Takes place after What choice but simple duty

His team was slowly coming together. Actually, it was coming together a lot faster than anything else he’d ever done before. They didn’t have time to work out details, they would just have to compile information as they obtained it. Cymophane was still working on it, but had been told to hold back for the time being, if only to give them a chance to prepare for a counter offensive.

So far he had Aquamarine (of course, because he would probably be nothing without Aquamarine -- he was the one who saved him when the White Moon took him captive), Faustite (who was always a bit volatile, but he’d run plenty of missions before and understood what a team was meant to be, from what Jet could tell), Lopezite (who had been thankfully easy to work with and agreed to help without a fight), and Prehnite (who thankfully eventually shut up enough to let Jet escape his office). He would talk to Faustite about his thoughts on Albite, but other than that, he just had one other in mind.

“Captain Bloodstone,” Jet greeted, standing up from his desk when Bloodstone knocked and entered the office. “Thank you for coming. I wanted to ask for your help with something,” he started, gesturing to one of the chairs in front of the desk for the Captain to take a seat if he would like.

He’d requested to meet with Bloodstone just shortly after talking to Lopezite, but since he knew the Captain was a doctor, he figured his schedule could likely be a problem. Luckily he was able to get him to come to Negaspace soon after his meeting with Prehnite blessedly ended.

“The White Moon has something that might prevent us from being able to teleport or summon our weapons… possibly more… I’m putting together a team,” he explained as Bloodstone shook his head at the offer of a seat, but stood at attention regardless. “I need people to come in and keep whoever is with Ganymede from helping her because we’re going to try and capture her for the Queen.”

“Okay,” Bloodstone replied, and it sounded so confident that Jet had to pause and stare at the doctor for a few moments.

“Okay? That’s… that’s all?”

“You need a team. I’ll help. I might be on call so you’ll need to let me know when.”

“Oh… I mean, I’m not sure when--”

That response received a small sigh from Bloodstone, but he nodded regardless.

“Then just let me know,” Bloodstone said, and made as thought he was going to turn and leave.

“Wait, you don’t need any more information? You don’t want to know my life history--”

“Ilian Jones. Your parents died in a car accident when you were young. You are known as a piano prodigy. Your spouse is Lovett Leigh Belrose--”

“Wait, wait, woah,” Jet cringed, especially after the use of Lovely’s full name. “You just… know all that about me?” he sputtered in disbelief, wondering how the heck Bloodstone got a hold of that information. “And don’t ever call him Lovett. He hates that.”

Bloodstone paused for a moment and then turned back to face Jet. “My Lieutenant, Roselite, was given the task of looking up information of people I am interested in recruiting. It turns out my acquaintance is Aquamarine’s brother--”

“Which brother?” Jet paled, because both were bad, but one significantly worse than the other.

“Dorian--”

“Oh okay…” That was better than Claude at least, but still bad. Jet shook his head. “But. How did you figure all that out? You don’t have access to mine or Aqua’s files… do you?” he asked, a little concerned that maybe because Bloodstone was a doctor that he had more information?

It turned out, that was sort of the case.

“The same time Aquamarine received certain injuries, Lovely Belrose would end up at the hospital with similar injuries. I believe there was a report about Aquamarine being injured by a Princess Polaris at some point,” Bloodstone said.

Jet frowned again, because he remembered how Aqua had stepped in front of him to protect him. He’d been terrified that the injury had been serious enough to kill Aqua. Thankfully a starseed and Cinnabar’s aid had kept him from that fate, but it still gave him nightmares.

“Don’t recruit Dorian, that’s a horrible idea,” was all Jet could think to say after that. The response from Bloodstone was… nothing. He just looked at Jet as though he was waiting for a moment to leave. And when Jet said nothing, Bloodstone did.

“I’m going to bring one of my other recruits when the time comes. Lieutenant Carnallite.”

“Uh, I’d prefer only those who can teleport,” Jet made another face, because he was wondering if he should start regretting asking Bloodstone for help.

“She’s good for it.”

“I’d really rather not.”

Bloodstone didn’t respond this time, but the look on his face might as well have said I’m going to do what I want.

“Let me know when you need me,” Bloodstone said and turned on his heel to the door.

Jet stared at the man’s back as he left, wondering if they were all doomed, or if they were somehow going to pull this off in some epic way.

And then he remembered about Dorian and groaned and slumped back down into his chair. Aquamarine was going to be pissed. Maybe he just wouldn't tell him.
