Starlight didn’t need to be out alone. He shouldn’t have been, probably. With everything that had already happened earlier this month, it would have been safer for him to go out with Newgrange or Whisler, but--this was just a quick run to the store and back. He’d only powered up because he was sure he’d seen a youma and he thought it was better safe than sorry. He was working on a project and needed some comfort snacks, and he’d told Aeleas that he was going to share with her so he didn’t want to be out for long, but--
Somewhere on his radar, he sensed a Corrupted Senshi.
He couldn’t see them but he felt them, and--
That meant he couldn’t get home until he lost them. There wasn’t really anywhere to hide around here, so he knew he’d have to find somewhere to slip away and power down--hopefully without drawing their attention.
...Or being left in front of them, defenseless without his Wonder’s blessing.

Knights were really nothing more than...undercooked Negaverse agents. Just as White Moon Senshi were just Corrupts waiting to happen...but. The last Knight that Lazurite had run into had left a sour taste in her mouth, and the echo of fear in her heart. This one though...he was the same strength as she was so…
So maybe he would be more receptive!
Quietly, she walked up to the blue and purple clad Page, waving and giving a pleased grin. “Hey there! It’s a lovely night, isn’t it?”
A lovely night to pledge your loyalty to the right cause, obviously.
Jet would be ever so proud of her if she was able to bring two people over!

Lightning shot down Starlight’s spine and her words felt like someone had just thrown ice on him. “Yeah,” he answered reluctantly. He didn’t want trouble and he almost opened his mouth to say as much but he had the feeling that maybe it might just make people perceive him as weak. Or something. What did he know? His mind was moving a mile a minute and he just wanted to go home.
It probably would have been rude if he just walked away after that--especially because she could still follow him, and he really didn’t want his back to her.
“...So far,” he added, because he didn’t want to just stand around staring at her. “...Hoping it stays that way.”

Lazurite nodded and forced a grin. “Ah…yup! So. Why are you a Knight? Don’t you know that you’d be a lot better off with the Negaverse?”
There, if that wasn’t a recruitment speech, she didn’t know what was. It wasn’t a good one, sure…but ah. Hey. This was just something that she was trying out.
“I mean, it would save you a lot of trouble later on, don’t you think? And if you agree, I can call someone right now to bring you in! You’ll be taken care of I promise. You and I could be friends!”
If he said no…well.
That would be fine too.

Starlight stared at her for a few seconds and tried not to swallow. “I actually have a lot going on in my life right now, I really don’t want to just...drop that. Like. Things are going good for the first time in, like. Forever. I’m not looking for a career change or anything so if you could…not...call someone in, that would be great.”
He felt like he had a lump in his throat and his stomach was twisting in knots.
“I’m not trying to be rude or anything. I just don’t think I’m cut out for, uh. The Negaverse. I’m being taken care of now, so...That’s okay, right? Can we raincheck?”
...Or never bring it up again?

Lazurite closed her eyes for a moment, and then opened them again, forcing a smile. Honestly? It looked rather painful. “Look, dude. I don’t want to have to force you into this, but I will. So like, choosing to come is your best bet.” She shrugged and took another step towards him.
“It’s a great place, and just think! Once everyone does the right thing and corrupts…we won’t have to ever fight anymore! Doesn’t that just…isn’t that just better?”
She was going to have to call someone, wasn’t she? This was going to get messy and most likely this guy would end up turning traitor ********. Jet would kill him and just. Far too messy.
“Last chance! You can still say yes…it’ll be bad if you don’t!” Please, blonde knight boy. This was obviously for your own good. Just…just do it.
“We can be friends!”

Okay, that wasn’t a real smile. Starlight’s heart skipped a beat and his stomach felt like it had flipped upside down. She took another step towards him so he instinctively took another step backwards and wondered if he could outrun her.
“You’re the only one picking a fight right now, I just want to go home. I’m really not feeling good tonight. I think I’m going to throw up. I’m really, really not in a good place right now.”
He had no weapon, no magic. His heart was pounding just from what he’d seen earlier in the month and he was scared. She didn’t look so intimidating on her own, she had no weapon. But she had magic, and he didn’t know what it was, or what she could do.
“Joining you isn’t going to fix that,” he added quickly. “We can be friends! But I need to go home. I’ll think about your offer, okay? But I can’t tonight, sorry. I have plans.”
Like getting home. His knees bent, he was ready to run. He just didn’t want to turn his back to her.

Lazurite gave a heavy sigh, annoyed that her olive branch had been so badly spurned but…
“Fine. Think on it. But I’ll get you on my side the next time, knightling. And we’ll be friends, and that will be that. Now.” So she didn’t look like a complete idiot…
“Sweet Drop!” She tossed the magic towards the knight, hitting a tree that was near to him. “Until we meet again. Remember my words, and my offer.” Lazurite hesitated and let her voice grow sweeter, more gentle. “We truly want you with us, just so you know. I won’t let you get hurt, I promise.”
She watched the blonde for another minute before running off, half hoping that her magic would soften him for next time. Half hoping that there would be a next time and he would be rocking a black variant of his outfit then.
Jet would be so proud.

Oh! He was going to live! He was going to get out of this alive, and he could go home, and everything would be fine, and…
She used her magic and he expected the worst, but when instead he just found that he was completely distracted by a sweet aroma in the air, all of his concerns sort of just fogged up in his mind. It was hard to remember her words and he could still feel her aura, but…
He didn’t want to leave his home. He had a family now. A real one. And he was only just now getting to the point where he thought as much in his head
Her energy signature faded. The smell faded.
Starlight stared, confused, at the tree for a few seconds before he took off running in the other direction. When he was sure he was alone, he powered down--and kept running.
