They were on a huge ship, on a vast sea, on a distant planet. They were sipping mocktails and eating homemade Egyptian pastries. It was a fantastic, joyous scene. The four Knights had come together, one by one, and proven to get along well. The habitually deadpan Asphodel had a persistent little smirk on his face and the stirrings of a sparkle in his eyes. It was a party. They were celebrating being traitors. They were getting along so well because they were all the same flavor of angry. Each of them had lost something to the Negaverse that they would never get back. And each of them had given more to the Negaverse than they could ever be forgiven for. They could have an entire conversation about that, simply by exchanging a glance. Even Siegfried, who had lost his Negaverse memories, was easily acknowledged in this way. "Thanks for hosting," Asphodel told him. "And for the refreshments," he nodded to Lourdes and Saqqara. "So," He grinned, widely, revealing a set of crowded and crooked teeth. One was missing on the upper right side. "Who's ready to get this Brigade started?"

To be fair, Siegfried wasn't exactly sure how he'd managed to get tasked with hosting the gathering. Not that he didn't want to, of course, but he sort of thought most people just sort of... ignored his existence. Beyond Albireo, of course.
But here he was, with three others who'd left the Negaverse, same as he, for greener pastures. Sieg couldn't remember most of his life as part of the Negaverse, though that didn't seem to deter any of them. It was odd, having a group of people, of Knights, he could call his friends. Odd but... nice.
Siegfried tipped his mocktail to Asphodel and smiled. "Hey, it wasn't like anyone else was using this space, after all. It's far more lively with you guys here," he replied with a gentle shrug. He'd stripped from of his heavier outer tunic, and rolled his under tunic's sleaves up to the elbows. Albireo had graciously helped him pull his hair into something more respectable instead of letting it fly all over the place, and the good Captain of the Siegfried looked rather relaxed. There was something about having people on his wonder, voices filling the quiet air, that felt very... right. The Siegfried was never meant to only house one soul, after all.
"So... what's this whole Brigade thing about, beyond helping those who've left the Negaverse?" Why yes Siegfried did indeed live under a rock and was unfamiliar with the whole court and brigade thing.

"A Brigade's an organized group of Knights," explained Asphodel. "Forming one gives us access to more magic. More resources." He took a sip of his drink, and sniffed a bit. "More power. I want to put that power in the hands of people who know how best to use it." He gave a meaningful look to the other three Knights present. "And I think the people best equipped to beat the Negaverse are the people who know how the Negaverse thinks. How they fight." He gave a pointed look to Siegfried, again. "Your mind not recall anything right now, but I'm sure your body does. That's useful. And there might be some way to get some of your memories back. So, yes, supporting defectors is part of the mission, but the ultimate goal is banding together and making use of our experiences to give Metallia as many problems as we can."

Saqqara was content. She had food in her belly, a roof over her (still-vaguely-discombobulated) head, a next door neighbor that made sure she didn't turn into a lump, a job, and... friends? Not to mention a bunch of things she had stolen from... well... herself... that gave her some small insight into the woman she had been. And a ring on her finger that had been given her by her Wonder. Truly, this was everything a woman needed to survive. Probably. The food and friends helped, anyways. She tossed another fig into her mouth, bright eyes flickering back and forth between their social host and Wonder-host. "Power and resources are a good start." she agreed easily, perusing the plate of fruits and veggies and cheeses, debating if she wanted one of the falafel she'd made, or one of the small hawawshi pockets... Maybe another bite of the basbousa? Hmmmm. Maybe she had gone overboard on the snack foods, but it had felt... comforting. Her kitchen had smelled familiar. "You can count me in for being a problem." she selected a bit of konafa and chomped down on it next, looking out over the view. "I believe I was very good at that. And it certainly seems more fun than fear-driven obedience."

Lourdes, even as Hopeite, had never been a particularly good listener. Especially when there were infinitely more interesting things to look at an interact with. This was, after all, a ship at sail in a vast endless sea. It made Lourdes crave those old romantic pirate novels she's read as a girl. Maybe she'd dig them back out and relive some old memories. She was sure that they would be around her old storage locker, right? To be fair, she had just chucked s**t into a box, never really caring what she packed as long as she packed it. The mocktail in her hands clinked gently as she thought, gazing out at the endless brilliant sea of a planet that should not have been able to support life... but here they were. Yes. Here they were. Here they all were, Lourdes grinned, raising her glass to her lips but forgetting to drink. Here they all were as brilliant and endless as the sea that cradled them. The speaking behind Lourdes drew her eyes and her attention. "We'll need more than magical resources," Lourdes chipped in, finally sipping her mocktail between thoughts. "Magic and power are all well as good, but as we saw with Saqqara, we'll need money too. I've been dabbling in stocks, and I've accrued a rather... immodest sum already. Perhaps that will help. But as for good trouble, I'm always down to make some. A brigade our brave leader wants," she raised her glass to Asphodel, "then a brigade they shall have. What's are the first steps?"

He gave a nod and chuckled. His body most definitely remembered what he was capable of as a General, even if his brain did not, and he was very good at what he did. Power and resources were a plus too; stars above knew that Siegfried didn't have a whole lot of the latter. The music store he worked at now paid okay - enough for the apartment he and Livi rented and living - but it wasn't exactly something that could fund if they wanted children or to move.
"I can be a very good problem. I can't add much for funds - Lourdes has that covered I see - but I hit like absolute truck. Plus I can help teach kickboxing as needed," he said, gesturing to Lourdes and the group as a whole.
He raised a glass to Asphodel in turn. "So it is, so it shall be, or some formal nonsense. What should we do first?"

The mention of money brought out a visible glint in Asphodel's eyes. "Lourdes, you're two steps ahead of the game already," he said approvingly. "Besides the basic operations I've written out for you all, we have priorities to consider. The first priority is money. We need enough to keep ourselves on stable footing in Destiny City, and offer the same stability to anyone else who defects. I don't know about you all, but I don't like having to do all this work part-time." The annoyance on his face was clear, even through the drapes. All the same, he crossed his arms thoughtfully. "There's also plenty we could do if we're able to buy up some properties, but that's a long term goal. So, if you want to handle the treasury, Lourdes... by all means. Make our sums as immodest as you can." He grinned his crooked little grin, then turned back to Siegfried. "If you can combat train, that's good for alliances as well as internal affairs. How about you seek out some joint training sessions with any other Courts or Brigades that are around? Or even just individual actors who feel unprepared. If you can arrange something powered down, even better. Discreet, and training with a handicap pays off." The Saturn Knight paused to enjoy another bite of food. Frankly, Saqqara had been spoiling him since she became his neighbor. She always seemed to have food, even when she was in a panic because she'd forgotten how to tie her shoes, or how a washing machine worked. "Delicious," he complimented. "And Saqqara... you've been in the Negaverse longer than all of us, and you left the most recently. That means you have the most knowledge to offer. Once you feel stable and up to it, I'm hoping you can help the rest of us catch up on what we've missed. That also makes you our best candidate for outreach. Maybe pair up with Siegfried and put some education into some of those trainings."

I can be a very good problem…Lourdes chuckled at her friend’s quip, raising a glass to him as she did so. They were all, she was quickly finding out, very good at making very good trouble. They’d all made the worst kind of trouble in just leaving. And maybe they were just little waves lapping at the horrible shore of the negaverse but… evena tsunami starts as just an ebbing of the tide. And if they could just ebb it enough… get enough souls saved… what a tsunami they could bring to the shores of the negaverse. “We love good trouble,” she murmured with a wink. Lourdes smiled at Asphodel's approval, intending to do exactly that even if she hadn't been instructed to do so. Dreams were nice, after all, but they were expensive. And as much as the younger soldiers wanted to believe that dreams and love and light would save the world, Lourdes knew money would never not be helpful. She’d done well enough for herself since she’d purified, and the White Moon did have some resources, but not nearly the network of support that the Negaverse had. Infrastructurally, lgociastically, it would far easier to corrupt than it was to purify. The negaverse had jobs, housing, even counselors lined up to catch new souls. All of it in the business of ensnaring souls, but… it was support of a kind. Support that the White Moon, as of that moment, just did not have. At least not yet. "Secretary Treasurer Lourdes has a lovely ring, I think," she confirmed, finally drinking from her glass. "As for training, I have pitifully little. Street scraps as a Lieutenant where I was soundly beaten back down don't really count I don't think. I could use some kick boxing lessons or whatever else someone can teach me." Yes… This was all falling into place beautifully. Plans were being made. Good plans. Solid plans. Plans for a future that Lourdes had not seen for herself even a year ago. If she got misty-eyed at the thought of it, at the beauty of Seigfried’s wonder and the love she as suddenly surrounded with… well then that was Lourdes’ business. The point was that she went home that evening with a full heart and bright eyes.
