Name: Dulcea Bodah
----------------- Her Nocturna name is also Dulcea, but it is passable as an earth name. Her homeworld does not have surnames, so Bodah was the one she would be supplied with.

Age: 530 *Appears early 20's

Birthday: will be same as the date of her arrival on earth

Occupation: None at the moment.

Hobbies:

Jewelry Crafting -- Okay, so she isn't the greatest at it, but Dulcea has always enjoyed crafting jewelry, learning new techniques and sharing them with others. It's not about being good at it, it's about doing something that brings you joy!

Beachcombing -- Dulcea enjoys finding what gifts the ocean washes ashore during low-tide. Often she will use the shells or seaglass she finds in her jewelry making. Her homeworld had a plethora of interesting things. Earth...Earth has some...oh no. That's trash? Okay.... beachcombing can sometimes turn in to beach cleaning.

Virtues:

Mother Hen -- Dulcea has always been a warm, motherly, person, taking strangers and friends alike under her wing and sharing her nurturing and protective nature with them. She will try to feed others in a way that would make any old granny proud, and sticks up for her friends in a way that would be the envy of any mama bear. Of course, she is always ready to sit back and offer the encouragement they need to act on their own and flourish outside the nest, but just as ready to catch them when they fall.

Confident -- After all this time her awkward, unsure, and shy years are far behind her, if she ever even was allowed to have that given that literal chaos she was born to. That aside, Dulcea has long since stepped in to her own confidence regarding who she is and what she believes. To many, Dulcea's confidence can be reassuring when they themself are feeling uncertain, and she knows this so she tries her best to maintain that air of confidence at all times. This isn't to say that she doesn't have moments of doubt or defeat, but that she has come to handle it with a level of grace. A large part of this is most definitely a byproduct of the way she was raised on her homeworld, the trials she faced there, and the loss she has endured. Her confidence has kept her from despair - she will find a way to save her world.

Flaws:

Independent -- Even before Chaos overtook her homeworld, Dulcea held a fierce independence, of which the at the forefront were the duties and expectations placed upon her as the Senshi of Nocturna. Without getting into a long tangent about the political and sociological duties that came with the role, the short story is that there was a certain level of....sacrifice that was expected. Even though Dulcea has always had a very close group of friends that she otherwise always treated with warmth and love, she held her duty, or rather her plans to subvert that duty, closer. She was always adamant about not getting anyone wrapped up in her business. Any attempt to help was denied, often leading to hurt on both sides. Now, she lays all the blame for what has happened to her homeworld on her own shoulders, and knows it is also up to her alone to fix it. Even now after arriving on Earth, she is doing her best to find her own way, but oh how difficult she is finding that to be.... Time alone has only made her more fiercely independent, and she can be rather 'short' with people who are too pushy about trying to help or instruct her.

Controlling - Dulcea is the kind of person who tends to step up and take charge when the situation calls for it, which sounds alright at first, but she is a very...unbending commander. When she knows what she wants, that is how she wants it, that is how it needs to go, that is how it will be done. When she gives an order she expects to be listened to and not questioned. She doesn't mesh well with equally strong-willed leader type people, as collaboration is not her forte, and it just turns in to a 'who can shout louder' competition. No wonder she'd rather do things on her own...sheesh.

Senshi of Tulpa

Sailor Scout Attack: Nocturna's Shielding Tulpa
Time: 30 sec || Uses: 3 ||
Standing still and hands clasped as in prayer, the flowers of Nocturna's uniform glow and a similarly glowing ethereal-ghostly form, conjured from the senshi's imagination appears on the battlefield and will absorb attacks from opponents but is ineffective against magic that is second stage or stronger. Lasts for 30 seconds. The conjured form is no bigger than the senshi herself.

Super Sailor Scout Attack: Nocturna's Brilliant Shielding Tulpa
Time: 35 sec || Uses: 2 ||
Standing still and hands clasped as in prayer, the flowers of Nocturna's uniform glow and a similarly glowing form, more solid than the Basic Attack yet still ethereal in appearance, conjured from the senshi's imagination, appears on the battlefield and will absorb attacks but is ineffective against magic that is third stage or stronger.from opponents for 35 seconds. The conjured form is no bigger than the senshi herself.

Eternal Sailor Attack: Nocturna's Protecting Tulpa
Time: 45 sec || Uses: 1 ||
Standing still and hands clasped as in prayer, the flowers of Nocturna's uniform glow. A similarly glowing form, solid yet still ethereal in appearance, conjured from the senshi's imagination appears on the battlefield. This time, rather than being a shield, they seem to have their own animalistic sentience - being unable to speak or understand complex instructions. They will deliver an attack to a random opponent by essentially charging at them. When they make contact it will feel like being body slammed backwards. Upon collision, they will disappear into a flurry of glowing white petals and the light is not only distracting but can cause partial or full blindness to all enemies within the vicinity for the duration of the magic.

---------------------------------

Deep Space Senshi:

Physical Features: Physically appears early 20's. Actual age is 530. Inhuman features include elf-like pointed ears, and eyes with cat-slit pupils that have a more obvious reflectivity than the average animal eye. She has vine tattoos up her arms and legs. Long ago, these used to hold retroreflective properties but over time that part of the ink has faded. She is unable to reapply/touch up the tattoos due to the decline of her homeworld.

The World of Nocturna

Nocturna is a world bathed in perpetual duskfall, with no difference in day and night. It is truly a world that 'never sleeps,' and boasts what Earthlings would call a 'Mediterranean' feel. The climate is largely semi-tropical, with the exception of higher elevations. Many of to civilizations are coastal or island based, as the world itself is 75% ocean.

Although Nocturna once was comprised of many countries of varying sizes, the rise of technology and machines in what had started as a magic-based society brought about a war which destroyed many of the larger civilizations and united the world of Nocturna under one governing rule. Now there is only one great city that boasts great splendor (and hypocrisy at its core...) and as you could guess, it is the seat of power in Nocturna. This great city, Xenar, sprawls far and tall atop the ocean's surface with impeccable engineering.

Although technology and machines are still a part of Nocturnian life, they may only use the 'good technology' that the governing bodies of Xenar permit. Thus, Nocturna came to hold an Ancient-Magic-Meets-SciFi feel.

Given that Nocturna had neither true day or true night, the people of Nocturna were very conscientious of the importance of sleep and one's own body rhythm in maintaining a healthy physical and mental state, and so they naturally developed their own structure around what we would consider 'morning people' and 'night owls.' More menial tasks were automated which allowed for people to have more time to dedicate to their personal hobbies, talents, or lives in general.
For the most part, it was a very organized and community-oriented world with a simple, easy-going lifestyle. The people loved, above all, friends, family, and festivity. Art, personal talents and hobbies were greatly valued and readily shared amongst the people.

Nocturna was closed off to other worlds. Most citizens did not know that other worlds even existed. This was a knowledge that was lost to time after the Machine-Magic war, where after the knowledge was only kept between the highest echelon of the governing rule.

Timeline of the World of Nocturna

Many years before the Silver Millennium

– The development of the magic civilization.
––– Civilization is pretty basic and easily compared to the early Viking age here on Earth. at this point, Nocturna has had some outside contact with other worlds, enough to know about senshi, Cosmos, mauvians, and the like. It was a relatively peaceful time. Life was simple, and magic was a novelty.

– The develop of machine technology is in its infancy.
––– It can be speculated that a Mauvian visited Nocturna to see if they could locate a Senshi of that world, but none was found at that time. They possibly introduced some basic technology that would help jump start Nocturna's progression. However, it is unclear if this is truth or very ancient myth.

The Silver Millennium begins

– The use of technology spreads throughout Nocturna.
––– Technology starts off as basic things just to help make life easier, but over the next couple hundred years, becomes expansive and excessive, with entire new cities dedicated to it and its development.

– The use of machines and technology in society begins to surpass magic.

– The technology based civilizations reach their peak.
––– A protective barrier that is a mix or technology and magic is developed and deployed into the atmosphere of Nocturna, blocking all entry into the planet without invitation.
––––– A 'landing pad' or 'welcome station' for visitors is constructed in the technology-based city of Yissel. It is built to keep track of the landing of off-planet visitors.

Early Silver Millennium

– The world begins to divide in to magic vs machine politics.
––– There begins to be a big divide between those who can wield magic, and those who choose to use technology. Since only certain people trained and studied in the use of magic can wield it, and anyone regardless of training can use technology, magic users are viewed as 'elitists' and those who are big in to tech develop a seemingly self-imposed persecution complex.
–––––– At the cusp of war, all outside entry to Nocturna is blocked off completely, coincidentally stranding a Mauvian ambassador seeking out the world's senshi on Nocturna.

– War breaks out as the divide reaches peak tension.
––– The city-country of Xenar, mainly using magic as a method of combat, fights with the machine-armed city-country of Yissel. (Both countries are technology-heavy civilizations, but Yissel, which mainly uses machine weapons, as opposed to the still heavy magical influence in Xenar, are dominant from the beginning. Xenar inevitably falls.)
––––––– In a desperate measure, the lord of Xenar, a powerful magic user, tapped in to a dark and mysterious magic on the night his wife was giving birth to their child. The ritual resulted in the death of his wife, as well as the birth of the first (eventual) Sailor Nocturna....and a great magical beast that would become known as Requiem.
–––––––––––– Requiem's first action is to destroy Xenar, and Yissel, before it destroys the remaining machine-based civilizations.
–––––––––––––––– The citizens of Nocturna are lead to think that the Great Beast Requiem was summoned by Lord Xenar in desperate retribution for Yissel's attack on Xenar, and later on be twisted in to what the general populace would believe was done in despair for his wife's death at the hand of the warriors of Yissel, and thus a righteous and just anger inflicted upon the world, from which they must all repent. A Dogma that Lord Xenar is glad to use to his advantage.

– The survivors start work on the reconstruction of Nocturna, focusing on Xenar.
––– Over the following years, because Requiem attacks technology-heavy civilizations when they try to rebuild, there is a widening trend of people abandoning machines.

– The Dogma of Xenar is created; By propagating the dogma of repentance and preaching of machine prohibition – a dogma absorbed throughout the world -- and seizing public sentiment, the the rebuilt kingdom of Xenar takes complete psychological and political control of Nocturna. From then on all the civilizations on Nocturna, despite once being separate countries, are united under one governing rule.
––– Xenar establishes a new psedo-religious government along with the Temples of Nocturna, spearheading the governance of the citizens of Nocturna through teaching the already newly established dogma and cementing its psychological control on the world, preaching the 'Dogma of Xenar' and operating like a Secret Police as well.

–Lord Xenar's daughter is awakened as the first Sailor Nocturna.
––– The Temples add the concept that Requiem is a punishment for all of people’s sins into its doctrine. At the same time, it spreads the story that Sailor Nocturna can get rid of Requeim by sacrificing themself to it in the name of all of the citizen's Nocturna's sins, but to give her the power to do so they must believe in Xenar's doctrine.

–Yissel, which has remained in ruins for many years now, and was the former welcome station to people from outside the world of Nocturna, becomes a new project for Lord Xenar.
––– Yissel was once an extravagant city, but more impressive than its outwards appearance was its literal underworld. With all its advanced technology, the people of Yissel dug deep into the ground and created a subtropolis, and although the surface of Yissel was rubble, there was still a very viable structure underneath.
–––––– Repairs and modifications were made over the next many years, known only to Xenar and his most trusted members of government. This Secret Council would make its base here.
––––––––––– Knowing outside worlds would eventually try to make contact with Nocturna, they needed a plan to open up to accepting outside visitors again, but also keep the people of Nocturna from seeking outside help or leaving, and keep them believing in the Dogma of Xenar. So, they came together and with magic and 'forbidden' technology, crafted the fake world of Xenargloam within Yissel.

– Upon Xenargloam's completion, and the crafting of new magic that would transport anyone who crossed the techni-magic barrier of the Nocturna atmosphere to the landing pad of Xenargloam. Outside visitors would never see the real Nocturna or its people, only this fake world, with its fake people who seemed so real, it was almost like they once were real, as if this city once truly was, and in truth -- Xenargloam was built on the memories of what the city of Xenar and Yissel once were, but combined and made greater by the powers, memories, thoughts, wishes and will of Xenar and his Secret Council.
––– On the surface the Ruins of Yissel would be shrouded in fog and dark tales spread about how it was the only place that the Great Beast Requiem could be defeated by the power of Sailor Nocturna. All this to keep the citizens of Nocturna away, and it would work, as any who entered the ruins would never end up leaving, save for the council, and no one knew that they had their secret gathering there within the depths of Yissel, or their secret city of Xenargloam.

– The sacrifice of the first Sailor Nocturna comes to pass, and with her death so too does Requiem seem to disappear. For a time.

Many many years later

– A new Sailor Nocturna is born (not yet awakened) and Requiem begins to awaken again, it's body slowly regenerating until one day it makes its first appearance in many years.

– The Temples have to explain the return of Requiem. Very few know what really brought about the birth of the Great Beast or its tenuous connection to their Senshi, but those who do are high up on the governing order, and quickly come up with an explanation, and tell the people to pray for the return of Sailor Nocturna, that she may again appear to do battle with Requiem. This was explained with further justifications, but long story short, corrupt governments and magical beasts, control of the people, tale as old as time. The Government continued to spread other stories and dogma in order to sustain the people’s hope.

– Lord Xenar dies, but due to his strong will and spirit of purpose, along with the people of Nocturna's belief in his will (The Dogma of Xenar) he lives on as a Tulpa, and no one knows that he is dead, and his rule continues.
––– As the members of his Secret Council die, they too are forced by Tulpa Xenar to 'live on' as he does. The people of Nocturna would question at first, but this was quickly stomped out and explained away in one way or another, and as the years went on, and generations came and went, the memory of how things once were and happened faded away from the layman's knowledge. History was re-told, re-written, and a new normal sat heavy upon Nocturna.

– The singular Mauvian who was trapped on Nocturna was getting old, and without them, Nocturna had no hope of their Senshi being re-awoken. They were ready to welcome death if for no other reason than to spite Xenar, however, Xenar knew the Senshi was important to his control, and thus the Mauvian, like his council, was made to continue an un-life. The Mauvian however, in this state, did not have the power to awaken or create, much to Xenar's chagrin, and over the course of the rest of the Silver Millennium there would be a great Cat-and-Mouse game between the two, as a new Sailor Nocturna would awaken on their own and the cat would show up sporadically with cryptic old-talking-cat ramblings, and disappear, not-so-helpfully trying to guide the Senshi to the truth, while avoiding the wrath of Tulpa Xenar.

This cycle of Sacrifice would continue for many years until.....

The Silver Millennium begins to fall, and Chaos takes root

-- ??? number of years ago, a Chaos Seed found its way to the world of Nocturna and buried itself deep within the darkest part of it - within the Artificial City of Xenargloam.

-- For several decades the Chaos Seed was left undiscovered, slowly growing and taking root.
----- The effects of the Chaos seed are not apparent at first, but once fertile soil and calm waters seemed....different. Less healthy, more unwieldy. Creatures seemed to be acting abnormally, especially birds and bugs. Eventually they would begin spontaneously dying off, and crops became harder to grow and water tasted of sulphur. The once healthy glow of the landscape was becoming dark and gritty.

-- 530 years ago Dulcia is born.

-- An anomaly is reported within Xenargloam.
---- Xenar orders the anomaly brought to him. It is the Chaos Seed. Xenar can feel the dark, chaotic, power within, and between his own dark desires and the seduction of Chaos, he one with this dark parasite hoping to use its power, but the power of Chaos was too great, and Xenar's slow spiral in to madness now hastened in to undeniable megalomania that even his Secret Council were wary of.

-- 515 years ago, Dulcia is awoken as Sailor Nocturna.

-- The shadows start taking hold all over Nocturna, there is fighting and creatures, feral and beastlike, invading, terrible and volatile weather, and the whole world is wracked with fear and uncertainty.

-- 512 years ago, Dulcia reaches Eternal, and over her time as Senshi, she has been trying to find another way to destroy Requiem and help save her world from whatever this plague that has taken hold of it is. She has been uncovering secrets and lies, exposing the truth to the people of Nocturna.

-- The people of Nocturna had become divided again. This time, not by technology vs magic, but faith vs despair. And for everyone who lost their faith, Xenar would lose power, but at the cost of the Chaos Seed taking more control over him.

-- Having put some pieces together, Sailor Nocturna.....goes to the place she is supposed to confront Requiem. But she has a plan! The Great Beast has weakened just as Xenar has weakened. Sailor Nocturna has reason to believe that her confronting Requiem will draw out Xenar, and true to form, it does.
----- Requiem is weakened, and Xenar, now a monstrous and truly appalling shell of his former self, appears to deliver his villainous monologue which would unveil the truth of everything to Nocturna and why she must now die. However, unlike the Sailor Nocturna's before her, she knew this was going to happen, because she had put the pieces together, and she was ready.
---------- Before she could act however, the Chaos Seed, likely sensing the impending demise of it's host, drained the last bit of power Xenar had, and he rumbled away in to nothing, as did the Great Beast Requiem.
-------------------- The Chaos seed floated there, quadruple in size to what it was when it first arrived on Nocturna. The Senshi stared at it in horror and confusion, repulsed by the energy it gave of. This was not something she had factored in, much less knew about. it was then the Chaos Seed lashed out, sending a great wave of power that shook the land and knocked the Eternal Senshi to her feet. She knew this thing needed to be stopped, and she didn't know how, but she was ready to give it her all when.....

Something Happened

For the next several hundred years Chaos would devastate the world of Nocturna. As of 200 years ago, all life, save for the Senshi of Nocturna would vanish. left behind were the ruins of a world that had already been suffering under the thumb of an undead megalomaniacal ruler and his false government with delusions of absolute power. For those 200 years, deep within the ruins of a temple, the Senshi of Nocturna slept, laying in a bed of pure white flowers until one day....

A Spark~

F.A.Q.

Q: Did the people of Nocturna have connections to any other planets/worlds/civilizations?

A: To the general populace, the answer was no. They had no idea other civilizations existed. The very corrupt upper echelons of the government though? Yes, absolutely.
The Governemt very carefully and secretly had contact with other worlds, such as Mau which they would contact for a cat to find and awaken their senshi when Requiem would re-awaken. Any outside visitors to Nocturna were not permitted to penetrate the magic barrier integrated in to the world's atmosphere without permission and escort by a member of government. Once they were permitted to visit Nocturna, they were only allowed within a carefully crafted area made from a mix of highly advanced secret 'forbidden' technology and powerful magic. Most who visited were led to believe that this area was the entirety of Nocturna, and thus have no interaction with the actual laymen of Nocturna - only those of the magical simulation.

Q: What actually IS the Great Beast Requiem?

A: Crafted from highly advanced magic and the Blood of New Life (blood from the literal birth of the infant that would become the very first Sailor Nocturna) the Great Beast Requiem was summoned with the mission to obliterate -- All threats to Xenar and his desires. -- Originally Xenar, the powerful mage who summoned Requiem, intended for the beast to be a protector for all of Nocturna. Soon that intention was twisted in to the desire to mold Nocturna in to a world that fit his ideals, and since Requiem was tied to the will and wishes of Xenar, the beast's destructive force was set upon the whole world getting rid of those that got in the way of Xenar's vision, and later simply to scare the people in to clinging tighter and tighter to the Dogma of Xenar.

Q: Why doesn't the Great Beast disappear after the death of Lord Xenar?

A: Oh sweet child, you assume he's dead. Okay yes, Xenar technically would eventually die, but his Will was so strong, and the Dogma he'd created believed so strongly that.... Essentially it/he became a Tulpa. Technically Requiem was also a Tulpa of sorts!
This Tulpa Xenar would continue governing Nocturna along with his Secret Council, all while holding the metaphorical leash to his Great Beast.

Q: How is Sailor Nocturna connected to the Great Beast Requiem?

A: Aside from the birth blood from the very first Sailor Nocturna being used in the ritual to summon/create it? Not at all. The presumed 'fact' that the senshi must 'do battle with Requiem in order to destroy it,' was a lie. After battling the beast at a designated location, she would then be slain...by Lord/Tulpa Xenar himself, and her blood used to seal away Requiem for a time, until the blood seal ran out, which would usually coincide with the rebirth of the senshi in a sad case of poetic irony. Anyone's blood could be used for the blood seal. The Senshi's is just convenient.

Q: Why does Lord/Tulpa Xenar kill Sailor Nocturna?

A: Because the senshi threatens him and his vision and rule. It is a simply cycle of maintaining the status quo. If the cycle is disrupted, the people will lose hope, lose their faith, start to question, and he loses power. So certain things must be allowed to happen to maintain his grip on the world.

What Nocturna's chaos feeds off of and how to defeat it - ambition. Showing you your goal and hanging it in front of you like a carrot in front of a horse, driving you more and more mad and desperate to do anything, ANYTHING, to make that last needed jump....only to not reach it. Repeat. Then starve the chaos of ambition by having none - just the desire to live a simple life, doing nothing of real consequence with friends and family..
