As he patrolled, he stopped to greet people, sort out disputes and talk to other officers to discuss the day's events. Afterwards he moved on.
A young girl raced up to him. She had to be six or younger. "Officer, officer!" Her mother turned in horror to see that her daughter was gone. He waved the little girl's mother to let her know the child was in good hands, and the mother sighed and walked over. He smiled at the young girl, "How can I help you, young lady? Your mother is looking for you."
"I saw a speck of gold over there in the alley and heard a groan. I think there's a bank robber back there." The little girl chattered at him. He frowned and looked at her mother, who gave him an apologetic look, "I apologize Officer, she's always telling stories." He nodded and they left. He sighed, whether it was a child telling stories or not, it had to be checked out.
He contacted his mentor, who he thought was nearest him, and offered, "Unplausible report of something shiny and a man's groan from alley, from a little girl. Just checking it out."
Carefully, he worked his way into the alleyway and did indeed spy a gold sparkle behind the dump. He stopped and called for his mentor to back him up. Just in case. "Requesting backup. Unplausible report from before is starting to check out."
On high alert for danger, he stepped around the dumpster and ... was not ready for the sight he saw. A young man, just barely younger than himself lay unconscious in the snow. He was in bad shape obviously, but that wasn't the worse part.
The young man's skin glittered like gold; his lips (though pale now) gleamed like good. Furthermore, he was wearing what could only described as an Ancient Egyptian Sarong- something like what he wore on occasion. The young man was definitely an alien.
"Oh Cauldron," He whispered.
