Anming’s ‘project’ had been ambitious enough, but once more she accidentally set herself up for failure. Anming had wanted to make cookies for Anser, as her way of showing appreciation for the other senshi’s kindness. She had ordered goose cookie cutters online, made a couple batches of different flavored cookies, and was, largely, satisfied with the results, and could only hope her new friend did as well. The problems started, though, when she was ready to deliver them; once more, it occurred to Anming that she knew absolutely nothing about who Anser was outside of her powered identity, nor did she know where the other girl lived. Just as equally, though, Anming wanted to do this without powering up, as she was hoping to avoid having to do so for a time; also, of course she would prefer to avoid powering up in the middle of the daytime. That was well and all, but it failed to take into account one little thing- the glamour in place that protected their identities from accidentally being revealed. How would she know how to find Anser among the rest of Destiny City’s inhabitants? Certainly she couldn’t go asking about it directly without giving herself away, and there wasn’t a particularly roundabout way to be vague about it, either, or at least not a good one. She was looking for someone who helped her out a couple of weeks ago, of which she knew neither their name nor address? … And she couldn’t give out more details than that? Reality really began to settle in, of how little she thought this through, as she stepped off the bus at the metro station, a bag full of boxes of carefully packed cookies clutched in her hands. To add insult to injury, it wasn’t until she was staring blankly at the transit map, trying to deduce which route she should take, that Anming realized… she had misplaced her fare card. Could things get any worse? she glumly wondered to herself, as she sadly shuffled her way over to the nearest ticket machine. She really should have gotten around to downloading the app, though knowing her luck, she’d then proceed to misplace her phone… again.

Or perhaps, Anming's luck would actually get to change a bit today. Was she a senior in high school? Absolutely. Was she applying to schools -- already got into DCU on early admission, technically, so she wasn't sure she cared anymore -- and was supposed to be acting like an adult now? Definitely. Was it probably risky to leave dance practice and immediately henshin up so she could get home faster? Oh, probably. And yet. Did one Transcendent Super Sailor Anser, Senshi of Geese, care a whole lot about risks or acting mature or anything like that? Debatable. Anming didn't know Raina Araya, but she did know Sailor Anser, and that was the adolescent currently slipping through the crowds near the bus stop as she debated a good place to power down and continue her way back to the apartment she shared with her mother. There were, naturally, several people nearby, though none that she recognized due to glamour -- the girl slumping her shoulders and walking away from the transit map didn't look familiar, for one -- and Anser was an expert at weaving through them with little effort. Most of the people who looked at her just determined that she must have been one of those costume-wearing cosplayers, or something-- "Think I see a good alleyway over there--"

Having purchased a new fare pass, Anming had been prepared to go downstairs and wait for the next train; to where, she still wasn't sure. That was before she heard the murmurs of there being 'another one of those cosplayers running around', and Anming turned around just in time to catch a glimpse of a familiar fuku, and familiar markings. Anser? The train could wait. Anming, hoping that no one would pay her much mind, attempted to catch up with Anser, trying not to lose sight of the teen. Thank goodness she dressed practically... though, it was more of a hurried walk than anything, as she wished not to draw too much attention to herself. Or damage the cookies she still carried with her. "Ah, excuse me, please wait--!" Anming called out, as Anser ducked into a nearby alleyway. Did she miss her chance? She realized Anser wouldn't recognize her in this state, but powering up would definitely draw too much unwanted attention...

Anser ducked into the alleyway, preparing herself to dehenshin so she could proceed home, but the sound of someone trying to get her attention distracted her from that. Her eyes widened slightly as she paused. Oh, was there a need for a sailor senshi? Was there a youma afoot? She couldn't feel any youma or anyone of Chaos nearby, but maybe she would have the chance to do something more like the superheroes of comedies and save a cat from a tree-- She cut her thoughts off as she swirled around and gave a wide, bright grin. Yeah, that was definitely Anser, alright-- "What's up?" asked Anser, brightly. She was small. Very small. Maybe she couldn't reach something. Anser could definitely reach things. Including cats. Or maybe she was recognized? That could be a possibility, too, although she wasn't sure why anyone would recognize her in this form. Or was this another senshi? Maybe this was another senshi and she wanted to introduce herself, that could be cool-- "Need help with anything?"

“I, ah,” Anming suddenly felt very awkward, as she tried to piece together the right words. Was she interrupting Anser from anything? Suddenly she began to feel a little worried. “I wanted to thank you. For the kindness you showed me awhile back… that night, during the battle on the hill, and also on the moon. I, well…” She presented the bag to Anser, because she wasn’t really sure what to say next. Why was saying ‘thank you’ so difficult to get across all of a sudden? Perhaps it was because it had to do with her powered life. “I thought about writing a note, and giving it to a cat to give to you, but I thought that was too informal…” she explained, awkwardly, “And also… a little impolite? I do a lot of baking, so…” Well, Anser could figure out what Anming meant, once she looked inside the bag, hopefully.

The other girl seemed very nervous, but that was okay; when it came to being able to help other people, Anser could be very patient. She waited, her brows rising in surprise when she was offered a thanks, of all things -- thanks for her service, no doubt, but then it was also a doubt because it was thanks for the kindness shown on the hill and on the moon -- Oh!Anser was never quite used to how suddenly the concept of glamour shattered, but it did, and she realized the girl she was looking at was not some random person on the street but rather someone she cheerfully addressed as "Min!" because saying anything else might be saying too much and she couldn't risk that the walls had ears. Of course, she made the presumption that the walls didn't have eyes, and after doing a quick check to make sure no one else in the vicinity might have even been looking in their direction, Sailor Anser became Raina Araya. That was when she took the bag of cookies. "Oh, sweet! I don't mind informality at all but baking is even better. Pretty sure that's how a lot of my brother's in-laws show love." Raina couldn't help her laugh, followed by a more sincere, warm, "You didn't have to do that," and yet, she was eagerly taking the bag of cookies anyway. "Did you eat any of them? You should get to try your baking too--" Her words were cut off as she looked into the bag and gasped audibly when she realized she was looking at, "Goose cookies!!"

“Oh! Um, yes, sometimes,” Anming said, still a little awkward, but also, she had begun to allow herself relax a little, now that Anser had recognized her, “I go to culinary school, and they have us try each other’s dishes to judge them…” Also, because of how easily she could get distracted and misplace things, she did try some of the cookies just to make certain she didn’t get anything mixed up… though she didn’t mention that bit. “I hope you like them- I made a few different kinds, because I didn’t know what you liked. They didn’t have anything goose-shaped in the places I shop at, so I bought some cute cookie cutters online…” Well, technically they were for fondant, but it had worked out just as well in the end, so Anming was fine with referring to them as ‘cookie cutters’ because it made more sense in the context of the current topic of conversation.

Minkowski but in her civilian form seemed to be calming down a bit now, which was good; Raina had to guess she was probably nervous about the whole giving her friend a cookie gift to thank her things-- "Oh, you go to culinary school? Bet these are dope!" All the people who went to culinary school were certainly better bakers than she was, and that was always the truth. There were times she put ramen in the microwave and forgotten she had done it, leaving cold noodles by the time she remembered it existed, nevermind things like baking pretty goose cookies. She eagerly grabbed one of them and with eyes shining, she bit right into one of their heads. Best to get the cute part over with quickly she figured-- "Oh, these are good--" she quickly placed her hand near her lips so Minkowski but Not didn't have to watch her chew. "What are the flavors? Also I super love the effort you put in for the shape; didn't have to!" But it was quite clear Raina appreciated it, nevertheless. She took another bite of the cookie and let out a happy hum.

"Y... yes, I suppose I got a little carried away," Anming admitted, sounding sheepish; certainly it had occurred to her within the last few hours as to how overly ambitious she had been about this project. "I guess... I wanted to do something more than just write a thank you note, but I also didn't want to just make ordinary cookies." One thing led to another, basically, and resulted in where they were at now. Or, alternatively, she meant well, it was just that she meant too well. "I made sugar cookies, but I also made chocolate, red velvet, and, ah, since it's so close to the holidays, gingerbread, too...? I thought... it would be nice to have options, in case you didn't like a certain kind," she told Raina, though she was aware that she probably sounded like she was making excuses for how overboard she went, and then. "I'm sorry, I'm rambling and I haven't told you my name; I'm Anming."

Raina let out a dismissive noise at how carried away the Minkowski who wasn't had gotten; she didn't have to do it, no, but carried away wasn't the right term for it, she thought. This was still super nice and it wasn't too much, just more than anything Raina might have ever asked for, not that she would have ever thought to ask-- "Guess this one is one of the sugar--," she said, with her mouth full, realizing afterward she should probably cover her mouth again. She did, tipping the bag slightly but not enough to accidentally spill anything as she took a look at the other cookies she saw. Thought she saw a red velvet in there -- oh, and there was a gingerbread! "All flavors are Gucci, honestly," she swallowed, offering a proper grin, "and that means there's enough to share, so if you want another one--" A gift to her, and Raina was still there, offering some of the cookies back. Didn't seem fair to just eat in front of her, anyway-- "Don't worry about rambling. Sometimes I talk a lot too." Raina's brows knit, before she more cheerfully offered, "Raina! Raina Araya. I think it's good to know each other as civilians. Means it's easier to keep an eye on each other. Gotta have each other's backs in this trash fire." Raina held the bag out toward Anming, almost expecting her to take one of the cookies out of it.

“Ah, yes, I… suppose,” Anming mused; she didn’t necessarily disagree, it was just, well, something that hadn’t come up often, “It’s been a while since I’ve known who someone was both powered up and, well… not powered, to be honest.” Long enough to where she didn’t know if they were still around, or if they even remembered who she was, anyway. After all, it’d been way back when she was still a high school student, which at this point felt like a lifetime ago. Raina was offering for Anming to take one of the goose cookies she had gifted, and while these had meant to be for Anser/Raina, Anming slowly took one, if only to be polite. “I try to avoid large gatherings like that, normally; sometimes it can’t be helped either way, but still…” “You’re the first person to reach out and make sure I was alright, so maybe that’s why I wanted to do something special,” she murmured.

They were meant for her, sure, but Raina seemed quite pleased with herself when Anming gave in and took one for herself, too. Once the cookie was taken, she pulled the bag back toward herself so she could fish out one of those gingerbread ones--it was the perfect season for it, after all-- She chomped down on the gingerbread cookie she yanked out, expression going from a bright one to one of concern pretty quickly. She swallowed the bite, regathered herself, and offered, lightly, "Then it's a good thing I found you then, right? Can't go through this alone." It was arguable that there were some things Raina had not learned as Anser yet. For one, despite being told that perhaps she shouldn't, she did still go out patrolling by herself a lot. She had to. If she didn't, countless people could die that perhaps she could have prevented. If she didn't, maybe someone would get kidnapped like her brother had again. If she didn't, she was wasting the gift her world gave her and the power she held-- But Anser had ultimately learned that connections and teaming up and working together were better. She worked great with Cybele, had worked great with Minkowski, worked well with Sedna even, and learning them as civilians could only tighten those bonds and help them work better together. "I'm sorry that no one else reached out. That's not Gucci," she bit her lip, glanced to the side, rocked on her heels, and then turned back toward Anming. "But! You have me now, so you have at least one connection. You can find me at most of those large gatherings," because she couldn't really stay away, but--, "and I think I'm a bit of a beacon now with the glowing, so I'll be there."

"I would prefer not to get involved in fights, but..." Anming sighed, knowing it was (always) inevitable; trying to avoid conflict only got her drawn into it even more, after all, "Thank you, Raina, I'll try to remember that." If she had to get involved in battles, then it helped knowing there was someone she could partner up with, after all. Anming fell into a bit of an awkward silence after that, as she ate the cookie she had taken, unsure of what else to say. She had come all this way looking for Anser, which she had accomplished, and had given her the cookies, so was there anything else to talk about...? They knew each other's real names now, so Anming knew who to ask after next time- what more was there to add to the conversation? Should they exchange addresses- oh, that was probably not necessary, actually. Phone numbers, maybe, but- oh, Anming realized something, just then. She had come all this way out to look for Anser, yes, but what about Raina herself? "I'm sorry, were you headed somewhere? I just realized... I must be keeping you from going wherever it was you were intending on going," she said, hoping that Raina wouldn't be late, or that she wasn't keeping anyone waiting on her.

Raina nodded, offering a bright smile. The but was right. Granted, Raina tried to get herself involved, to be honest, but the fights were inevitable. She had never asked to be involved. She hadn't asked to be involved because she hadn't even been old enough to have an opinion before it became part of her life -- "Please do! If I see you I'll come over, too." A compromise. Anming seemed a bit awkward, but Raina was happy with the occasional silence, happily eating the cookies until Anming spoke again. She let out a sound of curiosity when Anming spoke, then glancing up as she thought about what she had been doing before she got distracted by cookies and then by someone who might have had her attention because she was a senshi hero-- "Oh! Uh, yeah, I was heading home after practice. But I'm not in a rush. Mama knows not to expect me very fast by now." After all, she was always patrolling-- "So you're not really keeping me from anything! And cookies are worth the distraction, anyway." Raina grinned. "Especially goose cookies..."

Raina’s response wasn’t quite the answer Anming had expected, but it was a relief, at least, that she wasn’t quite holding the teen up either. It wasn’t as if she herself always made it home on time as a teenage senshi either, after all. “That’s good…” she finally said, even though her tone suggested she was on the fence as to whether to truly consider it a ‘good’ thing or not, “I don’t live with my parents right now, but I at least try to check in with them through texts when I’m going out, or coming back.” Her parents were pretty busy these days but that wasn’t really all that important right now. “I’m glad you like the cookies, Raina; making them goose-shaped was a very spontaneous idea that I still think I got carried away with, but I’m glad it worked out.” Also, it’d been awhile since she’d gifted baked goods to a friend, so it was good to know that she still was able to make things edible that said friends enjoyed, of course.
