It’s not just one light, either; almost everywhere you go you can find some light repeating the pattern. Is something trying to send you a message? Could it be Morse Code, or something else? A coincidence? Either way, you can’t seem to decipher the message and it’s getting to you. Especially because no one else seems to notice it. Had it been a good idea to go out again during winter? Probably not. There was that HUGE owl that he had run into. And now he thought he was going crazy. He had gone out again tonight hoping to run into a few people that he could drain energy from, but while he had let his wraith loose for a bit he could have sworn that the lights decorating the nearby buildings from his roof post where repeating in a pattern. And it didn't appear to be some programmed pattern either or one relating to some unsung holiday song. They were skipping around, but always in the same order. And every time he looked to make sure that his wraith was okay, the lights seemed to go back to normal. After rubbing his eyes a couple of times, he wondered if it was worth it to stay out much longer. Before he could make the decision though, he felt the aura of chaos. And NOT a Dark Mirror. He cursed to himself and ordered his wraith back, who had gotten a bit full, hoping that whoever it was out tonight wasn't looking for a fight. But Bell wouldn't back down if he was attacked, he had learned he couldn't keep running from everything, eventually he had to fight back, even if he didn't want to.

God, but it'd been ages. It wasn't exactly that ze'd missed any of Destiny City's wild bullshit? Because, like it or leave it, it was wild bullshit. But if you live with something for long enough, you get used to it, and a whole teenagerhood full of holidays that'd gone absolutely mad with untamed magic had left zem feeling -- weirdly discontent for those two years away, when Halloween and Christmas came and it was just... costumes, and snow, and absolutely nothing supernatural whatever. Kind of boring, honestly. Where else did you get ridiculous news stories about marshmallow snow and rabid snow bunnies and megafauna-sized owls attacking people? It'd been weird to go without. And it'd been weird to go without being Larimar, too, but now ze was back to that, and that was nice. Dagger in zyr hand - nicer, too, now that ze knew how to use it, had been professionally trained. So that aura... well, Dark Mirrors had always been on strange, tenuous terms with the Negaverse, alliance a fluctuating thing. Could anyone blame zem for wanting a little warmup violence? It took Larimar a minute to make it to the rooftop; he didn't seem to be leaving, didn't seem to be going anywhere, and that was basically an invitation. "Going somewhere? Or just not feeling in the holiday spirit?" Ze rolled zyr eyes. "Can't blame you on the latter. God, this s**t's tacky." And ze flipped zyr dagger through the air, casually, drawing attention to it without even saying a word.

A Captain. Bell cursed inside of his head. And one that appeared to want a confrontation at that if he was interpreting the other's words correctly. Well, the dagger also caught his attention. "I go what I came for." He said, making sure that his compact was safe. His wraith had just managed to make it before the Captain had made it to the rooftop. He wished he could have used it to fight. "I don't need to stay here and fight you on energy targets." He said, making a mental note of any escape routes he could take. And that dagger could easily become a projectile. "I think celebration is better than going through winter and doing nothing but waiting for it to go away." He said with a frown on his face. For now he wouldn't move. He knew his magic could do some damage, so if the Captain got close enough, he might be able to do something. Of course he also had to remember that Captains could teleport as well. It was not looking good for him. He would have to escape when he could.

Ze scoffed. "I'm not fighting you over draining targets, are you serious? How unreasonable do you think I am? Draining in that whole ******** mess is a great way to get myself called out as being a creep - this isn't exactly holiday attire." Zyr eyes slanted to the lights for a second, though, and zyr brow furrowed. "The hell is..." For a second, it almost seemed like Larimar would leave well enough alone; it was almost like watching the gears click inside zyr brain. What was that? Was it ******** morse code? Hell if ze knew - ze'd specialized in zyr studies, and morse code hadn't been part of it. It was a distraction from the point at hand. "Nah. I'm fighting you because I think your starseed would look great on my wall, but I'll settle for a finger or two." Not that zyr dagger was even suited for sawing or cutting, but was he really going to call Larimar's bluff there? Was he going to call it when ze lunged unexpectedly, zero to sixty in one moment, dagger snug in zyr hand?

Bell would have cursed to himself again but the Captain was too fast and Bell could only think of one thing to do as the other lunged at him. "Breath of Fire!" He yelled, closing his mouth for a moment before letting out the fire in a stream. If the Captain went behind or to the side of him, he might still have had some time to use the rest of it. But he would have to take his chance to escape when he could. After all, he only had so many uses of his magic and once that was gone, it would be raw strength and one of them already had an upper hand in that area. The lights were still blinking in the corners of his eyes, but he tried not to pay attention to them. They were still quite distracting though and almost made him dizzy. Quote: Bellerophon says the attack and as he does so he can feel his mouth getting hotter. The next time he opens it, he lets out a breath of flame! This can last up to 15 seconds (depending on if he wants it to) and reach about 3 feet. Can be used 3 times. Doesn’t hurt him but can make his enemies feel as though they are on fire (they may choose how they feel it, such as fully or just a part of them and they have to brush it off/roll to get it off but they can feel it). May still feel warm a few hours afterwards (up to the player)

"Oh, hell-" Larimar sidestepped, but not quite in time, clumsy on the rooftop tiles when zyr heel slid through a bit of slush; the noise ze made was something ugly, pained, throwing zemself against the roof to get the perceived fire out, dagger clattering to the side. That uniform was all cloth -- it kept zem warm more than well enough, especially with that natural cold resistance from being powered -- but zyr mind did the trick well enough when it came to simulating those flames. And laid half-flush against the roof, with the fire revealed as fake, and those goddamned lights still blinking - it took zem a bit to get up, flushed red in maybe-embarrassment, maybe-rage. "What -- you -- "

Bell frowned at the other. "Well what else was I supposed to do when you came rushing at me with a dagger?!" It was as though the Captain was surprised that someone who was being attacked decided to defend themselves! Just what type of people had this Captain run into before? Ones who just stood there and let themselves get stabbed over and over? Bell knew he had to get out of here quickly. The Captain had the ability to teleport and while he didn't know how much energy that took to do so, he didn't want to tempt the chance of getting literally stabbed in the back at this time, and so he moved backwards, making sure to keep his guard up on his back the entire time. If he could just get to an edge... Daekie I am so sorry! I lost this one!

"It's - " Now Larimar was off-balance verbally, and ze fumbled for the words - "it's banter, don't you have a sense of drama? What's the point in fighting to kill if you're deathly silent the entire time? It's flat." Ze stumbled to zyr feet then, calling the dagger back to zyr hand, and glared. "Some people have no sense of style, I guess." "Alright, so, here's the thing: I can keep trying to stab you a lot longer than you can keep casting your magic on me, so we could waste another few minutes on that back and forth, or you can acknowledge I'll probably eventually win and let me drain you." Zyr smirk was perfectly insincere. "It'll hurt less than a puncture wound, and I won't even take enough to knock you out. How about it?"

That... didn't answer his question in any way whatsoever. The question was what was he supposed to do against a person rushing him with a dagger, not what he should say if someone was doing it! He didn't care to correct the Captain anyway. They were clearly on a mission and it didn't matter what Bell did to the other. And there was only one way for Bell to answer, hoping that the Captain wouldn't be able to just immediately teleport behind him if he did what he was going to do... damn he wished he could mirrowalk! "No." He said in response, and with that he leapt down into the alleway and ran onto the sidewalk where, while there wasn't a huge crowd, there would hopefully be enough people, and cameras, to capture anything that went on as he made his escape from the Captain! He didn't much care about getting caught. It would most likely be blamed on the White Moon Senshi anyway if anyone did see him as he ran past at above-human speed. "Don't be unreasonable," Larimar hollered after him, the disbelief in zyr voice wildly audible. The nerve of some people! Really! What was so wrong with wanting to be a little traditionally villainous? Really, ze'd thought ze was being wildly reasonable, with zyr divisive options of 'get stabbed' or 'get drained'; there was a clear winner there. Apparently the Senshi hadn't seen it that way. Well, he was too far away now for zem to easily teleport to - ze was out of practice with that, had kept meaning to do it but never had the energy - so this was one bit of lost prey. Damn. ...Maybe ze would actually drain the civilians in the streets below, anyway. Nobody seemed to be looking up anymore, and it'd be a great surplus to acquire. Time not wasted after all.
