Prompt 2 (Paint the Night Sky): Destiny City has already had its fair share of snowfall but for the past week it’s just been constant. There hasn’t been a clear sky in days, and even when it’s not snowing it’s still too cloudy to see anything. Finally, one night, the clouds have finally thinned--only to reveal something more surprising than the suddenly good weather. A glorious display of colorful light dances over Destiny City. Auroras are uncommon in this area, but it’s something unique to see. Especially because it almost seems like the colors blend like watercolors, and look like they’re deliberately weaving around each other.
The snow had been coming down for days, not heavy enough to completely bury the city of course but off and on until every thing had been layered down. It had been fun to play in during the times the snow had stopped but the fact that the clouds had stayed in the sky the entire time had been a bit of a let down. Joanna had spent some of the nights bouncing between the different rooftops but none of the stars could be seen during that time at all. Not that it had affected her energy gathering during those times but still it was nice to stare at them while waiting on the mirror wraiths to come back.
Now however the clouds were finally cleared up and the night sky could be seen in it's splendor, or at least what could be seen thanks to the light pollution of the city. Joanna had headed to one of the nearby parks even to be able to get a better look just before sunset to help out but hadn't expected much out of it other then blocking a bit of the light out of her eyes. But then the sun set in the west and the sky truly lit up.
Bright blue eyes widened in wonder as the sky became covered in a sea of colors that waved across the horizon and back. Every where she looked the aurora lit the world up whether it was the sky above or the snow covered ground below. The snow itself was reflecting all of the colors back and when she moved to a nearby pond the ice looked like it was a portal to the heavens. She did of course take some pictures and recordings of the phenomena but when she looked back at them later they would pale in comparison to being there in person.
Several hours of playing around in the park, including making snow people that reached towards the stars for her amusement, Joanna finally headed back home. Once she was back at the house she took a shower to warm up, having been absolutely freezing thanks to the hours spent outside in the snow, then made herself some hot cocoa and settled down in front of her bedroom window. She sat there just watching the sky and occasionally sipping her drink, letting her thoughts wonder and not settle on any particular topic.
It was on nights like these that she felt a bit remorseful to being a mirror Senshi, unable to travel to the stars like the order Senshi apparently was able to, the mirror world was cool but it wasn't the same. Hours later when she was snuggled down in her bed trying to fall asleep the remorse was once again gone, after all she was impossibility and even if she couldn't touch the stars right now she would find a way some day, of this she had little doubt. And maybe on that day she would be able to see aurora's on other planets.
