Prompt 4 (Fear and Feathers): The moon is bright tonight and reflects off of the snowy ground, illuminating everything with an ethereal glow. Destiny City feels almost safe, even at night. The fresh fallen snow seems undisturbed and brings a sense of peace. Only, nothing is ever as good as it seems, and there’s something eerie about it. After a while, it feels like someone--or something--is watching you. In the shadows of the trees, a set of milky eyes watches. Whatever it is, it’s tall and bulky. If you walk quickly, you feel it follow you but once you leave the line of trees, it disappears. If you try to approach it, a great beast will screech at you: a six foot tall snowy white owl takes flight. It may tackle or claw at you, depending on how you approach it, but it will always take flight and disappear in the night. If you choose to attack it, for the next few nights any time you look out your window you will see glowing eyes in the distance--or worse, hear it scratching to get in. Eventually, the temperature rises and the visits stop. For now.

When the snow had started to fall over the city, it'd enamoured Daesva with its beauty. From inside the house. Outside? Outside, she was not a fan of the bitter cold, or how wet she'd soon get trudging through the banks of white stuff--and gross, dark, icky stuff from the sides of the roads. Frozen water. It was amazing to someone so used to carefully controlled weather systems. Seeing how inaccurate the meteorologists were about the weather at times was also mystifying in its own way. Natural weather could be roughly predicted, but never precisely. Such as how they were correct in that there'd be a snowfall that evening, but not in how much. She'd listened to a report about it just being an inch or so.

Now, teal eyes stared out her window at the freshly fallen snow that blanketed the yards, and were being shoved and plowed out of the sidewalks and streets. Beneath the moonlight, it seemed... blue, where the yellow of electricity didn't blot it out.

She paused the video she'd been watching on racing motorcycle engines while sketching out diagrams of them, noting her stock of carbonated sugary drinks was... empty. Lips pursing, she cleaned up her desk enough and poked her ComTech a few times till a dark jacket materialized on her, figuring the snow wasn't enough to keep her from a run down to a nearby store.

There was a pause to poke around and knock on doors, poke her head into open doorways and make inquiries if anyone wanted anything, or if anyone wished to join her instead. Requests were memorized, and Fae-Fae had chosen to join her on the trip. The company was welcomed, and Daesva felt her shoulders relax before she even realized they'd been tense.

The night air nipped at her more than she was accustomed to, and she winced, pulling her jacket tighter around her form as heavy boots crunched through the glistening, pristine layers of snow. With human guises offered by the ComTechs, she knew they didn't attract any attention, besides maybe some looks about maybe needing a few more layers on her, judging by how she shivered a bit. But that wasn't... the sensation she was getting as she walked down the sidewalk. The redhead frowned, flicking her gaze up along the rooftops and through the bare branches of trees that peppered yards and near the sidewalk. She couldn't see any senshi or Negaversers, and when she peeked at her ComTech, it wasn't reporting any energy signatures in the area. No youma, either. So... why did she feel... like something was watching her? It wasn't merely just being with company. Fae-Fae was a comforting presence, and this other one made Daesva's shoulders tense all over again. She felt almost... jumpy.

It was a sensation that never left her as she made her way to the convenience store, the back of her neck prickling till she slipped in through the doors and into the brightly lit--and warm--interior. She pulled out a folded cloth bag from one of the pockets of the jacket, another handy-dandy article from the ComTech she'd saved numerous styles of. "Did you have anything specific you wanted, or do you want to look around for a bit? I've got to find what the others requested." Daesva--well... technically Storm, as she currently was--tapped her fingers lightly against the thick fabric of the bag, a slow, absent rhythm. Some of the unease and anxiousness from the weird sensation was starting to ebb, and she felt herself loosening up for it.

Out in the world of humans, Fae-Fae was now Zephyr. It had been something of an adventure to find that name. Lysvi had helped her find something that aligned with her Velencian name, and she was rather pleased to see it appear on all the little cards and documents she was now responsible for as part of her human life.

That said, she was already regretting the choice to step outside. She was also regretting the choice to have so little hair on her head. It was cold! The moment they had passed through the front door of their house, Zephyr immediately dashed inside and threw on another layer. She had no idea how Storm was managing with just the jacket. The tenacity that took was impressive.

Worse yet was the pricking feeling of eyes on her back. The freezing air was already making her so tense, and the added stress made her clench her jaw so hard it was aching. She sprinted into the door alongside Storm with a sigh of relief, and shook her head at the question.

There was just one thing on her list this evening: cinnamon rolls. Zephyr hated most sweets, but something about them -- maybe their whimsical shape? -- made them a craving that surfaced with increasing regularity. Plus, this store carried a kind that came in packs of two, which made it an easy treat to share with Caelyna. And treats shared with Caelyna always tasted twice as good.

The cold and the ominous presence forgotten for the moment, she made a beeline at her prize and smiled in anticipation as the package crinkled in her fingers.
