Again, Bellite was out and about, and again she was on the trail of a baby Knight. She was hoping it was the cute Neptune one who had flirted with her and then gotten cold feet, but when the male came into view, she tilted her head, humming softly and tapping her chin. “Okay. You’re something different, aren’t you? What planet are you from? The colors are screaming Saturn but...the Jesus toga is really throwing me off.”
She summoned her axe to her hand, feeling a bit more frisky tonight. “How about you and I play a game. It’s your choice. We can either take a trip up to your Wonder, and you listen to and answer all of my questions when they pop into my head, or we can duke it out, and I’ll win, in which case...you’ll take me up to your Wonder and answer all of my questions when they pop into my head...and of course, if you win, I’ll go home and promise not to hurt anyone again tonight! Sound like a plan?”
Bellite gave a sudden grin. “...Also, if you decide that you don’t want to play, I’ll just kill you and take your starseed, so really...I’d play if I were you.”

Meninx felt obligated to snap back that he did not choose this toga, or his planet, or any of this, but something about her energy signature made him second guess the snark he wanted to lay on her.
Except, she had an axe, and he had a stick.
And, no idea what she was talking about.
He didn’t give her name, because she hadn’t offered hers, and he wasn’t stupid enough to give more than he got when it came to the Negaverse.
“Look, I don’t really know what you’re talking about. I’d like to keep my starseed where it is, and I’d rather not get too friendly with your axe. I don’t know what you’re talking about beyond that, though. How am I supposed to take you somewhere--is that a riddle or something? What sort of ‘wonder’ are you looking for? I know a good pizza place?”
He’d taken half a step back, although he wasn’t stupid enough to think he could get away from her. His go-to was running but it’s not like he could get out of here without her seeing where he ran--and he didn't want to leave his back exposed to her.

Bellite paused and a slow smile spread across her face. “You haven’t been up to your Wonder? It’s up in space. Really?”
She sounded utterly delighted and took a step towards the Page, humming softly. “Well, if you don’t know how to get there, I suppose it can't be helped...but…” Another step closer.
“That doesn’t excuse you from our game, it simply means you need to figure out how before we run into each other next.”
And bellite teleported, striking out at the page with the back side of her axe. It wasn’t sharp, but the blow would hurt. “Guess that means you and I have to have a fight, don’t you think?” She wouldn't hold back with the next blow, she had a fantastic taste for blood, and since he was the only one here….perhaps it would just be his. Nothing fatal though. She wanted to see his Wonder at some point.

Meninx stumbled a bit as pain spilled from where she’d hit him. He’d roughhoused enough in his life that it wasn’t enough to completely hinder him, but that didn’t mean it hadn’t hurt and that didn’t mean it wouldn’t bruise.
“Hey,” he said sharply, and when he caught himself he stood up straight to face her.
“That’s not fair, you’ve got an axe and I’ve got a stick. I didn’t say I wouldn’t take you, I just don’t know what you’re talking about. I’m not going to be able to take you anywhere if you keep hitting me with that thing. How do I get there, if you know so much? Or--who am I supposed to ask to find out?”
He resisted the urge to rub at the spot she’d hit and tried to keep his cool but--he was supposed to take some lunatic with an axe to space? What even was she on about?

Bellite laughed, watching him with mischief in her eyes. “That’s your fault for being what you are, isn’t it? The fact that you have a stick. Had you been on the right side of things, perhaps you’d have something useful too. Perhaps you’d be something useful. Would you consider it? Becoming something useful instead of a fake Jesus with a stick?”
She moved swiftly, turning her axe again so that the blunt side swung at him. “And as for figuring out how to get to your Wonder...how should I know? I’ve never been a knight. I’ve always been just as I am. Someone strong and ready to fight.”
...Okay so that was a highly exaggerated example but, he didn’t need to know that. “Perhaps you should enroll in some Knight classes!” The double meaning made her grin and the Captain snorted softly. “Are you seriously so alone in all of this? What a mess. Don’t you find that frustrating?”

He moved again, only this time he was slightly less rattled when the axe hit him. He’d seen it coming and managed to twist so it just grazed off of him.
“I find a lot of things frustrating. Right now, mostly, the fact that you’re treating this like a game of cat and mouse. I get tugged around enough as is. So--you made your point, okay? Your weapon is better than mine. Congratulations. I don’t think it’s my fault for any of this. I didn’t ask for this, so how can I be blamed for it? I’m doing my best.”
Was he?
Maybe in his real life. But then, what was he even doing powering up like this if he didn’t know what was going on? What he was supposed to do? SHe was playing with him, toying with him. She could have been trying to chop him up and he couldn’t have done a thing to stop it.
It wasn’t fair.
“Why do you want to go to space, anyway? What’s in it for you?”

“Knowledge, of course. And Curiosity. I want to learn as much as I can about what’s beyond the world. I want to see everything, if I can.”
See it, exploit it, bring it into the warm embrace of Chaos, if she could. Bellite smiled and dismissed her weapon, taking a step away from the Page and bobbing a curtsey. “I’m sure that our paths will cross again, and I do hope that you’ve figured out how to go up to your Wonder. The one that I visited before was fantastic, and I wonder how yours will compare. Now, tell me, just for curiosity’s sake...you are a Mars Knight, correct? My name is Bellite. Captain of the Negaverse. You’re the second of your type that I've encountered.”
She looked him up and down and smirked slightly. “Even though I don’t like the fashion choices fate has bestowed on you, it’s better than the last guy. Your hair is too, so take comfort from that.”

His eye twitched and he committed her name to memory. “Yeah, Mars,” he said, and something nagged in the back of his mind, that he shouldn’t give her his name. He didn’t want to, but he didn’t have a lie prepared.
Which was stupid. He should have prepared for this. If his mother knew--
He clenched his teeth and introduced, “Meninx. So. I guess I’ll see you around. I’ll let you know if I figure that whole Wonder thing out or not then.”
Or, if things went any better, he’d never see her again, and either find someone to teach him about whatever she was talking about--or just figure it out on his own.

The twitch made Bellite almost laugh in glee, and with a nod she softly repeated his name to herself. “Well, Meninx. It’s been lovely, and you had better figure out the whole Wonder thing. Our game still stands, and you know the forfeit if you don’t! Don’t say that I didn’t warn you.”
Though, she would offer corruption too, if he wanted it. She wouldn’t waste a perfectly good new recruit, after all.
The Captain gave a giddy wave and teleported away, pleased with her night’s work. She was somewhat disappointed that she didn’t get up to space but…
She would go again soon, she could just feel it.
