Davie Jaimeson locked the door to the nursery behind him with the key as he went in. Standard pocedure was that he hook the keychain to his belt after that... but this morning like many mornings, he absentmindedly dropped it in the pockets of his apron, along with several planting and weeding tools, seed envelope, extra dirt, recipes, pens, paper, coins, and other little nik naks that he had picked up over time.

He went on with his work, weeding and watering the seedings and young plants, weeding and working with the dirt. He nursed those that were sick and trimmed the dead leaves, and though it might sound strange to some, he talked to them and prayed over them.

Finally, he got to the new seedlings. Trotting over to the worktable in the northwest corner of the nursery, he started pulling a jumble of things out of the pockets of his apron - he was so concentrated on his work and absentminded on other things, that he also pulled out the key to the nursery and didn't notice it. He dumped everything out on his workspace.

As he preened over and trimmed and potted and planted and watered and prayed; he kept reaching into the pile without looking and pulling out certain items to use, tools, bags of soil, seeds, pots and so forth. At some point, the key to the nursery came with a spade, and he didn't even realize it. Down it went in to the soil with the Seedling and never heard from again. After he finished his work, he got up and brushed off, proud of a day's work in the nursery. He cleaned up, put everything away, and started to get ready to transfer stuff to the front of the shop for sell, when.. he realized he didn't have the key and the door was locked doublesided.

He searched his pockets frantically, then through the nursery. Nothing. By this time, he was a half-hour late delivering the new plants to the front. DD came to find him with her key. "Is everything alright, Davie?" His face burned bright red. "Unfortunately, no, DD." She frowned, a questioningly look in her eye.

"I seem to have buried the key in the seedlings again." Davie mumbled. DD exhaled loudly, a disappointed look on her face. "It's okay. I guess I just can't trust you with keys. From now on, I will lock the door behind when you go to work in here. When you are finished with your work, or if you need anything all - use the restroom, a drink, there's an emergency or if we need you, we'll just use the phone systems. Agreed?" Davie sighed. It couldn't be helped. "Agreed."

She waited as he moved all the young plants that were ready to be moved, into the front of the shop. When he was done, she locked the door behind him. As he was arranging the plants, he thought some what optimistically that at least he hadn't lost his job. stressed
