it were a lake of icy water. It’s pitch black around you and only pale blue lights shimmer above you. The darkness is never ending and you can’t make out the details of anything except the shrinking hole above you. Maybe you remember how to swim and pull yourself out, maybe you black out and feel someone else pulling you out--either way, your frozen, soaking body is pulled from the puddle. The chill is immense, but if you look at the hole after being pulled out, all you can see is the ground below. There’s no sign that what you just experienced is real--except for the fact that you’re still soaking wet.

Christmas time was supposed to be a time of snow and wonderful flurries. The time of snow angels, snowmen, and snowball fights! Except this week wasn't really working out that way at all. The weather channel had only been forecasting and it was driving her slightly crazy. Who wanted cold and rain, that was never the Christmas combo that anyone asked for!

Though today as Amity looked out the window all she could see was the peace after the storm. Not a single droplet insight as she held back the bright silk red curtains. She sat on the wooden bench by her large white framed house window. She listened to see if any noise could be heard. With her left ear towards the window, all she could hear was silence. For the first time probably ever she was thrilled to not hear anything! It was the best noise of no noise ever. Since it had been raining for a few days now and all her music had been drowned out by the rain. All she wanted was to venture out into the fresh and feel the pavement below her feet. Now she finally got her chance to run out into the cold outdoors! She was so happy that the rain had finally stopped, or well at least for the moment the rain was nowhere in sight. Since all day she had longed to venture outside her huge house.

Quickly Amity rushed up the wooden stairs of her mansion, and quickly she threw open the door to her room. She ran to her closet and grabbed the first outfit she could find. A cute pair of brown boots with fur, a long jacket the cutest color of blue, some black fur leggings, and a long-sleeved white knitted dress. Oh, and to top it off she threw on a cute white knitted pom-pom hat. As soon as she finished throwing it all on, she closed her door to her room and raced down the wooden stairs. As she reached the final step she almost slipped. Feeling her life flash before her eyes, she reached her right arm out. and grabbed the stairway railing. Pulling herself to her feet again she smiled as she saw a nearby butler looking at her with a laugh. "Hello!" she said to them with a smile as she went to exit the mansion door.

Stepping out that door she felt a slight chill hit her bones. She was glad she dressed warmly now. "Now where to go," she thought as she headed down the road by her house. As she looked around she suddenly got caught up in the cold air and beautiful looking houses all decorated for Christmas. This was always one of her favorite holidays with how it shined so brightly.

All of a sudden as she was captivated by the lights, she felt her feet slip from under her. One crack at a time, and then another. She knew that if she moved even an inch she might see her lights flash before her eyes. At first, it felt like a normal slip just light when she would fall and hit her knee, but then she could feel the road cracking beneath her. As if an earthquake was opening the blacktopped road and she was its prisoner. Nowhere to go and nothing to do. All she could do was let it take her into the dark. So she did what she could and screamed! "What, no...no..." she screamed as she tried to scramble to stand. As soon as she got her footing and was about to step off, crack! The ice fell apart beneath her and with that, her body plummeted downward. As she landed she felt covered in icy water. Shivering she knew she had to fight. After all, she had a recital tomorrow and nothing was going to keep her away from competing. The music she created was meant for others to hear, and if she seized to exist so one would ever her stories. With the thought of her gifts and dreams being wasted it was as if life sprung into her cold, wet, and chilled bones. A fire had risen within her and it was giving her just enough strength to continue forward. No matter how dark it was, she refused to give up

Luckily she was able to stand up, She noticed some blue lights flickering above. As the water reached up to her knees she wadded towards the bright lights. All she knew was she wasn't going to freeze to death today. Maybe these lights were her way out. "Please show me the way home," she whispered as her cold and chilled body followed the lights. They grew brighter and brighter until the lights almost blinded her eyes. She was beginning to lose feelings as she covered her eyes and jumped forward into the blinding lights! She wasn't sure it would work but she had faith that the lights were guiding her home.

All of a sudden she felt her feet on the pavement again, still dripping wet, but her body had reached its breaking point. She fell to the ground tired but happy to be alive. The lights saved her or so she thought as took one glance behind her and saw nothing now lights, no water, no anything but roads and houses. As her eyelids fell she wondered if she had dreamed it all, or if it was the magic of the season. Before she could say a word she blackout... Next thing she knew she was awake in her bedroom. Clean, dry, and in her pajamas under the covers of her cozy bed. "was it all a dream?" she said as she looked around. "Well I'll never forget those lights, they were beautiful", she said as she covered herself back up since her bones still felt the chill of the water. And with that, she closed her eyes drifting off to sleep. Dream or not who could know for sure.
