Uniform: Will work with artist on this!
Attacks: Sailor Scout Attack: Loss
Alastor speaks the name of his attack and every enemy nearby will feel a sudden loss of hope, replaced instead with a strong sensation of despair. The area feels thick with gloom and misery and targets may feel as if there is suddenly an unbeatable obstacle they have no chance to overcome. Targets may feel absolute hopelessness and they may become acutely aware of the hardships and loss in their life. The magic does not cause physical damage but can be disorienting and emotionally draining. The magic lasts for thirty seconds and has three uses. It affects all enemies within a ten foot radius of Alastor and the magic will follow him if he moves, but the effects end if the character moves out of radius.
Super Sailor Scout Attack: Absence
Alastor speaks the name of his attack and every enemy nearby will feel a complete absence of hope, replaced instead with a strong sensation of despair. The area feels thick with gloom and misery and targets may feel as if there is suddenly an unbeatable obstacle they have no chance to overcome. Targets may feel absolute hopelessness and they may become acutely aware of the hardships and loss in their life. Eternal Sailor Attack: End of all Hope
Alastor speaks the name of his attack and every enemy nearby will feel an absolute hopelessness; pure despair will override nearly all emotion and thoughts and it is nearly impossible to focus on anything beyond the overwhelming misery. The air feels thick with gloom and melancholy and seems impossibly heavy, like it is crushing everyone within radius. Targets may feel as if there is suddenly an unbeatable obstacle they have no chance to overcome. Targets may become acutely aware of the hardships and loss in their life. The magic can make someone feel physically exhausted and can be disorienting and emotionally draining; as the despair sets in they may feel like the crushing weight of it all is bruising them or making it hard to breathe but all sensations end when out of radius or when the magic fades unless players choose otherwise. The magic has one use and lasts for 45 seconds. It affects all enemies within a fifteen foot radius of Alastor and the magic will follow him if he moves, but the effects end if the character moves out of radius.
Deep Space Senshi: Physical Features: Devyn could easily pass for a human;he does not appear to have any non-human features.
Backstory/History: Alastor, originally a world known for its internal and external warfaring, was generally not missed when it suddenly became inaccessible around the fall of the Silver Millennium. The Chaos that had infested the world had taken root long ago but no one saw the signs; the atmosphere became too thick to travel through and thick, dark clouds would often make it impossible to send messages or travel in or out.
The world was isolated but self-sustaining; Alastor itself didn’t start to decline until about seven hundred years ago. Even in better times, Alastor was notorious for bad rains and flooding, and as the Chaos consumed the life force of the world, so too did the planet’s natural stability. Crop yields began to decline and the population slowly began to dwindle.
Four hundred years ago, resources were slim and what kingdoms remained were at war, desperate for fertile land and safety from the storms. Two hundred years ago, none of that mattered anymore. There were so few left that they had to combine their strength and defend against the onslaught of strange shadows that seemed to strike when their guard was down.
Wherever the shadows touched, the world declined; a hundred years ago, the last known community had dwindled to nothing. Fifty years ago, the animal population was scarce, if not already extinct.
And, through it all, the Senshi remained.
Sailor Alastor awakened at a young age and was used to the rough and tumble Senshi life; he was determined to overcome the legacy of the previous senshi before him and bring in a new era for his world. He wanted to leave things better than when he inherited them and in his prime he made substantial progress in creating and sustaining alliances with other worlds and between the most hostile kingdoms on his world.
For a time, it looked as if he would leave the world in a peaceful state with the resources they needed to move away from their bloody legacy, but the spread of Chaos created an impossible obstacle. Shadows always seemed to watch, and move, and
take, and as the world declined, they grew stronger.
Sailor Alastor was determined to outlive the other Senshi before him, but he hadn’t anticipated outliving
everyone. He stopped aging shortly after the unprecedented loss of his soulmate and remained physically untouched by time from that point on. What family he had taken in for in his own aged around him, aged past him. They left the world before he did. And yet, Alastor persisted.
Surrender was unknown to him, and when he had nothing left he had the promise to leave his world better than when it was entrusted to him. He did what he could to protect his people, but the Chaos was so deeply ingrained in the world that no matter how hard he fought, it couldn’t sustain them. He continued to push on, convinced that there must be others on his world–just in hiding from the shadows that would have swallowed them up. He could
see them, could
hear them. Or, he thought he did.
He thought a lot of things, and in the solitude of his world he began to forget most of them. He concocted a better version of reality, one where there was still hope. His mind fabricated a more pleasant place and time to live in, and he settled into a comfortable delusion that gave him the strength to carry on. If he could just contact his old allies, just reach his soulmate, he knew he could overcome the Chaos and save his world. So, he chose to forget what he lost, and push forward.
The Chaos on his world grew more powerful, and shadows thrived. Dark clouds and horrible storms covered the world. He was an Eternal Senshi. And then a Super Senshi. And then a Basic Senshi.
His world had the power to keep him alive but it was weakening.
And then, in the darkness, a light shined through.
Brief, and flickering. It could have been an illusion if he hadn’t
felt it.
It was the first
real hope he’d had in a while, and even though he didn’t understand it, he accepted it. He welcomed it.
He just hoped he could find the strength he needed to save his world before the darkness swallowed it up.
