There were few things in life that Namielle enjoyed more than the seasonal festivities of Earth. She couldn't remember how things had been in Mau, if they had ever had such things on her Homeworld, and what might have inspired them. Regardless it had been with great interest that she had watched her very first Halloween unfold, and then for years after, she had continued to enjoy the oddities that came with it. Admittedly she hadn't enjoyed the particular magic that flowed through Destiny City at the time, but the squeals of joy and the laughter that rang out in the streets was something that brought warmth to her very core.
Thus, it would have come at no surprise to anyone to find that she had chosen to wander the streets this year in order to admire the view. However on this occasion there was one tiny difference. Having gotten wind of the Halloween festivities in a particular part of town, where a 'Halloween Fest' was occurring for the young and old alike, the feline had decided that she would very much like to participate this year.
It hadn't been without its challenges though; after all she was a cat and when it came to being an animal there were certain obstacles to fitting in seamlessly with the environment. Thus she had had to consider her options carefully, and though she had no human to aid her on this occasion, she had managed to design a costume that she was most certainly satisified with. It didn't look terribly impressive, but it was effective.
The result?
Well, Namielle would be found wandering up and down the streets in a fairly simple attire. She had strapped a walkie-talkie to her collar to ensure that when she spoke it looked like it was coming from there. Wound around her collar was a small ribbon with a note she had written explaining who she was and how she had been trained. Atop her head,a simple witches hat held on by ribbon around her neck, and for a final touch of genius, a cauldron strapped to her back filled to the brim with candy.
Yep, this afternoon this darling very well trained 'pet cat' was out to hand out candy to children and she was very much hoping for success!
She hoped it would work anyway, she would give anything to spark a little joy and positivity in a life at the moment, including her own.

Fangnyl knew that none of what he'd been doing was appropriate, technically. According to the rules of the Vanguard set by the Commodore. And yet, he couldn't help himself. He wanted desperately to learn and see everything he could of Earth while he was here while researching for their Senshi. Of course he wanted to restore their home, a home he'd never been to, but his home nonetheless. But he wasn't sure how long that would take, and frankly, he wanted to indulge and enjoy life on a living planet while he could. To partake in a little taste of it before their planet was restored. Maybe it would help him not be so overwhelmed, either, when it was restored. He breathed deeply of the crisp air, the fall season being his favorite. Sure, he'd only technically experienced two of the four, but the tail end of summer had been hot and sucked. With autumn... Everything was colorful and chilly in a way he enjoyed, there was mist and fog and everyone was festive and enjoyed the season. What he especially loved about fall, though, wasn't the colorful leaves or the apple cider or the hay rides (or even the corn maze he'd gone to with Aliez—his knees went slightly weak at the thought of their little, well, date, but he pulled himself together). It was Halloween. A whole holiday dedicated to pretending to be something you weren't, scaring people, indulging in candy, and just purely having fun. It was amazing and wonderful, and he was desperate to participate, grateful that they were enacting their big plan tomorrow and leaving him to indulge in this little bit of rebelliousness by going out and joining the festivities. What Commodore Lyndin didn't know couldn't hurt him, after all. (Another wonderful little saying these Earthlings—these ihumans—had). He watched as people ran back and forth, talking and laughing and his heart felt full and warm, especially when people complimented him on his costume. He'd gotten a silly costume from a local store that made him look like a twisted version of one of Earth's wolves, which he thought was nice. He could tell people his name was Fang (short for Fangnyl, of course) and it wouldn't be a lie. And it would be easier to react to it if anyone remembered him and called out to him later. He hummed happily as he walked down the streets with a spring in his step, until he nearly bowled over something very small. What? Oh—it was one of the cats! That helped the Senshi on Earth awaken. He didn't remember her name, but she was recognizable to him as one of them. He'd seen her around before, in big groups. He knelt down, grinning behind his mask. "Sorry, kitty," he said carefully, "Almost didn't see you. Cute costume." He lifted his mask, grinning as he whispered, "You're Namielle, right? I'm Fang—Fangnyl. One of the..." He glanced around. "Y'know. Not from around here, so to speak." Speaking louder again, "How's it been handing out candy like that, huh?"

Well that was certainly one way to fit in, wasn't it? She had to applaud the ingenuity, if there was ever a chance for the Velencian to fit in, it would have been during a period when no one looked the way they should. What she hadn't expected was to be greeted in such a forward manner and with that much warmth. That wasn't to say that the aliens lacked warmth, they probably expressed a measure of it to one another, but her previous encounters had been a little more on the unusual side.
...They weren't great at small talk or nuance.
"It would appear my reputation precedes me," she offered with a delicate chuckle. It crackled out from her little walkie-talkie, the tiniest glimpse of the 'microphone' beside her jawline and she shook her head. She'd put a great deal of effort into this costume and she was ever so slightly delighted by the fact that she would have an opportunity to use it!
"You would be right though, that is my name but you can just call me Nami if you would like," she smiled and glanced passed his legs towards the swarms of children near by. She hadn't gotten to them yet, she was almost there, but she hadn't had the chance to make any dramatic statements to draw attention to herself so that she could hand out her candy (and receive the pets that likely came with it).
"I'll be honest with you I only just started, I'm about to shout up a storm and let everyone know I'm here," she grinned and gave a wiggle, shaking the candy inside the cauldron. "You can always help if you'd like?" she offered and peered up at him.
"Unless you're shy of course, in which case I'll yell for the both of us."

He had to applaud her ingenuity, as well—she looked like she blended in seamlessly with the crowd like this, and finding a way to allow herself to talk without looking suspicious was just brilliant. He didn't know exactly how this technology worked, and he was curious, but now was certainly not the time to be dismantling and fiddling with it. "I'd love to join you, Nami!" he beamed, "And, well. I'll let you do all the talking. After all, werewolves shouldn't be able to talk, but magical cats can." He blinked, attempting to wink, and didn't realize he'd done it wrong. "Halloween is such fun!" he said as he dropped his mask and stood back up. "Ladies first, of course."

"Werewolves can talk, have you never seen the movies?" she tutted and cast him a sidelong glance. If he had time she was going to recommend several good movies that would introduce him to mythological creatures. He might not want it, but by golly if she wasn't going to teach at least a few of these young visitors a little bit about this planet.
...Even if it was through movies like Underworld.
When it came to the wink though, well that was just going to have to be left as a rather endearing quirk. She hadn't ever really thought about it before, but was winking an established phenomenon of this world or did others possess it? Would it even mean the same thing or would it unintentionally start a war? So many questions and simply not enough aliens of varying species to interview to gather enough data for a solid conclusion.
"Aight, let's see how this goes," she leapt onto the wall, took a deep breath and bellowed as loud as her little, fluffy body could manage.
"COME ONE, COME ALL! Adventurers of all ages, now is your chance to prove yourself worthy!" She gave a wistful wave of her paws.
"Just say the magic words and you'll have yourself a treat!" She rattled the cauldron on her back.
"Trick or treat?" she sang. "It's time you had something yummy to eat!"

"Well no, not really. I've only had a bit of time to figure out all this stuff, really. Hopefully enough to engage and not look like a fool!" he said with a hearty laugh, "Just trying to have fun." He grinned under the mask as she started her speech, watching as a few kids bounded up, seemingly wary of the werewolf with the talking cat, but giving up their fears easily when he only offered a friendly wave and a gesture to the cat with the treats. "You're good at this," he praised as the first wave of kids fell back.

"Well," she tutted. "We'll have to give you a veritable education on all things fantastical later," she smiled. Far be it from her to dictate how one should act on halloween, but she did firmly believe that Fangyl would benefit from being exposed to the pop culture of Earth in greater detail. Granted he would have to decide which of the varying references he preferred, but at the very least he'd be able to ascertain if he wanted a talking werewolf or a non-verbal one!
Alas, they were soon swarmed with children who were surprisingly gentle when claiming their prize from the cauldron on her back. She had half expected to be man handled, but in the end their manners shone through and she had to give each an approving smile. She'd afford them the pets here and there, the ear scratches they offered well received - they deserved that much for being so gentle.
...How long her treats would last though, she wasn't so sure.
She gave a cursory glance over her shoulder but given the angle of the pot she couldn't quite make out the edges.
"How many waves of children do you think this will last for?" she asked curiously. "Maybe I should have brought an extra set just in case?" She murmured.
Hindsight and all that, but she could always learn for next year, right?genovianprince I'll keep checking in for this one so we can blast it out quickly for you. n_n

Fangnyl enjoyed waving at the kids, keeping an eye out to make sure nobody misbehaved with the very cool Namielle. He didn't want her to get hurt and have nobody who could help her. Most of the children were so good at being polite, and Fangnyl really enjoyed seeing all the costumes and all the children running around having fun. It all looked so... so like something he might have enjoyed as a child, himself. But there was only so much they could have on Valencya. He loved his home, of course, but... Earth was so lucky. They had it all. "Probably not much longer," he said, looking over into the treat bucket, "If we can come visit next year, I would love to help out again. This is so much fun." Fangnyl really hoped they could come back and visit. They were so close to healing their home. He wanted to rebuild their home, of course, but something about Earth... he was drawn to it, he couldn't help himself. Epine de Rose thank you, sorry for asking that and then taking so long to get back on it - holiday time in the shipping biz crying

Her treat 'cauldron' was certainly emptying rather swiftly, but there was only so much a feline of her stature could carry comfortably. In fact it wasn't much longer before it was well and truly empty and even the roughest of shakes gave no sign of a crackle of a hidden treat. Hm, she was going to have to refill it and return over the course of the next few days, make a name for herself and all that jazz... even if she couldn't manage to get her newfound companion to join her!
"Oh no!" She cleared her throat and gave a sad wave, though fortunately she did seem to have managed to get the majority of the kids. "That's all for today folks! I'll be back again tomorrow for another visit, make sure you ask your parents to come pet the kitty!" she chimed before motioning for Fangnyl to follow her. Not that she intended to go anywhere particularly special, merely walk along the wall and back in the general direction she had come from.
"You have to come back next year," she clucked her tongue. Admittedly she couldn't dictate what the young alien could or couldn't do and whether it was even feasible, but he would be welcome and well -
"Quite frankly it is tradition that one must make an even better costume every year and," she waved her paw at him with a grin. "I think you can really make something of this in the future. You best make the most of the opportunity and knock our socks off next year," she pointed out. genovianprince All good! I sympathise. <3

Fangnyl laughed shyly as he followed her, looking himself up and down. "You really think so?" he asked gleefully, "I would love to do something better than this last minute slapdash costume." He paused for a moment, sighing happily. "Thank you for letting me join you. This was much more fun being a participant rather than an observer," he said, overly formal. Epine de Rosex ty! also hey look who happened to be in the middle of doing tags lol, looks like we can fin this!

"I know so," Namielle replied with a warm smile. She'd prefer to remain on the positive scale if she was being honest. Yes, there were those with considerable reservations about their visitors but so far all of those she had met seemed genuinely sweet. Some had been a little odd, some had been a bit cautious and then others had been down right friendly. In the grand scheme of things she very much wanted to give them a chance.
...And this one liked halloween!
"You were most welcome," she paused briefly and cleared her throat. "So I'll see you here at the same time next year, with your upgrade costume, ok?" she winked and gave her chest a little pat. "I'll have a candy bag for you to help me restock so we can be out a little longer as well," she added and then gave a small wave.
"But for now I best be getting home, get this little cauldron dusted off and prepared for tomorrow. You be safe ok?" she turned around and began to walk in her intended direction. While she might always have said such things when she was leaving, she always meant it. He seemed a little more savvy than some of the others she'd met but one could never tell... Somewhere out there there might be an agent who had worked out what they were and she would have very much preferred they didn't.
Better safe than sorry!
"Until next year, good sir!" she chimed over her shoulder and finally bounded off.
