It was the season of giving and Omari was determined to do his best to get gifts for his family. Today's focus was for his mother though since he was a bit biased this year's solstice. While Omari adored everyone in his family the teen was wanting to present his mother with the perfect gift to gain her favor before entering the dancing academy she had started in Sulburi. But what should he even give his mother? Omari pursed his lips thoughtfully as he glanced about the small village near their Matori home. He had already commissioned a shield for his father, an intricate piece that Kyril was helping him with as the final touches had gemstones to represent each of the siblings around the edges with engravings connecting each of them. She was going to set them for him as soon as the smithy finished the actual base for the shield. Now if only he could get inspired like that for his mother! She had so much jewelry already and flowers weren't the most spectacular thing....
"Man." Omari let out another sigh before looking back for his twin. "Olly! Do you have anything in mind for gifts this year?" He found himself asking as he looked about for the other teen.

Mesmerized by a delicate pinwheel made of glass, Oly looked up at the sound of his brother's call. "I have all the things in mind, that's the problem," he said with a laugh, pointing to the spinning decorations. "What do you think of these?" The options were truly endless. That, and he had competition! Gift-giving wasn't supposed to be a competition... but it couldn't be helped. There was a little bit of a need to give the most appreciated gifts. Gifts that matched the recipient the best. So, pretty things for mom!

Omari chuckled. "The opposite of me. I just keep blanking every time I even try for mom." He shook his head with a pout before glancing over at the spinning decorations. "Those are nice. Do you think that someone could hang them outside? It would probably go really well with the chimes Kyril made last year." Omari loved listening to them on a windy afternoon, the musical sounds blending in beautifully with the sound of the ocean waves. Admittedly he was a bit spoiled as a child since he had often just lazed about on the large porch that wrapped around their family's ocean manor. It was always inspiring to watch the ocean, especially in the early hours of morning and later evening hours with the horizon changing colors as the sun moved along.
"At least we can cheat with each other, right?" He teased his twin with a playful grin. Even if he tried to hide things from Oly it was near impossible to get it away from his attention! Most of their siblings were away from home now and only came back a couple of times a year which made it much easier to hide the boxes until they visited.

Oly shook his head with a bemused smirk. "I'm not sure which is worse; too many options or not enough?" He looked back at the pinwheels and nodded. "I bet they'd look really nice with the wind chimes! That's a good idea." He could see his mother sitting out on the porch in a cozy chair with a cup of tea while surrounded with her plants, chimes, and the spinning glass? Yeah, that was scenic. "I think I'll get one for mom then." He pointed out one that he thought would look nice with the chimes and paid the stall owner half. He would return later with the other half so that he wouldn't have to carry a delicate present around for long.
Back with Omari, he grinned and elbowed his twin. "It's not cheating. It's helping!"

"I feel like I just helped you win something." Teased Omari even though he couldn't help smiling at his brother's present came together. He was certain that their mother would love it and the teen could already imagine how nice it would look hanging around the porch. Omari pursed his lips before slowly shaking his head at the objects he saw hanging about the stall. None of them seemed as good as Oly's gift. Dangit. Still, he wasn't upset since he was just glad that their mother would be happy. If anything it was more of a challenge now!
A laugh escaped him as he elbowed Oly back. "Yeah, yeah. Just let me know if anything sticks out to you. I'm waiting on dad's shield to be finished, got Kyril a really nice warm cloak, Cahira a few traveling accessories and I'm at a loss for everyone else." Though his brothers were usually easier to please, that much Omari was thankful for.

"Hey, I can't help that I found them before you did," he said with a chuckle. "I mean, you could get her one, too, and then she would have two of them. They would look cool together." He paused and looked back at the pinwheels. Maybe he would get her a second one just for that... Oh gosh, the others! "Shierra would be fine with a club, I bet," he teased, keeping his voice low as though she might somehow hear him. "I got Pynar a journal, and a necklace for Cahira. I.. don't know what to do for Kyril or Koril." With the oldest of the siblings living so far away, he often had trouble picking out something that he didn't find redundant or too simple.

Omari paused at the suggestion. "That's not a bad idea." He admitted with a sheepish grin towards his brother. But would that be cheating? To use his brother's gift and just make it a mutual thing? "Alright, we'll pick up a second one and if I can't think of anything I'm stealing the idea." He teased his twin before reaching for a coin and giving it to the merchant for an additional pinwheel. They were truly lovely and he knew their mother would love it.
A laugh escaped his lips before he glanced about as if Shierra would actually come up behind them and club them both on the back of the head. "All of that sounds good. I know Kyril gets cold in Sauti so that's why I got her the cloak...she can make her own jewelry so maybe supplies or a nice box to store things in? A jewelry box could be nice especially if its made from Matori driftwood. I've seen some artisans make really pretty designs." He suggested with a small smile. He did owe Oly some ideas since he was potentially stealing the pinwheel. "I think Koril will be happy with anything but it would be cool to figure out something unique for him."

Oly couldn't help a pleased grin. He had helped, and their mother would get the benefit! It was a win all around. He eyed the second pinwheel up to make sure the colors would go with the other decorations before he went on to keep looking. "Maybe some nice gloves for Kyril then, or a cozy hat? I don't know if I trust the carriers to take a nice box out there without breaking it!" A jewelry box would have been nice though. "We should take her one for either her next visit or if we go out there." He stopped at another stall that was selling nice looking shirts. Not for Koril, but maybe dad? "I usually get him something with animals, but I want something different this time." Of course, his funds were limited, too. Caution with spending was needed!

"That could be nice." Omari nodded thoughtfully. "We could always save up for a jewelry box and hold onto it for when she visits next or maybe we can finally go explore around Sauti." Though he much preferred staying in Oba and Matori where it was warm. Omari hated feeling so suffocated by heavier clothing but he also got cold easily so it wasn't the best situation for him to travel to the more northern countries during the cooler seasons. So maybe it was best that they wait for summer or hoped that Kyril visited with the girls during the cooler season again.
"Yeah." Omari nodded. "I think that shirt would look great for dad." He frowned when he thought about his oldest brother. "Something different, hmm? Sol and Koril have daughters now so why not something to help them stay energetic? Certain teas or some of those coffee grinds to help give them a spark despite the cold of Zena?" Just thinking about the northern country sent a shiver down his spine. How his oldest brother managed to survive there was beyond him!

The echo of going out to Sauti reminded Oly that he wasn't too fond of getting cold either. It wasn't the layers so much as just the feeling of the cold seeping into his skin and bones. Forget visiting Koril at all! "Maybe we'll wait for the summer before we visit Kyril." He rifled through the various shirts, again focusing on colors. Their father enjoyed some fine clothes, so he had to make sure it was something good; especially if Omari was going for a shield!
"Oh! Coffee's a good idea! I could get him one from those other places, like Yael or Belrea. Mom says he used to travel a lot, so I bet he would find that pretty cool." He looked over at Omari and grinned. "You always have such good ideas. I'd be totally lost without you."

"Agreed." That was definitely the best option! Omari would rather wait a few extra weeks than risk freezing in the cold. Sorry Kyril. If anything he was impressed that she made it in Sauti for so long without visiting home! What had it been almost a full year now since her last visit? As much as he missed his siblings Omari was just grateful that they were happily living their lives. Maybe if anything they could slip some tea into her package as well. "I think they have some flavored grinds even...maybe one of those with the dark chocolate mixed in or certain spices?"
"Pfft. We're just even since you helped me with mom's present." He nudged Oly playfully. "But now the hardest part. What do we gift each other?"

Oly nodded excitedly. There were a surprising amount of options available when it came to coffee flavors. Surely he would be able to find a couple that would tickle his brother's taste buds. Since Koril was part of a pair now, maybe he should send a little extra in case Sol wanted some as well? Should he send a hat for Kyril's husband then? It was going to add up to too much if he started involving the extended family! That would make his head spin and his wallet empty!
"Wait, I need to get you something?" he asked playfully. "You know I can't help with that. How can I surprise you with something if you see what I pick out for you?"

"Yeah, but it would save time if I just picked my gift out and you told me what you wanted." Replied Omari with a wink before shaking his head. "That wouldn't be as fun though, right?" The winter solstice only came once a year after all. It was best to actually take the time for everyone. Omari grinned at the thought before patting Oly's back. "We should split up then and finish up shopping. I'm not letting you see what I get~" He waved towards his twin before playfully darting away, his focus already on several of the stalls that he was approaching. Now that everyone else was mostly settled it was time to focus on Oly!

Oly sighed and shook his head. Omari wasn't wrong... "Yeah. Not as fun." He chuckled lightly and tapped a finger to his lip. He had a couple ideas in mind for his twin, but he would need time to give them some solid consideration. Ah! Then Omari was taking the reigns and running off. "You bet I'm not letting you see, either!" he assured, darting off in the other direction. There was no single perfect gift, but he was sure that he would please his family with his choices!
