Lynette had been thinking of her two supernatural encounters since they had happened, and while she thoroughly enjoyed the encounter with the possible Vampire much more than that of the fish lizard woman...well. Both of them had led her to once more broaden her area of research. The mainstream bookstores had been no help whatsoever, and while she had expected that, it was annoying to be proven right.
She found one that sounded somewhat promising, “Arkham Letters”, it at least sounded fancy.
Entering the shop, Lynette slid her glasses back up the bridge of her nose and reached into her sweater pocket, pulling out a few M&M’s and shoving them into her mouth as she looked around.
The store was nothing short of paradise. It was like a nerd heaven, and when her eyes landed on the dice, Lynette was an absolute gonner.
As she moved to the display and let her hand run through the multicolored pieces, all thoughts of looking for books utterly left her mind.
Within a minute, she had more dice than she could really hold easily, and after a moment’s thought, she reached into her pocket with her free hand and drew out the small horde of candy that was in there. It was an overflowing handful, but she shoved it all into her mouth and let the handful of dice fall noisily into her pocket for safe keeping while she got more.
She was simply brilliant.

It had been a bit of a slow day, so far; Aimee had mostly been idling, shelving books and organizing displays. She'd sent Constantin home; there was nothing for him to do, and it wasn't as if he needed the paycheck. So she was alone in the store, when the pretty girl in round coke-bottle glasses came in.
Aimee hummed, and moved around the shelves, following her--just in case she needed help, of course, and also out of an abiding sense of boredom.
And, oh. Watching her get entranced by the loose dice display....Aimee had to muffle a giggle with her hand. It was a bit slobby to watch, but in a charmingly disheveled sort of way.
She moved over, and very lightly laid a hand on the girl's shoulder.
"You know, we do sell those by the pound. There are bags and everything." She gestured to a small display--indeed, dice bags, in many colors and unusual patterns, including some autumnal and Halloweeny ones. "My sister sews them. She's quite talented."

The feeling of the touch on her arm made Lynette jump half a foot in the air and she spun around, her eyes widening in panic, cheeks extended with the chocolate she had stuffed into them.
FOr a long moment she simply stared at the very pretty girl who was talking to her, though her brain was having issues making sense of anything she had to say, and finally, slowly, she began to chew the mass of candies.
When she had made enough space to speak, Lynette nodded. “...Fanku.” Finally, some gears began to work again in her brain and she turned around, beginning to chew faster, hping that perhaps the other woman hadn’t noticed she had a handful of M&M’s in her mouth.
Hey. Anything could happen, right?
Turning back around, Helena cleared her throat. “Thank you. I hadn’t seen those. Your dice were. Um.”
She pushed her glasses up her nose again, eyes flickering down the pretty girl’s form. “...Mesmerizing.”

Aimee raised her eyebrows, trying not to be too obviously amused at the sight in front of her. This woman was....cute, in an unrefined, messy sort of way, with her cheeks stuffed full of chocolate. The way a puppy was cute after it had enthusiastically gotten into the garden, digging for something.
"Hasn't anyone ever told you it's rude to talk with your mouth full?" She teased, playfully.
When she turned back around, Aimee reached up with a thumb to wipe a smear of chocolate away from the corner of the girl's mouth. Was it forward, to do that to a customer? Certainly, but she could also recognize when she was being checked out, so she suspected it might be welcomed.
"I'm Aimee. I own the store," she introduced herself. "I'm glad you're interested--please do let me know if there's anything else I can help you find. If you're just looking for dice, we obviously have plenty loose, but we also have sets--from Chessex, but also from a few independent dicemakers, although those are obviously a bit more expensive."

Lynette grew still when the woman stroked her cheek seemingly out of nowhere, but when she realized she was wiping off some chocolate, the urge to open her mouth and clean off the thumb was almost overwhelming. She didn’t, though, and simply nodded, clearing her throat. “I...no. I came here for books, actually. But your dice...were just there. And very shiny.”
Shaking her head to try and clear it of thoughts of pretty girl, Lynette finally glanced back towards the books. “I enjoy the supernatural. But no bookstores around here have things I’m interested in. It’s all mainstream. I had hoped…”
Lynette shrugged. “Do you have anything like that? I’m a ghost hunter, but lately I’ve turned my hand towards monsters and other creatures of the night. I used to have an assistant but she vanished. Then I left the city, but I’m back now and want to keep working.”
Her eyes had landed on Aimee once again, darting from her face to her chest and back again, flickering down to where the chocolate still sat on her thumb before going back to her face.

Aimee brought her thumb up to her lips, in a gesture that made it look extremely idle, but was actually quite thoughtful and pointed. She licked the chocolate off, and gave a little hum, like she wasn't even thinking about it at all.
But she was watching Lynette's face the entire time.
"We do, in fact, carry plenty of books in that vein," she said, and she gave her a broad smile. "Let me show you to them! All sorts of books, honestly, from the more abstract to the more concrete. And! We just got in a piece by a local author on some Destiny City urban legends. Small press, very limited release, but they were happy to work with an indie retailer."
She grinned, proudly, and beckoned for Lynette to follow, and then turned and led without looking back--like she was used to assuming that when she asked something of people, they did it.

Lynette stared at Aimee, her pupils dilating as she watched her lick the chocolate from her thumb, and she swallowed hard, trying to focus on what the pretty shopkeeper was saying but...well. Quite honestly, her brain had gone a little fuzzy.
When she beckoned though, Lynette followed just like a puppy, nodding as though she were following the conversation, her hands digging into her pockets...hoping for some forgotten M&M’s. Sadly, there was none, so she simply swallowed hard and tried to get her mind to stop racing, and her heart to stop pounding.
“Urban legends? Like the Lizard Man that was showing up in the videos? Or the monsters that are around? I know that those are true. I’ve run into one before. It was exciting.”
Ah. There were her words, and the gist of what Aimee was talking about must have gotten past the film on her brain. Good, good.

"You have?" Aimee turned and raised her eyebrows, looking interested. If this girl had run into monsters--youma, perhaps? They did like to snack on civilians. "My goodness. So many of the stories make them sound so fierce..." She hummed. "I'm glad that you survived your encounter."
She walked a few more rows down, and pause din front of a shelf.
"Right here. Paranormal, urban legends, so on." She browsed the shelf quickly, and produced the book she had described. "And here's the one I mentioned, but you can feel free to look around for anything else that crosses your fancy."

“Mhm. I wanted to capture it to dissect it and turn it in to a science lab but. When I tried to knock it out it turned to dust so. That happened.”
Lynette moved over to the bookshelf, the fog in her mind forgotten when she saw the books on display. Oh...there were several that she didn’t have yet. Her hands reached out and scooped five of them up and held them close to her chest. “This should be enough. These and the dice. But I will have to come back, just in case you get anything else in that I’m interested in.”
Her eyes flickered to Aimee’s lips and then away, clearing her throat. “I’m...ready to check out now. I think.”
Not that she hadn’t already been checking the other woman out this whole time.

Aimee nodded. So it had been a youma, then. How impressive that a civilian had defeated one.
"Well, that's lucky, in a way! At least you weren't hurt, or anything!" She huffed. "I haven't seen any myself, but I'm hard pressed to not believe, when so many people have." That was a blatant lie, of course, but better not to say anything, just in case Lynette was not a civilian.
"In any case, right this way." A wry smile crossed Aimee's face. "And you can take the dice. Consider them a little gift."
