Ilsa looked up into the trees above and felt her lower lip quiver. It felt like ages since she'd been pushed into the old trapper's pit by her 'friends' and left to find her own way back. Thankfully the youngling had only suffered minor bruising and scraps, but since there wasn't much to pull herself up with she was truly stuck.

A part of her wanted to cry out, but what was the point? Even if she did a passing huntress might leave once they found out who it was or worse...she could attract a predator...You can do this. She'd only tried to climb out a dozen times already so...what was another dozen? Her hands shook from exhaustion so digging into the soft earth was difficult, but she could see it, the ground around her-

-only to cry out as soon as her footing failed and she was tossed back into the pit.

[ Zayana 1 ]

Zayana was wandering through the forest near the isles, not quite ready to make her way toward the great tree that shrowded the lands in a soft shadow. Nayyara was off doing who knows what, probably getting a lay of the land or meeting the local earthlings, and Zuella was more accustomed to the space and probably visiting friends. That left the Elarian Warrior to hunt through the trees, attempting to recall her old lessons from ages past.

If only Lumikani or Zandala were here to remind her of what to hunt, what to avoid, and how to be successful. Unfortunately, she was on her own, and so she wandered.

It wasn't long until she was near the location of Ilsa, and her maternal instincts caused her to start when she heard the young cry. Surprised, she looked around until she caught sight of a pit, not marked clearly but there, and she approached slowly.

"Is someone here?" She called out, seeking an answer but also marking her presence so she wasn't struck by the huntress who had lain the trap.

Oh! A voice! Ilsa pressed her hands against the wall of the pit and stood up on her tip toes, as if she were somehow able to look out of her 'prison'. Her toes curled in the soggy earth that surrounded her as her anxiety started to climb. This is what she'd been hoping for, but...it was also what scared her the most. What if whoever was out there looked down into the hole, expecting to see a perfect little girl and saw her?

For a moment Ilsa was quiet as she worked up the nerve to call out. If she didn't at least try then she could be stuck there for a long, long time and her mamas' would worry..."I'm down here! Please, I need help!"

A grown Aishan may not have an issue escaping the pit, and if there were something for her to hold onto then Ilsa could have done the same, but the humidity had dampened it's walls. As a side effect the child was not only worse for wear, but filthy as well.

Who would have left a trap like this unmarked, let alone uncovered. It really did sound like some child had fallen in, possibly an earthling. It'd be worse if it were an Aishan child, which Zayana had a small suspicion. As she checked the land around the trap and confirmed it was sturdy, she looked over and down into the shadows.

To her surprise, it was a youngling with dark Elaria skin, but with green hair and deep green markings. Uncertain on how to process it, she instead focused on what to do.

"Don't worry, I'm here. Let's get you out of there. Are you hurt?"

It took Ilsa just as long - if not longer - to process what she was seeing. Going off voice alone she'd assumed the stranger would have been a woman, most likely a huntress branching out for a better hunt, but an Elarian? For the moment her anxiety was pushed aside in the wake of curiosity. She'd seen a few in her time - certainly not more than a handful - but never any that had directly spoken to her. Her eyes were just as bright as her mamas...

Ils took a few steps away from the wall so that her back pressed against the opposite side and seeing the stranger was a little easier. "I'm okay." To her definition, anyway. She'd certainly lived through worse than this. "Be careful; if you fall in too you might get stuck. I tried to climb out a couple of times but it didn't work."

Zayana hummed to herself as she considered the situation. She didn't think she was a terrible climber, but took the young girl's words into consideration none the less. Thankfully, she had a traveler's pack on her and in it was a rope. All she needed to do was secure the line, and she quickly got to work with a branch.

Satisfied with the stability, she returned back to the girl.

"Alright, I'm going to lower a line. I can help pull you up."

She threw the rope down, hoping that the girl knew at least how to hold on.

Ilsa craned her neck to watch as the Elarian moved about. At times she could see every move she made, but when she couldn't a rush of panic would steal the hybrid's heart. She isn't going to leave you; she just said she would help! And yet, what if she didn't? What if she just said that so Ilsa wouldn't start screaming and-?

She squeaked as the rope dropped down. For a moment she simply looked at it, then back up at the Elarian before finally coming to her senses and taking action.

The little one wrapped the rope around her hands a few times to get a better hold and after a few tests pulls she looked up. "I'm ready!"

Perfect. She quickly made work to pull the girl up, focusing more on the rope around the tree than the girl below. She didn't want it to snap, so she could only hope that the young girl had a good grip and she wasn't pulling too hard. It had been awhile since she was around younglings, and so she was second guessing herself a bit as she pulled and tugged.

Eventually, the rope where the girl was holding made it up to the edge of the hole, so Zayana called out, "Once you are high enough, start to swing yourself to the edge. I wont be able to catch you and hold the rope, but I'll make sure the rope is secure...so swing as hard as you can and you'll need to jump once you're over the ground. Ready? Let's Go!"

Then, she did one last pull to lift the girl high up, hoping she wouldn't slip.

The little hybrid did her best to help by digging her toes into whatever crevices she could find and propelling her body upward. It wasn't much, especially considering the slick nature of the pit's walls, but at least to her it meant she wasn't entirely helpless. Her hands, already sore from previous escape attempts, were practically screaming by the time she saw land, but Ilsa didn't care. If it meant she could get out then she'd gladly withstand it!

Ilsa used her contact with the pit wall to push herself back and get a decent swing going. Once she was up high enough the momentum helped to bring her over the ground just enough for the girl to feel safe enough to let go.

Her landing wasn't graceful by any means; Ilsa landed hard on her side with a loud 'omph!' and rolled a bit before her body finally stilled.

[ Zayana 5 ]

As soon as Ilsa let go and jumped, Zayana let go of the rope and let it drift a bit. It wouldn't fall all the way in, but it would at least get out of the way. Then, she turned to examine the girl a bit more keenly, and realized the girl indeed had Elaria skin with the pink fade, but Alkidike hair and markings. She was a hybrid, she had to be a hybrid, and Zayana found herself a bit at a loss of words.

She hadn't heard about this during her travels, this news must have been kept close to the Aishans of this isle, which meant it was very new. Had she known, had her sisters and parents known, she was sure many would have joined them on their visit...especially the Elaria they left behind on Zinris.

"Good job." She said with a warm voice, moving closer and bending her knees into a crouch, "You alright now?"

Ilsa rolled herself over onto her hands and knees with a grunt. Her dreads had come loose from their tie and hung heavy around her shoulders, weighed down with moisture and muck. When she rocked back to sit on her haunches the child pulled them over her left shoulder and fully exposed the little antennae that sprouted around her ears.

Her nervous fingers stayed wrapped around the heavy dreads, however, and twisted around them in the wake of this stranger. Something about her didn't seem right; like, she wasn't the same as her mama and that.... "Are you like me?" Ilsa blurted, and once the reality of what she'd asked hit her eyes widened. "S-sorry, I shouldn't have...I just...your dreads..."

[ Zayana 6 ]

Her brows furrowed at the sudden question, before Zayana rolled on her heels and let herself land on her behind, sitting in a sort of crossed legged pose. So this was something very unique...and she wasn't too surprised that the girl hadn't seen many Elaria. Her own mother had warned her this leg of the journey would be difficult...not dangerous...just tense.

"I'm an Elaria." she said simply with a shrug, "But...I'm not sure I'd quite describe myself as like you. You're very...unique."

"Mama Ayona is an Elaria too, but her dreads don't look like yours. Hers are all red." She brought her legs underneath her in an attempt to copy the adults pose, but when the positioning proved to be too painful on her aching limbs she settled for stretching her legs out. "Mama Kanai is an Alkidike. I've only seen one other girl like me so I thought that maybe you were too, but I think we're just....different."

She flexed her muddy toes and watched as her pink tipped digits flicked little bits of muck back into the world. "Are you from Zinris? Or did you bloom from Aisha too?"

[ Zayana 7 ]

Zayana let out a laugh at that, forgetting that her hair was multi-colored since she was so used to it. Grinning brightly, she pulled her hair around to the front and pulled some of the blues and blacks out.

"This is for my mothers, Lumikani and Zandala. They are both Alkidike sisters who traveled to Zinris and are the reason I was bloomed."

She then pulled the teal one forward, her face softening, "This is for my daughter, Nayyara, an Elidae daughter I was blessed with from the Great Mother on Kiros."

She pushed her hair around until she pulled out the dark red locks, "And these are my natural color hair, like your Mama Ayona."

Then she paused as she processed the worlds, Elaria and Alkidike.

"So you are an Aishan Hybrid...unique indeed. Oh, I am from Zinris, but I traveled with my mother and sisters across the sea and now live on Kiros protecting Esena and her daughters."

Ilsa scootched a little closer so that she could get a good look at the multi-colored dreads. So they were just dyed, then? It explained why she didn't have any other hybrid traits, but a part of Ilsa was a little saddened by it. Curious about why she'd done it, but saddened never the less.

"Your daughter is an Elidae?!" Ilsa's dark eyes widened and her attention drifted from the Elarian's face to the beautiful teal dreadlock. "Wow, that's...I've never seen an Elidae before." She'd heard a little about them from Mama Ayona, but even she didn't know that much about the newer Aishans. She'd never said anything about their dreads being that color!

Ilsa sat back a little just to process it all. "So your family is like mine. You're all mixed." There was no hiding the purity in her smile or the warmth it brought her chest. Most of the families she'd come across over the years were either pure Alkidike pairings or earthling mixes, but this...she'd never heard of anyone with such a unique lineage!

"Did you come to live here too, like Mama Ayona?" She'd mentioned a daughter, but not a partner so maybe not?
