Prompt 4 (Fear and Feathers): The moon is bright tonight and reflects off of the snowy ground, illuminating everything with an ethereal glow. Destiny City feels almost safe, even at night. The fresh fallen snow seems undisturbed and brings a sense of peace. Only, nothing is ever as good as it seems, and there’s something eerie about it. After a while, it feels like someone--or something--is watching you. In the shadows of the trees, a set of milky eyes watches. Whatever it is, it’s tall and bulky. If you walk quickly, you feel it follow you but once you leave the line of trees, it disappears. If you try to approach it, a great beast will screech at you: a six foot tall snowy white owl takes flight. It may tackle or claw at you, depending on how you approach it, but it will always take flight and disappear in the night. If you choose to attack it, for the next few nights any time you look out your window you will see glowing eyes in the distance--or worse, hear it scratching to get in. Eventually, the temperature rises and the visits stop. For now.
Dari was playing in the snow late one, trying to have some fun. Trying was the operative word. He missed his Daddy, or rather the Senshi he considered his Daddy, Eternal Sailor Etamin, or as he was known to family and most friends, Officer Andrew 'Drew' Bones.
At the moment, Daddy was off-world seeking to finish rebuilding his homeworld of Etamin. He had told most people that he was off on a training sabbatical for his career (whatever that meant). Dari wanted to go with him and see it, but Daddy said he wasn't ready, and that Aunt Dria / Super Sailor Pasithee and Aunt Dani /Chibi Super Sailor Leaena (Drew's twin and younger sisters) needed him here more. He had subsequently left Dari in the care of Aunt Dria. Aunt Dria was watching him from the window, as she worked on homework and would look up time to time to keep an eye on him.
The moon was extremely bright tonight, and gave everything a ghostly glow. It was a little spooky but in a good way. Everything felt safe and peaceful - in a way that Destiny City should not- and that what was really creepy.
After a bit, Dari was start to feel cold and was just about to go inside, when he felt like someone or something was watching him and it wasn't Aunt Dria. He sat back on his haunches for a moment and shook the snow from his fur, the gold bands around his legs clinking aganist each other as he did so. Then he began looking around up above him (most people and things were much larger than him anyways) and finally they landed upon a pair of large milky white eyes in the trees.
Fear rushed through him. He looked back at the house - too far to run. Too far for Aunt Dria come if he called for help, even if she heard him or saw that he was in trouble. He knew he shouldn't come so far from the house. He also knew he should've followed his senses sooner and gone to the Order Cat Headquarters and learned to build things like a communicator!
Too late for that now. He gingerly put a paw down and watched the creature, which seemed to his senses to be a very large owl. The creature did nothing but watched. He took a few more steps. Nothing . He picked up the pace. The owl flew the next tree to presumely keep up with him. He did not want to get into a fight with this thing - he would not come out alive, but maybe with Aunt Dria's help. He broke into a run and the owl tore after him. Aunt Dria left the window, apparently seeing him being chased and came to the door.
He leapt in her arms, shaking and she held him gently stroking him. The owl was gone and Aunt Dria had never seen him tonight. However, she believed him, for she too had once been chased by that same owl, a few years ago. She took Dari and they sat down by the fireplace. She held him and stroke him gently til he stopped shaking. His trust in her grew greatly tonight.
