The perfect gift for Eudom would always be a new story or even some old book. The teen was easy to pick something for despite his grumpy appearance but he was not quite certain what one should get one girl, let alone a horde of them. Okay, so perhaps there wasn’t a horde but it was still a lot of sisters. Eudom could only imagine what humor the gods had when they created Vaani and her nearly identical sisters. To think that their mother had so many daughters all at the same time! He truly had been surprised when he first encountered them and was still in disbelief that it had been real and not a trick of the spirits! Still, he was thankful for their help getting the tintural to his farm and he had even received some soup from Vaani. So it was only courteous for him to send something back their way. But what did Vaani like? Did she like ribbons or shiny trinkets like the other girls he had seen shopping in the markets? She had worn her hair in little braids that had seemed cute when they first met. So surely ribbons would be useful but it didn’t feel like enough. Or was it practical enough even? If he just got those for Vaani what about the others? Such a big family surely something more like food or extra clothing material could help out? Eudom knew that winter was coming up as well so it would be helpful if they needed warmer clothing or blankets. “I can do this.” Ever since he had gotten into a nasty fight with a wirenth the man had been wary of the deeper forests. Thankfully he had only received a scar down from his lower eye instead of losing the eye but it kept him alert as he made his rounds. Why should he allow one feral beast to completely terrify him forever? The dreaded thing was still out there though. Eudom shook his head with a frown. Surely he could still go hunting and get the family some furs or something. There were also plenty of extra vegetables and fruits growing at his farm now that harvest was over. Surely it would seem like scraps but it was better than hoarding everything for himself. And if they asked he could just say he had too much. It was far less embarrassing than admitting he had put some of his crops on the side especially for the girls.
“I also made some jams the other day.” Eudom nodded as he looked around the large summer kitchen his grandfather had built. It was separate from the house to keep out heat in the summer and protected them in case something caught on fire. There was a stone path between it and the actual house, the stone and sand built around the building intent upon stopping any potential outbreak should flames spread from the stove or something. It was a pain if there were deep snows in the winter since he would have to dig out the path but it was beneficial in the summer. There was still a smaller cooking area in the house itself even though it was simpler and easier to handle. Either way it was the summer kitchen that supplied Eudom with a large woven basket he had made earlier that summer. The Yaeli quickly filled it with several jars of jam, some fruits and vegetables from his farm and even included a bolt of spare cloth and some furs that he hadn’t been able to use. Eudom normally would have held onto such things but the vivid image of those girls, despite all of their hackling, kept him on task. Vaani was nice and he refused to be in anyone’s debt so here he went! Eudom nodded before packing up the basket, sealing it nicely with a fuschia colored ribbon with faint flower outlines that she could potentially use for her hair. Tying both ribbons on the handles that latched the basket lid down the teen prepared to throw on a coat and head out. He would personally deliver this to their doorstep and call it even. If she dropped anything else off then he would deal with it then! Not that he was hoping for anymore gifts or anything like that! Eudom shook his head before venturing forth towards the valley that connected their homes. Let’s just deliver this package and call it a day. He most definitely would not admit to spending a whole morning trying to decide on its contents either!
