First semester had been brutal so far and Iduna did not want to admit that she was really, really happy about that because then she didn't need to think about how she'd almost been eaten by a tree. A. TREE. HER TREE! Gods how broken was that!? Like yeah she'd survived her trial and gained her full power as a senshi but at what cost!? How could she ever, ever think about going back there known just how mutated the Eldermaus had become and all those souls that had been lost over the lifetimes just because it was greedy for power!? It was like a bad horror movie, except she was living the damn thing!
Needless to say, she hadn't been back. Nor did she have any intention, at least not without back up. A lot of backup. Maybe the entirety of the senshi force in back up.
Today, however, she was finally powering up as a way to relax and chill after the hells of midterms. Not that she wanted to fight or anything, she just wanted to go down to the surf and relax under the stars... and okay maybe she really wanted to see Lazurite again and tell her all about the tree and her world and maybe bring her there - just to observe from a distance! No way in hell she was getting close to that tree again. Nope. Never.
So Super Sailor Iduna, not so freshly minted full power senshi, dangled her feet off the rock above the calm surf beneath them, and waited to see if Lazurite would show.
And maybe she had a little flowing orb of light with her this time that bobbed and floated next to her, enjoying the starlight too.

When Lazurite felt someone in the spot where she had met her Little Apple, she had paused and moved closer to investigate.
When she saw the bright blue hair and the vibrant red and green of the girl’s fuku, she sped up, here eyes growing bright with excitement. “Iduna! There you are! I was gone for so long, and honestly I was starting to wonder if you were just someone I had dreamed up, but...my dreams are never so vivid. You’re far more beautiful than I remembered anyway!”
The excitement at seeing the senshi was utterly unfeigned and she ran up to wrap her arms around Iduna’s shoulders, burying her face in the thick, bright hair.
“I missed you. Is what I’m trying to say, if that isn’t coming through well. Which, I don’t think it is.”
But that was okay, perhaps this display would do more at convincing Iduna that she was sincere, which was the truth! But...still. Later she knew she would lay it all on thick just to try and get the senshi to join her in the embrace of Chaos. And Jet would be ever so proud.

Was she supposed to feel utter joy as Lazurite's arms wrapped around her and her face buried in her hair? Was she supposed to feel calm for the first time since she'd gone to her homeworld? Was it even possible to feel happiness when your supposed enemy was hugging you? She had no idea, except that she wiggled in Lazurite's arms so she could wrap her arms around the corrupt and squeeze, giggling in excitement. Iduna pulled back and smiled at Lazurite.
"I missed you too... and the beauty is because you are looking a full adult senshi of Apples now," she said with a giggle, lifting her chin all smug like. The little wisp nuzzled into Lazurite's cheek and seemed to flip in excitement too? It was hard to really understand what the little thing was feeling but it was super cute. "Oh! That's my little wisp friend! They don't have a name yet but really seem to like you Lazurite!"
Maybe she could name it Lazu or Lala after the corrupt?

Lazurite blinked and smiled brightly at the fact that Iduna had missed her. It made her feel utterly and completely thrilled…this…Goodness. It was just going to be so easy. Her Iduna was going to make it easy.
The creature, the wisp made her pause, but she laughed softly, nuzzling the thing back gently. “Oh! It’s so cute too! I’m glad that it likes me, but I’m even gladder that you like me…that you missed me! I’m proud of you! Becoming a full adult senshi. You’ve bloomed!” She laughed and after a moment, buried her face in the crook of Iduna’s neck, pressing a soft kiss to the skin between her choker and the sailor collar, pleased that there was a space that was just begging to be kissed.
“Are you okay? It’s been so long. I was really starting to get worried…”

Heat rippled down Iduna's spine as Lazurite's lips found purchase on her neck and kissed. Every nerve ending jolted at the intimate touch and she gasped softly at it. Lazurite kissed her... Lazurite kissed her neck. Was that legal? Obviously, attraction was attraction and, yes maybe Iduna did like women over men in you know, that way but she'd never really gone that way before? She'd really adored Cadmus too, and still did so maybe she was somewhere in the middle? Or it was more the person themselves than like... their appearance? But she really wanted Lazurite to kiss her again, well maybe that meant she liked women more than men and---
Lazurite's words brought her out of her gay panic. The wisp bobbed in the air happily but otherwise didn't really do much as Iduna pulled back a bit to talk. And maybe to put a bit of space in between them so her heart would calm down.
"I'm alright. I got caught up with college - why do they like to drown freshmen with max credit load their first semester?? - and well... I uh, was eaten by a tree," she said, just sort of letting that piece of information hang in the space between them for a moment. "I'm sorry for worrying you though..."

The fact that she was pushed away, even if it was just a little was…disheartening to Lazurite…but it would be okay. Not all was lost just because she was pushed away and…
“...Excuse me, what? What do you mean you were eaten by a tree, Iduna?” Lazurite stared, brows furrowing in obvious concern. “I’m…not sure that I understand that. College, yeah that’s just a money making scam to break the spirits of new adults, but…eaten by a tree…that’s something new.”
The corrupt hesitated and reached out, taking Iduna’s hands, hoping that this wasn’t out of bounds. This…wasn’t all just trying to lead her down the correct path towards chaos. She did truly care for her friend.
“...Are you okay?”

Iduna scratched her cheek. "This giant tree opened its mouth and ate me. I am..." she said, looking down at their hands for a minute. The gesture was appreciated, and she squeezed Lazurite's hands in return. She hadn't thought about the whole thing in a while and it hurt to bring it up but...
"Iduna has a great tree, the Eldermaus, that is sort of the... lifeblood of the planet? Or at least, where the first senshi came from. It's enormous, I think it has it's own weather systems up there. I was guided by a sort of past life of mine? To the tree and apparently it administers the growth rituals. To see if you're worthy. Well to do that it... it eats you.
"And then torments you with something you want most... so it can encase you in crystal and consume your energy. That was the bargain that was struck to gain full power. So yeh it... it ate me. I came out on the other side, clearly, but ah... I don't think I'm going back there anytime soon. To purge the tree of so much anger and pain and sorrow... I don't think I can do it."
At some point, Iduna had started to shake, eyes going distant as she recounted the tale to Laz. Her face felt wet from crying and just seemed to get wetter. She didn't really see Laz anymore, just the face of that tree... laughing and trying to swallow her whole again and again.

Lazurite listened in utter horror, mouth gaping slightly as the implications of being eaten by your own planet really sunk in. Finally, she again wrapped her arms around the senshi, drawing her close and not worrying about if it was the right mood. She was crying. Lazurite would have to be utterly heartless to not want to comfort her.
“Iduna, Iduna honey…I’m so sorry…that sounds utterly terrifying and I can’t imagine how scared you must have been…” She hesitated and pressed her lips to the top of the bright blue hair. “I’m so glad you came back…I don’t know what I would have done if…”
She swallowed, a little afraid of how true the statement was. She would have been rather devastated to lose this senshi…and while she had permission for this…
Perhaps feeling this strongly was a little dangerous.
“You’re safe, honey. I’m here for you…it can’t get you now…if you ever want, I can come up there with you and we can cut the damn thing down!”

Iduna curled into the embrace, finally letting her emotions empty and all the terror and pain she felt melt into Lazurite's arms. How she'd missed just having someone to cry against... A flare of anger, white hot and violent, shot through her belly for a moment. Screw her brother for leaving her. Screw Cadmus for vanishing. They'd abandoned her to deal with her world all alone. They were so... so...
The anger fizzled out as she sobbed harder.
"The Eldermaus is so... large.... I think we'd need an army to bring it down..." she said between gulps of air once her sobs quieted. She wiped her eyes with the folds of her skirts. "S-sorry I got your fuku all wet..."

“Maybe we can just burn it down. Burn the whole place down if you want. We could bring some hairspray or something and make some flamethrowers or…whatever delinquents do. I’ve seen those old movies you know. And we could.” Her voice was soothing, and Lazurite held Iduna close, her fingers carding gently through the bright hair that she loved so much.
“Don’t you ever apologize for getting my wet, silly girl. I’m just happy I can be here with you. I’ll always be here with you if you’ll let me…I hope you know that. I think you’re utterly wonderful, Iduna…I even told my General about you! And he’s happy I have such a wonderful friend.”
Of course there was more to it than that, but Iduna didn’t need to know everything…honestly, right now she just needed to be assured that she was cared for. Wanted.

Iduna looked at Laz for a moment, still sniffling occasionally. Her General knew about her? She supposed that was a given, since Lazurite was hanging out with a White Moon senshi. Chaos always seemed to want to know about who their people were interacting with. It gave her pause, but at the same time she couldn't fault Laz for doing so? If Iduna had anyone else to talk to, she'd probably tell them about Lazurite too.
They seemed to far more organized than Order, to be honest...
"I do want you around, Laz," she said with a smile. "You're my friend... my only powered friend to be honest..."
Well that was depressing, wasn't it?

“I want you around too! Always!” Lazurite hugged Iduna tightly once more and pressed another kiss to the top of her head. “When should we meet up again? I don’t want to leave you alone for so long. Can you meet me here in three days? Or as early as tomorrow if you’d like! I just want to know you’re all right…”
Since she clearly wasn’t.
“I can bring us dinner if you want to meet up tomorrow? And we can just chat again. I’ll brush your hair if you’d like me too. I think I might be a little obsessed with your hair, just letting you know. It’s so soft and smells amazing. As for me being your friend, you’re my best friend too, Iduna. Always and forever.” Lazurite held out her hand, pinkie extended. “Promise.”

Iduna giggled and hooked her pinkie around Laz's. "Best friends forever! Three days from now sounds good; I have some assignments I gotta do. Sounds good?" She'd be fine, eventually. It was just a shock and all. Right, right?
She was fine, she was completely adjusted, no mental health problems here!!
"I look forward to dinner!"
