[Backdated to November 21]
A summons from the Queen.
The very thought of it thrilled Mirzam--perhaps she ought to have been nervous, or concerned, but she could think of nothing that she had done to warrant Laurelite's disfavor, and so it was hard to see this as anything but a sign that she had pleased the highest authority within the Negaverse.
Oh, that was a very, very nice thought. Mirzam didn't like to think of herself as someone unduly obsessed with others' approval, especially not that of authority figures, but there was something quite special about this, she thought. And so she arrived at the office as quickly as she could, and knocked on the door, and tried not to shiver with anticipation.
"Your Majesty? Sailor Mirzam, as requested."

Laurelite’s office was used, certainly, but it was different from the other offices. In many ways, it hadn’t changed since she had been a General Queen, but the major difference was simply that she didn’t often spend most of her time here. She was in the Throne Room, with Metallia, in the Rift, or just somewhere else. Her office was like a distant home to her, and sometimes she had the luxury of returning to its comfort. Sometimes, even, she shared it. “Come in,” she called, voice pleasant and charming. She didn’t have to work hard to make it carry through the door, thick as it was, and soft spoken as she often seemed to be. She had a project in front of her--starseeds, in various states of decay or breakage, and little crystals that seemed to be radiating energy. She did not bother to hide this, but her attention immediately shifted to Mirzam as she entered. “I hope I’m not disturbing you. I’ve been listening to the General Sovereigns and your name came up. I wanted to meet you.”

The request was so polite, so pleasant, and yet it carried so much weight and authority. Someday, Mirzam hoped that she might be able to command like that. She doubted she would ever see Laurelite's heights of power, but if she could earn her hip-wings someday, perhaps she could command it on a smaller scale.
Not that such a thing seemed to be coming any time soon.
She stepped through the door, and eyed the starseeds and crystals on Laurelite's desk with interest. Still, she held her tongue; there was no knowing how much curiosity and interest would be tolerated, and how much would be seen as overstepping her bounds.
She bowed, as seemed only polite in the presence of a Queen.
"Not at all, Your Majesty," she said, as she straightened. "It's a pleasant surprise to hear my name has made it all the way to your ears, and an honor to meet you one on one."

“Of course,” she smiled, and nodded towards one of the seats before her desk. “You’re more than welcome to make yourself comfortable. I used to be able to walk about so freely, now there’s so much that demands my attention.” She sighed, but still seemed in a good mood. “I do miss being able to converse so openly. But, I suppose I keep busy. I would never reject Metallia’s hopes for me. Although, that does lead me to our topic for the evening.”
She smiled sweetly, and sat up a little straighter. “I’d like to discuss your future. How do you feel you’re doing in the Negaverse. Are you happy, are you feeling like you’re meeting your goals?”

Mirzam took the offer to make herself comfortable, taking a seat and folding her hands in her lap.
"I imagine running the entire Negaverse must mean quite a lot of paperwork," she said. "Running a bookstore is more than enough of that for me." She laughed, softly, and hoped Laurelite didn't find the comparison offensive.
"I can say, though, that I am very happy in the Negaverse," she said. "I consider myself very lucky to have been brought in. It's given me opportunities I never could have imagined. So...very much so, yes."

Laurelite’s expression displayed no frustration or upset at the comparison. If anything, it seemed to give her a decent understanding of Mirzam. In a way, the Negaverse was a business, and she supposed Mirzam must have wanted her bookstore to thrive in the way that Laurelite wanted the Negaverse to. She wanted Mirzam to want that for the Negaverse, too. “I’m so glad to hear that,” she said, in that sweet, easy-going voice of hers. “Would you be opposed, then, if I told you that I wanted to ask a bit more of you? It’s not a punishment. On the contrary, I’d like to see you with a bit more power. Would you object to a promotion?”

Mirzam's heart leapt. The simple request brought a smile to her lips, and she shook her head, quickly.
"I would absolutely not object, Your Majesty. In fact, I would be honored, especially that you took such an interest in me yourself." This was...beyond what she had imagined. Laurelite herself thought that Mirzam was worthy of more power.
Certainly no one would ever be able to deny that she was, if the Queen herself thought so.

It was the right answer. Laurelite smiled sweetly. “Well, I’ve had a bit of free time, recently. It’s given me the opportunity to be a bit more involved with things. It helps that we have such thorough records. Come, let me get the hard part over. We can talk more afterwards, if you like.” There was still something of a question in her voice, like she was giving Mirzam the opportunity to direct how this happened. And yet, Laurelite was determined to get it done quickly. Standing before Mirzam, she straightened, and reached a hand over her chest. Her fingers pressed against her, into her. They wrapped around her starseed. When Mirzam was ready, she pushed the Chaos into her–expertly, but not painlessly. The price of power was painful, but fleeting.

The hard part. Yes, Mirzam supposed she could imagine that the actual increase in power would be the hard part. Certainly it hadn't been easy to be corrupted; that had burned through her chest, made her hurt, and she would never forget it.
She doubted she would ever forget this, either.
She squared her shoulders, and gave Laurelite a sharp nod.
"I'm ready," she said, though it was hardly necessary.
She grit her teeth against the burn of more Chaos pouring into her starseed. brought her arms behind her back, and dug her nails into the skin--until she felt them change, like she had gotten the finest manicure the Negaverse had to offer.
She when it was over, she took a deep breath, and smiled.

"Thank you," she said. "I hope I can live up to your expectations."
