Whisler had miscalculated. He thought he would be able to go up to his Wonder again after leaving Ashanite there for two nights...but...unfortunately it wasn’t in the cards. He could play it off, by saying that the first night obviously didn’t count since he had stayed with the General...and therefore he was owed two more nights on his wonder to rest and recover...but the truth of the matter was…
Well. He just wasn’t allowed back yet.
Thankfully, the evening of the fourth day he was able to get up to his wonder again, appearing with a relieved sigh, a bag full of presents in his hands. “Ashanite? God, I’m so sorry it took me so long. I couldn’t get back up...I...guess I didn’t figure the time right...I’m sorry.”
He knew that being trapped was one of the male’s least favorite things to be...but...at least there was food here. And warmth and a lovely hot spring…
Books too! Enough to keep a person...busy...and somewhat comfortable. Though. It wouldn’t be enough, and he knew it.
“How are you feeling, love?”

It had been an interesting experience, being left alone on a Wonder. One full of anxiety, certainly, but interesting nonetheless. He'd bene antsy to return to his duties in Destiny City, but...the truth was, the more time he spent on Whisler, the better he felt. There was little to do but rest and recover, and that did wonders for his heath.
Well, little to do besides that, except stew in anxiety about when Whisler intended to come back and return him to Earth. Which was something he tried his best to avoid, but the fear crawled up his spine, the worry that perhaps Whisler didn't intend to return him at all--especially when Whisler's initial promised return date passed, and ticked into another day.
He was glad for the hot springs; they did wonders for his anxiety, and for aches and pains he hadn't even known he had, especially with whatever nasty almost-flu he'd contracted. It was sort of a miracle of timing, then, that when Whisler returned, he was actually out of the hot spring and had willed his uniform back, rather than lounging in something less, but his hair was still wet and his skin pinked to show where he had been.
The voice did jolt him, at first, but it was--it was Whisler, which meant it was his exit.
"I'm...better," he said, warily. "Well enough that I can ask you to take me back, at least."

Whisler nodded and put the bag on the the bed, moving over to Ashanite and drawing him into a hug. “I’m glad that you’re feeling better. I didn’t mean to leave you stranded…I truly…wouldn’t have done that. But there’s enough food that I wasn’t to worried about you starving to death at least…ah.”
He reached up and smoothed down some of the General’s long, dark hair, sighing softly. “I have presents first. And then I’ll take you back…but give me a few more minutes of your time. I…” Drawing in a deep, unhappy breath, Whisler shrugged. “Well. I know that you won’t stay with me forever. I think I know that you won’t…ever come back to be mine. And I know that I…truly can’t be yours but…”
Letting go of the male, Whisler grabbed the bag and pulled out two boxes, one holding a Switch video game system, and the other a copy of the Animal Crossing game. “I want to be with you. As much as I can so…I…I bought myself one too…I thought. If we can’t be together in real life…we can live the domestic life in the game…if you’d be interested. If not…well. At least you’ll have something fun to pass the time with…”

Ashanite exhaled and sank into the hug, turning his head and nuzzling briefly at Whisler's hair. This felt warm, and soft, and like something he wished very badly he got to have on more than a brief, momentary basis. He wanted this to be real, but what he would have to trade....he wasn't sure he could do that.
"I rust you," he said, softly, which was stupid. He shouldn't' trust anyone, least of all someone on the other side, but the truth was, Whisler was unique. He was, and always had been, an exception to so many of Ashanite's personal rules.
At the offer of presents, he made a slightly confused face-what might Whisler intend to give him?
But the actual offering made him blink, and then soften, and smile, and he took both boxes with a look of fond melancholy.
"I think....I would like that very much." A slightly wry smile crossed his face. "Not that I've quite given up on convincing you to come home to me, but I think....this will be very nice, and an easier way to meet and be together. Less likely to be interrupted, as well."

Whisler gave a small grin, nodding. “Sweet…Um. I wrote down my friend code and it’s in the box so you can add me when you want and we’ll…be domestic as ********.” God, he didn’t want this to end. Didn’t want to take Ashanite home. Wanted to just stay up here with him forever. Just the two of them…but…damnit. There was so many people at home who were waiting for him. Depending on him.
…It wasn’t fair. If he could just…run away. Abandon everything…
He wouldn’t be happy. It was stupid. All of it was stupid.
Emotions were stupid. And love…love was the most stupid of all.
“I’m not done trying to convince you either, my love. One day, I hope that we find a happy middle…and I’m very glad you have more color back too. You look good. Not that you don’t always, but you look like you’ve slept, and that’s a huge difference. Sleep looks good on you.” He grinned and then gently pressed his forehead against Ashanite’s. “I love you. I hope you know that. I don’t regret a moment of time with you. I love you and I just. Wish I had met you before you decided to go to the Negaverse…or you had met me before I purified, but I don’t think that would have lined up well, but…I just wish we weren’t so goddamn star crossed…”
He drew in a long, slow breath and after a quick glance to make sure Ashanite hadn’t left anything, he brought them both back to Earth, gently pulling away from the General. “Home again, beloved. Safe and sound.”

Domestic as ********> Not exactly something Ashanite thought he wanted, but...it would be nice, he supposed, to pretend. It wasn't something he would get to have, but a little slice of it in a silly little game would be something he could look forward to.
"I expect you'll never be done trying to convince me," Ashanite said softly, eyes closing as Whisler pressed their foreheads together. "But I love you too, Whisler." He wanted this to be possible. He wanted them to be able to have each other. But there was simply no chance of that, if he was honest.
Not when they had each made their choices. It would always be stolen moments, grabbed whenever they could. Like this one, and it was coming to a close all too quickly.
They were back on Earth, and Ashanite was surprised by what a weight off his shoulders that was. He would have to find a way to explain where he'd been--perhaps he would be honest, that he had simply been knocked out by an illness--and he would have to work double-hard to make up Laurelite's quotas.
"Next time, love," Ashanite said, gently, and he leaned in to steal one last kiss.

Whisler gave the kiss willingly and nodded, drawing in a breath and turning away, wanting to leave before he let his emotions really take over and started demanding that Ashanite purify or else. He had a family to get home to…and that had to be enough.
…It would be enough.
