Quote:
Prompt 5 (Ice Bath): Rainfall is rare in Destiny City during Winter; there have been a few light showers between the occasional snow but it’s never been enough to be significant. In some places, it’s just enough for a thin layer of ice to cover the ground and make it a little slippery, but ultimately it’s not enough to worry about. In an inconspicuous place in town, you step into one of these icy puddles and the thin layer of ice shatters. The hole itself seems maybe three feet wide and if you’ve ever been in the area before you know it’s just a pothole a few inches deep at most. Except, when the ice shatters, you fall, plummeting into it as if it were a lake of icy water. It’s pitch black around you and only pale blue lights shimmer above you. The darkness is never ending and you can’t make out the details of anything except the shrinking hole above you. Maybe you remember how to swim and pull yourself out, maybe you black out and feel someone else pulling you out--either way, your frozen, soaking body is pulled from the puddle. The chill is immense, but if you look at the hole after being pulled out, all you can see is the ground below. There’s no sign that what you just experienced is real--except for the fact that you’re still soaking wet.

Cleeia was still shivering, from his terrible encounter with being dunked under ice. He'd gotten a little ways away, by then, to somewhere where he could sit down, and he was regretting coming out in this weather in his skimpy little fuku. Sure, being powered up, he'd noticed, provided him some resistance against the heat or cold, but clearly it wasn't enough when he'd been dropped in magical water so frigid it left him practically frozen.

This sucked. And frankly, if his luck held, he was going to be menaced by someone on the other side. Because any time something awful happened to him, someone way stronger showed up to try and kick his a**.

Helena paused when she saw that corrupted senshi, frowning slightly as her eyes took in his wet hair and clothes. She pursed her lips and raised a brow, hands moving down to her hips. “You do know that it’s cold, don’t you? Why did you think it’s a good idea to just go out and be cold?”

The senshi didn’t have any way to help but maybe if she nagged…he would go home and dry off. Not that it was her problem but. “You’re going to end up in the hospital with hypothermia. Why did you think it would be a good idea to go swimming?’ It felt as though she were scolding a child, but…seriously. He would die in this weather. “...Can you…if I turn around and close my eyes, can you power down and back up? You might be dry then, and you won’t die as easily, I bet.”

Well. At least the person that turned up wasn't way stronger than him. That was something. But the way she was lecturing made him shrivel up and want to bite back, except that he was freezing and miserable and huddled up in a ball to protect himself.

"I d-didn't m-mean to go s-swimming," Cleeia said, voice shaking as his teeth chattered and his body shuddered with chills. "I f-fell in this...weird p-puddle, I think it was s-some kind of n-nasty magic. I thought I was g-gonna die, but s-something pulled me out, I g-guess."

He took a deep, but shaky breath. Her suggestion was probably the most reasonable he'd heard, since he couldn't teleport and home was a long way away, so he frowned over at her briefly, narrowing his eyes slightly. Powering up and back down would be good, probably, since it would definitely restore his uniform, and maybe he could drop the jacket he was wearing as Constantin behind him and wrap it around himself as Cleeia as a little extra protection.

"S-swear you won't look," he said, finally. "I can't--I'll g-get in trouble if you find out who I am."

Helena huffed in annoyance and walked over to the corrupt, removing her glasses and holding them to his eyes, allowing him to see for himself just how dreadfully abysmal her eyesight was, and when that point had been made, she placed the glasses into her subspace pocket and stepped back to where she was, sitting down, her back to him, hands going up to cover her eyes. “I swear that I will not look. Your secrets are safe with me, and dying right before the Holidays would just…”

She sighed. “Isn’t that worse than getting into trouble? Getting dead is something that you can’t recover from, after all.”

And honestly, she knew that Mirzam would be upset if she allowed someone in black to just freeze to death…and she didn’t want her Mirzam to be upset…no, not at all.

Cleeia blinked. Wow, her vision really was terrible--it made his eyes cross to look through her glasses, and reminded him of how bad his own vision was in civilian form.

"T-thanks," he said, and he flashed her a smile, even though he knew she couldn't see it. His whole body felt awful, achey and cold, and this seemed like the best solution.

So he moved a little, to get some extra space to hide, and then he powered down, dropped his jacket, and powered back up, and he was in his uniform, and a normal amount of cold for what he was wearing. He threw his jacket on, and moved back to her and sat down, and smiled a little warily.

"Okay," he said, taking a still-slightly-shivery breath, "I'm good now."

Helena hummed softly, thinking it so very odd when the feeling of the senshi no longer was there, but then popped up again. She drew her glasses back out of her subspace packet and turned around again, nodding. “You look a little warmer. Are you going to be all right? I don’t think Mirzam would like it if I did not offer you assistance.”

And honestly, she had done all that she really could but.

Reaching back into her subspace pocket, Helena drew out a bag of Hershey’s Kisses, holding it out to him. “Here. It won’t warm you up, but as I say to everyone, Chocolate makes everything better.” Her eyes were on him, taking in everything she could, hoping that he wasn’t going to end up freezing to death.

Cleeia blinked, at the name Helena invoked. Then, a broad grin spread across his face.

"Oh, I am so stupid, you must be Helena!" It felt like a weight lifted off his shoulders--of course she'd been nice, and he should have recognized that much sooner, because the hat really was sort of a dead giveaway. "Sorry, that must seem weird--I'm Cleeia. Mirzam's my older sister. She talks about you all the time."

He took the chocolate, pulling a few out of the bag and then offering it back to her. "Thanks, seriously. I just....wasn't thinking, I guess? Brain freeze and all."

Blinking, Helena looked surprised, but then utterly pleased. Her cheeks grew warm at the thought that Mirzam spoke of her. To her family no less. It was overwhelming, and quite…wonderful.

“She speaks of me? Good things, I hope? She hasn’t mentioned you, but that is because I know I talk a lot, and I’m quite needy too. I’m glad that you’re thinking again. That’s important that your brain is defrosting a little! She really wouldn't forgive me if I let her little brother die of freezing.”

And she hadn’t either. She had helped him, as best she could…and now she was sure to get a reward from her Mistress when they met again…ah…now that was the greatest thought ever.

“I…didn’t try to help you because of her, I mean. I didn’t know you knew her. So please don’t think I was just trying to be a suck up.”

Cleeia sighed contentedly as he popped one of the chocolates into his mouth. He nodded, a little, and shrugged his shoulders.

"She'll tell me I'm a moron if she ever hears about this, but she;ll mean it in the best way, where she's worried about me, you know?" He shook his head, but he was grinning. "And even if you did help me just to suck up to my sister, you still helped me, you know? I don't wanna question people's motives when it keeps me from dying."

As far as Cleeia was concerned, that was a perfectly reasonable way to live.

He stood up, and frowned faintly. "Now hat I'm a little warmer, I sohuld probably head home," he said. "Avoid any other accidents or anything. It was good to meet you, though!"

Helena nodded and gave a little smile, thrusting her hand out towards the corrupt. “Please drink hot chocolate when you get home. And take a bath too. And then just. Cover up in blankets. Pretend you’re a worm and you’re hiding from a bird. Only the bird is the cold. It’ll help.”

She nodded solemnly and then smiled, flushing slightly.

“...please tell your sister that I am doing what I’m told, and I enjoy it very much. And that I miss her…please? If it isn’t too much to ask for.” And if it was too much to ask for…he should do it anyway. It wasn’t so difficult a task, after all.”

Cleeia laughed at her analogy and nodded. "Yeah, I'll do that. Thanks," he said.

He blinked at her request, but he supposed it was the least he could do.

"I'll tell her. Stay safe!" Cleeia gave her a little wave, and turned to jog off into the night.

It was, in fact, time to go home and warm up.
