Theriar 1
It was a few months after the pirates had stolen his ship and he was slowly making headway. Currently he was looking for odd jobs to make extra coin while there was a bit of a seasonal lull in fishing. As it turned out on this particular day and odd job found him. He noticed a figure on the dock that was tall and feellered but definitely male. Good looking chap, Theriar chuckled to himself.

He was in search of a boat to take him out to sea to inspect some small islands and islets for rare herbs and plantlife. He was making a map of where to find them so he could harvest sustainable. Rare herbs could sell for quite a lot And he wanted to learn more of the botany of these plants, so that he didn't inadvertantly put them in danger and to see if he could grow them with the help of green magic at home. He saw someone who he was quite excited to talk to, a fellow hybrid, but he was was not water like himself. Cool! Someone new.

Theriar 2 If he really knew what was good for him he would travel for a bit before he settled back down to fishing. He might be able to make more coin faster if eh could perform a job for someone inland. Though the thought of being away from the sea again for any length of time made him feel a little nauseous. That last trip hadn't cured him of his curiosity like he had thought. Maybe he could sail and find odd jobs that way instead. Hmm.

Syaaryn 2 He finally made it to the ship to ask if the fellow might want a job for a few days.
"Hello sir, my name is Syaaryn and I was hoping to get a ride ot to a few islands to take a look at the plant life. I'm looking for rare herbs to collect, sell and maybe hopefully propagate one day. I can pay, its not much but there will be a bonus if we find enough plants."

Theriar 3 "Hmm I'm listening, come aboard and we will hash out the details over a snack. You look hungry." One caught more flies with honey as the saying went and all of that.
Besides most really tall people seemed to have big apetites.
They snacked and had some tea then settled on a fair price. They were on their way to sea in a short amount of time.

Syaaryn 3 When they came upon the first island it was with clear weather. A small island chain in a lazy arc pierced the slapping sea. When he finally rached the long beach he was surprised to see numnerous prickly plants lining the beach where the rocks were not soaked by the salty seawater. Small animals scurried away from his feet, seeming unlike him to take delight in their thorny fortresses. There wasn't much for vegetation so he wasn't hopeful. He scratched away with a quill and ink, in a small leather journal that was a royal purple in color.

Theriar 4 Theriar didn't much like the look of all the prickle bushes and he pitied Syaa for needing to go all the way into the interior of the island. This one boasted sandy beaches, hull piercing rock spires and fresh island views, thus they had moored his boat offshore and had taken the smaller rowboat to make land on the shore. He chose to wait on the beach while his benefactor fought with the brambles.

He came back from his trip to the interior and looked a sorry sight. He winced as he bathed the multitude of new cuts.
"Well that was shear misery, I feel sorry for anyone marooned here, the plants just get scarier the further in you go. I have no doubt that they would find a way to eat me."
When he was clean and freshly stinging all over, he got back into the rowboat, "Next please." Yup he was bleeding mildly from a few scratches.

Theriar 5 The sea had calmed to an almost unnatural glassiness. Great pieces of driftwood lined the beach and he appropriated a particularly fine piece to make a table out of later. Short of that the rest of the plants seemed to be struggling somehow. He wondered what could be affecting them, maybe there was something nasty in the soil. Ew. Add to that there were poisonous fish resting in the shallows and mud he could see the bright warning fins. “Mind your footing there are venomous fish on the bottom.”

Syaa was disappointed to find that this island supported nothing but sick trees and no rare plants whatsoever. They left the island and its small group of sentinel rocks to seek more verdant foliage elsewhere.
A small squall greeted them on approach to the third island. This one out of them all so far seemed the most promising. His heart raced along with hope. All he could see was trees.

Theriar 6 He was getting bored on the boat and this new island was part of a much nicer looking island chain. He stepped out onto the beach, it was bordered by thick lush vegetation, completely different from the last sad island. He poked around in the understory and crawled a little way inland, it was a lot of layers going on at once. Something slithered by him. "Syaaryn, did you know there were snakes out here?" He didn't remember.

Syaaryn 6 "Snakes?" Syaa yelled back at him. "No I don't think I knew there were snakes out here, why did you find one? Maybe there was a keldari shipment that had failed. Stranger things have happened out here. Or so I have heard."
He had not seen any snakes but he had found a little spotted leaf that was as familiar as the back of his hand. "Hello spot leaf, do you have friends?" He cut a stalk or two off, along with a side branch, the tip of which he kept in a small soft bundle of damp moss tied in place.
"I got one! But its pretty lonely, so we should move on."

The next island had an overpopulation of sharks and snaptrotter fishing in the shallows. He was more than content to lean over the rail, ignore his passenger, and watch the graceful dance of predators as they worked an ever changing bait ball of fish which were all desperately trying to avoid predators. It was poetry in motion. He felt that he might like to write a poem about it later and took down some sketches of the underwater theater into his captains log book.

He smiled to see someone else completely engroosed in nature. It looked like Theriar preferred to watch nature that could move and flow, as opposed to plants which were quite sedentary. At least he was interested deeply in something to do with nature. It made Syaa feel more connected to the boat captain.
The storm had abated to clouds as he walked on the fourth island's gravel shore. The island was mostly barren barring a few common plants. Quite boring.

He was actually having a wonderful time. This was as good as fishing in pay and this came built in with its own entertainment with the young lad marching up all the beaches determined not to let these small but wild islands kick his butt. It was nice to just enjoy sailing for a change without worrying about nets and fishing seasons, migrations, nets, lines, ect.
Maybe he should take breaks from fishing like this more often, some adventure for the soul. He felt really good for a chance. Of course he was in good company.
