[ Lucretia 1 ]
Lucretia wanted to go home. Her parents had decided to take the whole family and then some on a boat and tour some of the Kahikinain settlements. Luc was not a wanderer, she liked staying home and vacationing there as well. Her parents though wanted her to see the world and see what it had to offer her. She was not impressed. She didn’t care if it made her a bit of a snob either, she just didn’t feel any kind of need to see the world when she had everything, she wanted right at home. And yet here she was, shopping because her mother had sent her out for some fresh air.

[ Moani 1 ]
Moani was apprenticing with a few merchants and today they were with one who sold some fancy fabrics. They’d chosen the fancier merchants to be able to scope out some of the baubles and treasures some of them liked to carry. It was like being in a vantage point and be able to make connections at the same time. They planned on working their way towards the more treasure-oriented merchants but they had to start somewhere.
“Hi miss!” Moani said as they caught sight of a lightning Earthling. “Can I propose some fabrics for you to bring back home?” As much as they liked to ogle the treasure, they also had a job to do.

Lucretia paused at the stand and swept her eyes on the fabrics the Kahi had presented her with. The fabric was beautiful, different shades of beige that reminded her of the beach with a wave pattern. She was sure that it had been the intention, but she was looking for baubles to bring back her friends, not fabric for a new dress.
“I’m not looking for fabrics today.” Luc said before moving on. There was one thing she had to give the Kahi was that they were quite the craftspeople and a lot of the items were handmade and well done.

Moani was persistent though and so they smiled at the girl before putting the fabric away.
“If you’re not looking for a fabric, perhaps I could help you with something else? I know all the merchants very well.” And maybe they could take a small break too, they were due for one anyway. This Earthling looked quite fancy as well, so perhaps she’d be interested in some pricey ticket items and Moani would get to browse along with her. It would be a win win for the both of them as long as the Earthling decided to take a total stranger with her.

“Are you some kind of swindler? I will have you know I won’t be an easy target.” Lucretia looked at the Kahi unimpressed, was this how they received people?
If she thought she could somehow get some coins out of her or something, it wasn’t happening. Now she was just even more annoyed and just wanted to go back home. She knew her mother wouldn’t allow her back on the boat though, not with all the whining she’d been doing lately. Luc sighed, she was going to have to be more careful and hope the trip ended sooner rather than later.

“What?!” Moani’s eyes grew big. “No of course not! I was just trying to help. I’ve apprenticed with quite a few of the merchants here already and I was just being nice.” Had they really come off as someone who would steal? Was it their clothing? Moani didn’t think she looked dishevelled or like someone of that nature.
“I was just looking for an excuse to get a break too.” They admitted because it really hurt to think someone thought they’d tried to swindle them or something. “I promise I just wanted to help is all.” Well they were going to take a break anyway and hide for a bit until the embarrassment went away.

Okay maybe Lucretia had been a tiny bit of a not so nice person when she’d accused the Kahi. Maybe she could just relent and allow them to help her. If she’d apprenticed with a few of the merchants, then they knew where to go and where to find the best bargains.
“Alright, anyway I’m just looking for some small bargain gifts for friends. Nothing big and nothing fancy.” Luc gave her a small head nod to follow her.
“How did you get started as an apprentice anyway? I thought merchants liked to keep it in the family.” The ones she knew at least had that train of thought.

“I know exactly where to go!” Moani gave her a smile before moving back into the stall to find its owner.
“I’m going to take a small break.” The man nodded and waved them off. Moani moved back around the stall to stand by the Earthling.
“I’m Moani by the way,” the began, “And I won’t be a merchant, I’m going to be a treasure hunter. But it’s good to make a connection with the others and see where they tend to get their wares and such. So for now I am getting some good coin and learning another side of the trade before I begin my travels.” Moani paused. “What about you? What brought you here?”

“Lucretia.” This one was certainly quite talkative.
“I’m here on a family vacation. We’ve been docking our boats here and there.” Luc was about to stop at a stall but Moani motioned for her to continue so she did.
“What was wrong with that place? They had cute hair clips.” She wanted to go very simplistic and minimalist for the gifts she was bringing back. There hadn’t seemed to be anything wrong with that merchant. Maybe she had made a mistake asking someone to help her with this task, she still didn’t full trust Moani to take her to trustworthy merchants.

“I promise you I am not trying to swindle you,” Moani said when they saw the look Lucretia gave them. “That merchant tends to use broken things and not piece them back together very well. If you’d bought anything from him, it wouldn’t have lasted your voyage back home.” They glanced at one stand in particular and knew exactly where to take her.
“This one though,” Moani began as she waved to the merchant. “I know for a fact has good items for a good price. Also, the pearls are just nicer.” They’d helped clean some of the pearls, so they knew exactly what kind of quality the merchant offered.

Lucretia made another face but focused on the stand. The merchant had all manners of things laid out which all had pearls to accentuate. The pearls were also of all ranges of colors and Lucretia found herself being very impressed really. She was probably going to buy herself a pearl necklace in one of the light orangey tones, so she grabbed the one she liked and put it aside. She also picked up a comb with some pale blue pearls and a brooch with some regular-colored pearls. The price she also found reasonable, so she was very pleased.
“That was a nice place,” Luc smiled at Moani.

“Seeeeeeee,” Moani said as they smiled back. “Not trying to rip you off. I really do know where I am going. What else do you want to buy? I know another place which has a bunch of just random crafted items of that’s something you’re looking for.” Moani headed towards there anyway because there were a few merchants around that part which had some good items.
“When are you returning home?” For Luc’s sake, Moani hoped it was soon. She didn’t really seem to be enjoying her vacation here. Moani wondered why, they personally couldn’t wait to see and explore the world!

“My parents said in three weeks. It’s their once a year vacation and they said they wouldn’t be rushed no matter how unhappy I am.” All of her other siblings were so happy to be out and about because it meant they could get away from their parents and their expectations. Lucretia thought they were all weak for it, she actually had fun when she was practicing and such. You didn’t build an empire by just fooling around either.
“Have you traveled the world? I never see the appeal of it so I am curious.” Luc promised herself she wasn’t stepping foot off Belrea ever again if she could help it.

“Oh I most definitely want to see the world!” How could she not want to? “You seem so uninterested, have you been around the world?” Perhaps she had seen everything she wanted and was now bored? Was that even possible? From what Moani had heard, those of her kind hadn’t met up with the rest of Tendaji for a while or at least had done so “recently”. They didn’t even know if that was in Lucretia’s lifetime.
“Here’s another vendor you might find something.” This one had accessories like belts and hats which the Earthlings seemed to like quite a bit.

“No I have not, but I just don’t feel the need to. Tendaji is a lot less advance than Belrea and then there’s this place. It’s just not for me. I’m not adventurous and my ambitions have nothing to do with seeing the world.” And she didn’t understand the appeal.
“I can see why you’d be interested though,” Lucretia said as she picked up a few items to observe them. Belts were right up her alley for gifts but some of these weren’t really the right design. So she moved away after looking over those initial items which had caught her attention.
